UFC Is Highest Bidder in “Fedor” Sweepstakes

Of all his suitors, the UFC has offered PRIDE heavyweight champion Fedor Emelianenko (26-1 MMA, 0-0 UFC) the most lucrative fight deal, but the contract’s numerous restrictions and the organization’s lack of communication could keep the MMA legend from joining the UFC, said Emelianenko’s manager, Vadim Finkelstein.

Daley vs Diaz?

There has been confusion of late surrounding Paul Daley and where he will be fighting next – Nick Diaz in Elite XC or Mark Weir in Cage Rage? Daley himself stated post Cage Rage 22 that he was offered Jake Shields or Nick Diaz, Shields then dropped out of the mix and Daley confirmed that he would be step up to fight Diaz for the 160lbs title. With Diaz announcing that he will be taking part in the September 15th show and Daley already being booked for the 22nd of September in Cage Rage, something didn’t add up.

Irvine, CA – On Saturday, August 18, Professional Shooto Japan will make its much-anticipated foray into the U.S. market in Orange County California at The No Limits Event Center. For its venture into the American market Professional Shooto Japan will showcase some of it’s brightest stars including Shooto veteran Kenichiro Togashi taking on current Gladiator Challenge Lightweight World Champion Brian Cobb. Togashi is coming off a first round submission victory over Darren Crisp in his U.S. debut in April, while Cobb recently submitted Shawn Bias and John Reedy in route to winning the Gladiators Challenge Lightweight Championship.

The stable of fighters now in official free agency after the Zuffa buyout of Pride continues to grow on almost a daily basis and one of the most sought after light heavyweight prizes on the market, Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou, will not be signing with Elite XC as many had thought going into the Shamrock/Baroni Elite XC produced pay-per-view that took place last month.

We’ll soon have some medicine for bone-headed MMA fans. Former UFC middleweight champion Rich Franklin and novelist Jon F. Merz have teamed up for a new MMA-related title about the sport, and more specifically, the UFC’s brand of “cage fighting.” And it’s appropriately called The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Ultimate Fighting.

Former PRIDE middleweight ace Wanderlei Silva (Pictures) is coming to America. "I'm moving to the U.S., but I still don't know where I'll live. I'm in doubt between Las Vegas and Florida," Silva stated. "I'm going there to see a house … and after this I'll decide." Spike may not be the only cable network offering UFC content. The organization is in discussions with HBO, and has had preliminary discussions with ESPN, about securing a distribution deal for additional live events and other UFC content, according to executives from both networks.
