The guy that walks away walks away with the unified, undisputed light heavyweight champion of the world." Those are the words of UFC President Dana White at the UFC 73 press conference when speaking about the fight between current UFC light heavyweight champion Quinton “Rampage” Jackson and Pride 205lb champion Dan Henderson that will take place at UFC 75 in England on September 8th.

COUTURE, JACKSON FALL SHORT AT ESPYS
(thefightnetwork.com)
Unbeaten Mayweather Gets Nod From Voters Outspoken WBC welterweight and super welterweight boxing champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. was named “Best Fighter” at the 2007 ESPY Awards tonight in Los Angeles, Calif. Mayweather outdistanced WBC featherweight champion Manny Paquiao and WBA welterweight champion Miguel Cotto in voting. For the first time ever, mixed martial artists were nominated in the category formally known as “Best Boxer,” with Randy Couture and Quinton Jackson leading the sport’s most distinguished. A standout in Japan’s PRIDE organization, Jackson bested longtime UFC light heavyweight champion Chuck Liddell with a first-round knockout at UFC 71 in May. Couture, meanwhile, has earned a whopping six UFC titles between the light heavyweight and heavyweight divisions over the last 10 years. The 43-year-old trailblazer came out of retirement last March to challenge UFC heavyweight champion Tim Sylvia at UFC 68. Couture waged a gripping five-round war against his 6-foot-10 foe, earning a unanimous decision.

UFC 75 not a PPV?
Found this over on mmanews.com According to an article on 411Mania.com, there is a possibility that UFC 75 "Champion vs. Champion" (Rampage Jackson vs. Dan Henderson, UFC title vs. PRIDE title) will be airing on HBO or Spike TV, as opposed to pay-per view. The report claims that PPV is still an option, obviously, but that despite the rocky relationship - HBO is a possibility as well. Spike TV would obviously also be another option, if the UFC were to go the free-TV route. We'll keep you covered on this one if anything develops, even if it turns out to be just another one of the many HBO-UFC rumors that fall short.

Chute Boxe leader confirms “courtship" of Wand and the UFC
(graciemag.com)
Rudimar carries Pan-Am torch Founder of Chute Boxe academy, Master Rudimar Fedrigo was one of the personalities chosen to carry the Pan-American torch when the Pan Rio-2007 flame passed through Curitiba. "Rudimar is an entrepreneurial example, besides being a very important person for sports in the state of Parana,” stated the secretary of Sports of Parana, RIcardo Gomyde, in a report on the official Chute Boxe site. "Chute Boxe became a reference worldwide for producing first-rate fighters, instilling discipline and dedication to sport,” Gomyde adds. “I was called up at the last minute, and it was a very gratifying experience to represent the martial arts at this party, I am thankful to secretary Gomyde,” Fedrigo comments to GRACIEMAG.com. The Pan-American torch was carried through Curitiba last Tuesday, the 3rd, by 82 people, both celebrities and athletes. The flame arrived in Rio de Janeiro today. Rudimar also commented on Chute Boxe's busy schedule, the "courtship" between the starts of the team and the UFC and the probability of a showdown between Wanderlei and Chuck Liddell. “How can I say it? The UFC is courting Wanderlei. And Dana White certainly always wanted this fight to happen, so I believe negotiations are going well. And Shogun is also involved in this courtship," laughs Fedrigo. "Wanderlei is training with enthusiasm, as though he were to fight tomorrow, and he as a symbol motivates the other athletes a lot in the gym, which is getting a busy schedule: Master Rafael travels tomorrow with the fighter Fabio Silva, who will be our newest fighter in K-1 Hero's, with which we have established a nice partnership. What's more, we are preparing the Storm tournament that starts on July 28, which will reward the best of the 16 people called up with a brand new car with a full tank of gas. And we are working on putting on the biggest Jiu-Jitsu GP Brazil has ever seen, with 4 thousand reais prizes and two weight categories, in the famouse Arame Opera house, in Curitiba, in the middle of August or September," he concludes.

White not worried about the competition
(sports.espn.go.com)
You wouldn't expect a wallflower to be in charge of the largest sanctioning body in mixed martial arts. And since Dana White, 36, has been UFC president since Jan. 15, 2001, you get the feeling he knows how to get things done. The former boxer and manager of UFC fighters Tito Ortiz and Chuck Liddell sat down for an interview with ESPN.com and -- surprise, surprise -- he didn't pull any punches.

Nick Diaz requests fight with Frank Shamrock.
Nick Diaz, who is signed with ProElite, has requested to face Frank Shamrock as soon as possible. After a spectacular win against Takanori Gomi, Diaz seems intent on enrolling himself for higher profile fights. With both fighters fighting in the same organization this fight seems the logical next step in what would be an MMA fan's dream come true. "I watched his last fight and no disrespect intended but I think I would whoop his ass.", stated Diaz. A formal offer of intent has been delivered to the promoters to set this fight up and now we await their response.

Cage Rage Being sued for copyright infringment by UFC
(sherdog.com)
With more money and interest in mixed martial arts than ever before, it's clear the global expansion of the UFC has had a massive affect on the growth of the sport. Putting on two shows in quick succession, as well as planning a return to London for UFC 75 in September, the UFC will have quickly left its mark on the United Kingdom, the first country outside the U.S. it has targeted.
