Derek Brunson vs. 'Jacare' slotted for Charlotte's UFC on FOX 27 headliner
Derek Brunson and Ronaldo Souza apparently are going to rematch after all. “Jacare” (24-5 MMA, 7-2 UFC) and Brunson (18-5 MMA, 9-3 UFC) recently drummed up interest in the fight on social media, though they couldn’t seen to agree on a date or location. 'Jacare' and Derek Brunson agree to rematch, but then things get complicated But Souza’s preference for a meeting at UFC Fight Night 125, which takes place Feb. 3 at Mangueirinho Gymnasium in the Brazilian city of Belem, seems to be nixed. Instead, Brunson gets his wish for a fight at UFC on FOX 27, which takes place Jan. 27 at Spectrum Center in Charlotte, N.C. UFC President Dana White suggested the fight was set on Tuesday, though he didn’t give a date. According to ESPN.com, however, Brunson said it’ll serve as UFC on FOX 27’s headliner.

If Georges St-Pierre doesn’t stay in the middleweight division to unify his championship, UFC President Dana White will not be happy – and that’s putting it mildly. In fact, the mere mention of St-Pierre (26-2 MMA, 20-2 UFC) potentially going back on his word brings White’s blood to a simmer.

Khabib Nurmagomedov recently caused a stir after he revealed Tony Ferguson declined to sign on the dotted line to defend his interim Lightweight title against him at UFC 219 on Dec. 30, 2017 in Las Vegas, Nevada. More recently, “The Eagle” took to social media to call out the division for only speaking his name when he’s on the sidelines. That didn’t sit too well with Ferguson, as he scoffed right back at the often-injured contender.

Francis Ngannou’s run toward UFC gold is an international tale of beating impossible odds
Francis Ngannou was never supposed to escape Cameroon. Despair was a fate he was born into, and where he would remain. It was a future that was written for him, even if it was one he could never truly accept. It’s hard to find hope when there is little school, when there are few jobs, where the future taunts you from a distance always beyond your reach.

Why are MMA referees seemingly so hesitant to take points? Marc Goddard explains
How many times have we seen it? A fighter, in a clinch up against the fence, sticks his or her fingers in and grabs the cage to help jockey for leverage. It can happen multiple times over the course of a contest and, even after verbal warnings are given for the prohibited maneuver, it still seems like referees are loathe to take a point away. Why is that? Why do referees view taking a point as more of a last-ditch effort rather than a regular procedure?
