Randy Couture knows he has an advantage over Mark Coleman when it comes to conditioning
(mmamania.com)
He doesn't throw a lot of combinations, but he's a very powerful guy. If you stand around in front of him he's gonna try and hit you with some good hooks and overhand rights. He's gonna follow those with a straight double leg. Knowing what you're looking for there and being ready for that is a big key. The more times you can stuff Mark and keep him from taking you down or make him work real hard to take you down is gonna pay dividends on the conditioning side of things even in a three round fight.

Pros Pick: Diaz vs. Zaromskis
(sherdog.com)
Michael Guymon: Diaz takes this one by annoying his opponent to death. Mike Ciesnolevicz: Nick Diaz always wins fights that I think he will lose. He has become one of the top guys in the game with a very unorthodox yet well-rounded style, not to mention he is as tough as they come. I think he executes his game plan perfectly and wears Zaromskis down by throwing hundreds of punches before finishing him with a kimura or rear choke. Diaz then gets on the microphone and says, "What do you want from me man? I just woke up!" Stav Economou: Marius is good, but not good enough to beat Diaz. Diaz wins (via) second-round submission. Tom Gavrilos: This fight will go to Diaz. He will outwork Marius and most likely catch him in a submission. Ray Elbe: Nick Diaz proves once again why medical marijuana should be supported by everyone in the USA by winning this fight at 4:20 of the first round with a choke so tight it literally vaporizes Zaromskis to sleep. Robin Black: I would put some money on Zaromskis for the upset, but, frankly, Diaz scares the s--t out of me. He might hunt down everyone who bets against him and cut them all. I don't want to get cut. Especially in the face. No, I'll just go with Diaz. Benji Radach: I gotta go with our American fighter Nick Diaz. He has to watch out for that left tricky high kick, but I think Nick knows how to train and can prepare to take that out of his game. CIRCLE TO THE LEFT NICK (laughs)! I think Nick is more of a veteran, and his style of boxing will throw the foreign fighter off of his game. Kultar Gill: Nick Diaz by submission in the first round. Soon as it hits the ground, it's going to be over. Gabe Ruediger: Nick is more well-rounded and should pull it off. Zaromskis can always land that head kick, which he seems to be landing at will, but Nick’s very game standing and a black belt in BJJ. Stephane Vigneault: Nick Diaz all the way by TKO. He is incredible since he left the UFC. Roland Sarria: Diaz will press him and will win by stoppage in the first round. Ricardo Liborio: Diaz by submission, round one. Erik Paulson: Nick Diaz is at the top of his game right now, and I really enjoy watching him fight. He really imposes his outstanding game plan every time he fights. For me, with his upcoming fight, I see him the victor. He has all ranges covered and is definitely great at all three ranges, which makes him a dangerous opponent. Din Thomas: I got Nick Diaz by Stockton gang signs beoootch! Zac George: Marius could head kick the Diazinator into a full-blown coma. However, I see Diaz “smoking” him on the ground. Jake Shields: This should be a great fight, and I have an obvious bias since I am good friends and training partners with Nick. But that being said, I think this fight will start out super exciting and high-paced. But Nick will bring too much pressure and will end up submitting or KOing him late in the second round. Duke Roufus: Nick Diaz by mean mug, b--ch! Luigi Fioravanti: Marius is unpredictable and unorthodox on his feet, which can pose a threat to any fighter. Diaz is tough as hell and has fought some of the best. He is more experienced than Marius and very good on the ground, where he will be most dangerous. Diaz by submission. Micah Miller: Nick by submission. I don’t think there is such a thing as jiu jitsu in Lithuania. Kit Cope: Zaromskis is a bad dude, but Nick is a world of problems for any man. Everybody looks at Nick’s punches and thinks that they won’t be effective, but Nick has a way of slowly draining the life out of you and then finishing you just before you’d take a nap on your own. Plus he can take a helluva wallop! My prediction is that exactly that will happen to Zaromskis. I see another Gomi/Diaz-type of battle with Nick again finishing the fight after s--t talking at Marius the whole way through! Pros who picked Diaz: 20 Pros who picked Zaromskis: 0 Pros who couldn’t decide: 0

