UFC now targeting November for New York event
The UFC once again had to pull the plug on a planned New York City debut date. The Empire State's asinine ban on mixed martial arts remains in place, meaning a planned April 23 MSG date needed to be scrapped. But as the UFC once again brought its revenue across the river to New Jersey, this time for UFC on FOX 18 on Saturday night, it remains committed to its effort to get the sport legalized in New York.

Scott Coker plans 'serious discussions' with Wanderlei Silva about Bellator fight
MMA legend Wanderlei Silva might not have a very difficult time finding work after the UFC officially released him from his UFC contract earlier this month. Bellator President Scott Coker said he’s interested in acquiring the services of “The Axe Murderer” and plans to meet with Silva (35-12-1) in the coming weeks about a deal. “Not every free agent is a fit over here, but Wanderlei is someone we would like to have a serious discussion with,” Coker told MMAjunkie Radio. “I think he’s in Brazil right now, and I think he’ll be back in town next month, and we’ll have some dialogue.”

White: Ex-champ Cain Velasquez headed for back surgery, 4-week recovery expected
Former UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez will reportedly undergo surgery following his most recent injury and fight withdrawal. According to UFC President Dana White, Velasquez is expected to make a complete recovery within four weeks of going under the knife. Velasquez (13-2 MMA, 11-2 UFC) was injured in the lead-up to his title rematch with champ Fabricio Werdum (20-5-1 MMA, 8-2 UFC), which was expected to headline UFC 196 on Feb. 6 (the event has since been renamed UFC Fight Night 82). He was forced out of the fight less than two weeks prior to the title bout, an occurrence that has unfortunately become a routine part of Velasquez’s career. The former two-time champ has required surgery for shoulder and knee injuries over the past few years. He can apparently add a back surgery to that list, as White revealed on “Opie with Jim Norton.” “Cain has got problems with a disc in his back, and he’s actually going to have surgery,” White said. “The good part is it’s not going to be long. He’s going to have the surgery and will probably need four weeks to recover. So that’s good news.”

Dana White responds to Aldo's rematch request: 'It's tough to make that fight again'
It appears Jose Aldo might be sitting on the sidelines for a very long time if he’s not willing to stray from his demand of a title shot or Conor McGregor rematch for his next contest. Aldo (25-2 MMA, 7-1 UFC), the former UFC featherweight champion who was knocked out by McGregor (19-2 MMA, 7-0 UFC) in just 13 seconds to lose the title at UFC 194 in December, recently revealed what he wants next after his first defeat in 10 years. “Scarface” had torn through all comers in the UFC and WEC before he encountered McGregor. The fight was one of the most anticipated in recent memory but ended before most knew what had happened when “The Notorious” landed a clean strike early on for the knockout.

But Koscheck pulled out of the event due to injury, which derailed the plan to showcase both fighters ahead of a second meeting.
