Gerald Harris To Replace Rivera Against Sakara At UFC 118
Jorge Rivera's loss will be Gerald Harris' gain. Harris has verbally agreed to step in for an injured Rivera to face Alessio Sakara at UFC 118. Paperwork pending. Harris fights for the fourth time in 2010. After debuting for the UFC with a "Knockout of the Night" win over John Salter in January, Harris has since earned victories over Mario Miranda and Dave Branch. The slam finish of Branch earlier this month earned Harris the evening's "Knockout of the Night" and was also featured on ESPN's SportsCenter as one of the evening's "top plays." It's not known if the fight will be a TV fight, the original plan was for Rivera-Sakara to air on UFC Prelims on Spike.

Lyoto Machida Vs. Rampage Jackson at UFC 123
Former light heavyweight champions Lyoto Machida and Quinton "Rampage" Jackson are expected to meet at an as of yet unannounced event in the fall, possibly in November. UFC Continues Anti-Piracy Battle, Subpoenas Justin.tv & Ustream.tv
The world's largest pay-per-view content provider shows no signs of slowing its anti-piracy efforts. Ultimate Fighting Championship officials today announced they have subpoenaed Justin.tv and Ustream.tv – two sites with user-provided live video content – due to their broadcasts of illegally uploaded content, including the UFC's pay-per-view events. Zuffa LLC, the UFC's parent company, has served both sites subpoenas that demand they reveal the identities of users who uploaded UFC content. Today's release specifically points to one user from a single IP address who uploaded this year's UFC 108 and UFC 110 events, which drew 36,000 and 78,000 non-paying viewers, respectively. "I can't wait to go after the thieves that are stealing our content," UFC President Dana White stated. "This is a fight we will not lose." Today's release cites a section of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act that allows copyright owners to obtain subpoenas from a federal court that orders a service provider to disclose the identity of subscribers who allegedly engage in infringing activities. Due to the UFC's hefty PPV price tags, the promotion's content is a frequent target of privacy.

Top 10 most under-appreciated Fighters in MMA
In any major sport there will always be the big stars, the breakout performers, and the face of promotions. On the flip side there are the work horses, the guys that do the grunt work and don't get the fame, the fortune, and the respect. With that in mind, here is a run down of the Top 10 MMA fighters who are underappreciated and don't get the respect they deserve. Will Chris Leben make the list? --------------------------------------------------------------- I'm not sure some of the guys on there deserved it. Hieron should be higher IMO. Tyron Woodley hasn't been around long enough to be 'under-appreciated'. Jim Miller at least gets respect from the hardcores. Bisping, even with all the criticism, is a pretty big star. And as for Evan Dunham, I think people are finally recognizing him after his win over Tyson. What do you guys think?

Tavares Now Off UFC On Versus 2
Thiago Tavares officially is now off next month's UFC on Versus 2 fight card. He was originally scheduled to face newcomer Willamy Friere (Chequerim) but Friere had to pull off due to injury, and UFC can't find a replacement so Tavares is now off as well. He'll be moved to a future card. This leaves 10 fights for the 8/1 event.

MM-Nay: Vancouver Bids MMA Sanctioning "Adieu"
Well, it was fun while it lasted. Councillors in the city of North Vancouver voted to disband the North Vancouver Athletic Commission on Monday after former chairman Mirko Mladenovic was impeached and replaced by city bureaucrat Dave Rudberg. UFC recently opened a corporate office in Canada with the intention of spreading the gospel to unregulated areas like Toronto. And while fan support is at an all-time high, especially with Canadian stars like Georges St. Pierre going mainstream, politicians are not impressed.

Jorge Rivera Off UFC 118
A broken arm has forced Jorge Rivera out of his UFC 118 bout with fellow middleweight Alessio Sakara. Rivera first announced the news via his Facebook page, though UFC officials have not removed the bout from the official fight card. With ample time, UFC officials likely will search for a replacement, though without Rivera (a cast member on "The Ultimate Fighter 4"), the bout potentially could lose its spot on Spike TV's "UFC Prelims" broadcast. Rivera hopes to return in September or October. UPDATE: The replacement is Gerald Harris.

Fedor Emelianenko: 'Jiu-jitsu is nothing special -- my loss was caused by my personal mistake'
"Sambo is great. Jiu-jitsu is nothing special. We went over several jiu-jitsu guys like that before. I lost because of what happened. My loss was caused by my personal mistake in the cage… I lost my head. Wanted to finish it all as soon as possible. As far as the rumors about my last fight being set up... I was asked about it many times already. I will never go against my conscience and never betray my country like that. Money doesn't matter that much to me that I could lie to people. Since I lost to Werdum, it was meant to be. And I'm thankful to God it happened that way."

Massachusetts Eliminates Double Weigh-In Policy For MMA
A recent change in mixed martial arts regulation in the state of Massachusetts has eliminated the need for double weigh-ins. The change is the latest adjustment to regulation of MMA in Massachusetts, which also recently implemented the regulation of amateur MMA in the state. Massachusetts' previous double weigh-in policy, which will remain in place for boxing contests held within the state, called for fighters to weigh no more than 1.0625 times their maximum contract weight at the time of a fight. For instance, a 155-pound fighter could weigh no more than 164.7 pounds prior to fighting, while a light heavyweight's limit would top out at 217.8 pounds. The policy had been in place since the Massachusetts State Athletic Commission's inception in March. The policy would've affected UFC 118 had it still been in place.

Strikeforce Confirms Tournament To Determine #2 Women's 135 Contender
The first-ever female tournament in Strikeforce history is now complete. Strikeforce officials today announced that Hitomi Akano, Carina Damm, Maiju Kujala and Miesha Tate will compete in a single-night tournament at Strikeforce Challengers 10 on Aug. 13. Due to the one-night format, the tournament fights will be 3 3-minute rounds instead of 5-minute rounds. A reserve fight will be made later. The plan was originally to have it determine a #1 contender for the women's 135 title, but the winner now becomes the #2 contender-the winner will get a title shot, but they'll have to wait for Marloes Coenen, who is dropping to 135 from 145, to get a shot first. Sliva will be waiting on Gsp if he can make the weight
It could be the biggest fight in UFC history. It could break all the records. And according to UFC president Dana White, everyone keeps asking for it, so he might just have to give it to them. The longstanding fight fans have been asking for is to see widely regarded pound-for-pound king Anderson Silva match up with the fighter closely nipping at his heels for the top spot in UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre. The fight has been brought up to White for years, and both camps have expressed interest. and that means bringing in whoever is going to present the biggest challenge.

There's no pro boxer in Couture's camp to mimic Toney
"I have no intention and no illusion that I'm a world class boxer," said Couture. "I'm a mixed martial artist. I've won the majority of my fights by taking guys down, putting them on their back and punching the until they don't want to be punched anymore. That's not going to change." Couture has made interesting choice of training partners to try and replicate what Toney brings to the table. Couture didn't bring in any high level boxers and is working with his usual cast of characters.
