Dong Hyun Kim Gets Replacement Opponent Dominic Waters for UFC Fight Night in Seoul
Dong Hyun Kim has found a new dance partner for UFC Fight Night on Nov. 28 after losing his original opponent in a fight card shuffle.
Ultimate Fighting Championship over the weekend announced that the South Korean welterweight will take on Californian Dominic Waters in a three-round tilt at Olympic Gymnastics Arena in Seoul.
Kim’s original opponent, Jorge Masvidal, was pulled from their matchup to face Benson Henderson in the show’s main event after Thiago Alves came up injured.
UFC champ Joanna Jedrzejczyk reportedly heading to surgery for broken hand
It appears injury woes could be the only thing holding back Joanna Jedrzejczyk from dominating the UFC strawweight division for the foreseeable future.
Jedrzejczyk (11-0 MMA, 5-0 UFC) reportedly broke her right hand for the second time in as many fights when she battered challenger Valerie Letourneau (8-4 MMA, 3-1 UFC) en route to a unanimous-decision win in this past Saturday’s UFC 193 pay-per-view co-headliner.
The reigning 115-pound champ will undergo surgery in the near future to repair the damage, which is not in the same spot as her previous break, according to a report from MMAFighting.com.
Rousey’s coach: Holm wasn’t getting the better of Ronda in the striking
On Saturday night, 56,000 Australian fans witnessed the (literal) collapse of superstar Ronda Rousey when Holly Holm landed a thunderous head kick that separated the champ from her senses in the second round of the main event.
It was a surreal fight to experience. For the first time in her career, Rousey appeared lost and confused as she charged at Holm. She was outclassed in the striking department and was unable to take the fight to the ground on command. That signaled the beginning of the end for the former champion.
Rousey's coach, Edmond Tarverdyan later explained that Rousey simply followed the gameplan set ahead of the fight.
UFC leans toward Holly Holm vs. Ronda Rousey rematch, new champ agrees
The UFC doesn’t usually make fights on fight night.
But in the case of the spectacular upset seen at UFC 193, the promotion might make an exception.
UFC President Dana White said an immediate rematch between newly minted champ Holly Holm (10-0 MMA, 3-0 UFC) and Ronda Rousey (12-1 MMA, 6-1 UFC) “makes a lot of sense,” though, of course, he hedged with the usual disclaimer that he doesn’t do instant matchmaking.
White made it clear, however, that Holm’s head-kick knockout of the UFC star has upended the women’s bantamweight division.
“It changes a lot of things now,” he said. “The (potential Cristiane) ‘Cyborg’ (Justino) fight, some other stuff we were working on.”
Jorge Masvidal to Face Benson Henderson in New UFC Fight Night South Korea Headliner
The Ultimate Fighting Championship is targeting Jorge Masvidal to replace the injured Thiago Alves and face Benson Henderson at UFC Fight Night on Nov. 28.
Multiple outlets reported the new headliner on Saturday. TalkMMA first brought word via Twitter that Alves suffered a rib injury and would have to withdraw from the bout on Friday evening. Masvidal was originally scheduled to meet Dong Hyun Kim in a featured welterweight clash; it is currently unclear if Kim will be given a replacement opponent.
Jorge Masvidal in for injured Thiago Alves vs. Ben Henderson at UFC Fight Night 79
Ben Henderson has a new opponent for his upcoming fight in South Korea.
UFC veteran Thiago Alves was forced out of the five-round welterweight bout on Nov. 28 with a broken rib, and the former lightweight champion will now take on Jorge Masvidal in the main event in Seoul, multiple sources close to the situation told MMAFighting.com. Twitter user @TalkMMA first reported Alves’ injury.

Ben Askren officially scratched from ONE Championship 32 after opponent misses weight
Ben Askren waited seven months for his welterweight rematch with Luis Santos. Just hours before the fight, however, he found out it’s not going to happen.
After Santos missed weight by two pounds on Thursday, today’s ONE Championship 32 welterweight championship main event was downgraded to a non-title affair. Askren (14-0) demanded Santos (61-9-1) weigh in again on fight day at no more than 190 pounds, but the Brazilian failed to meet the requirements.
Due to Santos’ inability to keep his weight under that threshold, the originally scheduled headliner of the card at Singapore Indoor Stadium in Singapore will no longer take place.
ONE Championship CEO Victor Cui announced the news on Twitter. He said he was “disgusted” by the actions of Santos and accused him of being “scared” to face Askren.
'UFC Tonight' hosts Daniel Cormier, Kenny Florian push for Dan Henderson to retire
Should Dan Henderson retire? It’s a debate many have had over the past several years as the oldest active fighter on the UFC roster has fallen into a slump with six losses in his past eight bouts.
After more than 16 years of pro competition without a knockout loss, the 45-year-old Henderson (31-14 MMA, 8-8 UFC) has been stopped by strikes in three of his past six fights, the most recent a first-round knockout defeat at the hands – and feet – of Vitor Belfort at UFC Fight Night 77 earlier this month.

UFC officials today announced the bout, though it’s not clear if it’ll be at featherweight or bantamweight.
The latest UFC on FOX 18 card includes:
Anthony Johnson vs. Ryan Bader
Jake Ellenberger vs. Tarec Saffiedine
Olivier Aubin-Mercier vs. Joaquim Silva

Khabib Nurmagomedov not retiring but won't get desired Al Iaquinta matchup
Although another recent injury had Khabib Nurmagomedov considering retirement, he’s opted to fight on. But he won’t get his desired matchup.
According to “UFC Tonight’s” Ariel Helwani, Nurmagomedov (22-0 MMA, 6-0 UFC), who was forced out of next month’s bout at The Ultimate Fighter 22 Finale against fellow lightweight Tony Ferguson (19-3 MMA, 9-1 UFC) due a rib injury, has opted against retirement after speaking with his father/trainer and management team.
The 27-year-old Dagestan fighter hasn’t fought since April 2014 after a series of injuries, and the latest setback had him briefly considering calling it a career.
Veteran UFC flyweight John Dodson wants Thomas Almeida at bantamweight
John Dodson wants to shut down one of the brightest prospects at bantamweight when he makes his return to the weight class for his next bout.
After recently revealing his intentions to move back up to 135 pounds after two failed flyweight title bids, Dodson (17-7 MMA, 6-2 UFC) is reportedly aiming to make a splash and hand undefeated Brazilian prospect Thomas Almeida (20-0 MMA, 4-0 UFC) his first loss.
Dodson texted UFC matchmaker Sean Shelby to request the fight, according to a report by “UFC Tonight’s” Ariel Helwani.