Strikeforce Challengers 7 Set For 3/26
(mmajunkie.com)
The main card appears set for the March 26 Strikeforce Challengers event following today's unveiling of five matchups. The event takes place at the Save Mart Center in Fresno, Calif., and the night's main card airs on Showtime. And while Strikeforce veterans such as Luke Stewart, Miesha Tate and Justin Wilcox are slotted for the card, so, too, is Lavar Johnson, a shooting victim who was clinging to life just seven months ago. Johnson was at a family barbecue this past July 4 when a group opened fire on the event. Johnson and his cousin were both struck by bullets, Johnson lived; his cousin didn't. Also set for the card is Ron Humphrey, coming off a loss to Brett Rogers, facing off against George Bush III.

Fedor Emelianenko or Brock Lesnar: Who Is the More Powerful Brand?
(bloodyelbow.com)
Businessweek's decision to rank Fedor Emelianenko ahead of Brock Lesnar in the power 100 ranking of athletes has spurred a lot of discussion. On its face, it's absurd. Both men compete in American promotions, and Brock Lesnar is a far bigger star. He makes more money, his name drives much more media interest, and his record on PPV is second to none.

WEC Quick Quote: Jens Pulver can still compete if he stops being dumb
(mmamania.com)
"This fight is very important man. I can't lose 5 fights in a row, come on. It can't happen, so this fight means a lot man. I feel like I have been losing because I was dumb, you know what I'm saying? I'm just getting caught in dumb stuff. even in the first fight with Urijah, don't get me wrong, he is fast, but I made his hands look faster because I fought dumb. But I want to show everyone that I can still fight and that I can still compete."

Fight Path: Former Canadian paratrooper William Romero waited a year for Bellator slot
(mmajunkie.com)
William Romero might have taken even longer to start his professional MMA career if several organizations hadn't teamed for an open Canadian tryout. That was a couple years ago, when about 300 guys met at an Ontario gym to work out and spar in front of scouts looking for new talent. Romero, though, might have been prepared more than any of them.

Junior Dos Santos Is Drinking Milk And Kicking @$$
(mmamania.com)
Remember kids, milk really does a body good. Ed Soares makes sure to point that out when talking about his fast-rising Heavyweight client, also adding they are in no hurry to get a UFC Heavyweight Title shot. "We're in no hurry for a title shot. He's only 25 years old, so he's still a growing kid. Every time I see him he seems like he's a little bigger. He's drinking his milk and just getting bigger and stronger. I think we'd like to see Rodrigo beat Cain (Velasquez) and have that title shot, but whatever the UFC decides is fine with us. They've given us some great fights, some incredible opportunities, and we're just going to take whatever they give us. We never pick our opponents, so whoever they put in front of us, we'll take with a smile on our face."

With planned retirement at 30, Gegard Mousasi searching for best career options
(mmajunkie.com)
LOS ANGELES – Strikeforce light heavyweight champion Gegard Mousasi has no plans to fight until his body fails him. When the 24-year-old hits the big 3-0, he's out. With that in mind, he has set strict goals for his career's path, including a jump to heavyweight in 18 months. Before he bulks up, though, he wants to fight six to eight times in 2010 and plans to start by fighting Muhammed "King Mo" Lawal in April. He also plans to participate in a DREAM eight-man light heavyweight tournament rumored for June. "I'm going to try to stay very busy," Mousasi told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) on Wednesday. "It's better to stay in shape the whole year, fight a lot, than fight and be fat again and train hard again. I don't like it. I like to be in shape the whole year, be in top shape, and then I'm going to take a break for one or two months (at the end of the year)."

Vitor Belfort Is Going To Moonwalk Over Anderson Silva
(mmamania.com)
And evidently he doesn't plan to beat him in a dancing contest at UFC 112, only in fighting. He says he may not have the flashy style that Silva does, but his style is his. "[My punching’s] not explosive, it’s performance. What do you expect to see, Michael Jackson dancing? I am a relaxed man yes, but fighting is my job. My style is my style."
