UFC's T.J. Dillashaw wants short rest, open to fight with 'name' Brad Pickett
Following a weekend win at UFC on FOX 7, T.J. Dillashaw is looking at the bantamweight division's rankings and hoping to fight one of the names listed above him. Dillashaw (8-1 MMA, 4-1 UFC) picked up an impressive first-round TKO win over Hugo Viana (7-1 MMA, 2-1 UFC) at this past Saturday's event. It marked his fourth consecutive win, and in the latest USA TODAY Sports/MMAjunkie.com MMA bantamweight rankings, he moved from No. 14 to No. 13. Dillashaw believes Viana was an underrated opponent. "He doesn't have a huge name behind him, but he's a very tough fighter, and people are going to start to realize that," Dillashaw told MMAjunkie.com Radio (www.mmajunkie.com/radio). He hopes that's not the case with his next opponent. Dillashaw believes he deserves a Top 10 opponent, and preferably it'll come against someone with an already-established name. He mentioned No. 6-ranked Brad Pickett and fast-rising prospect Erik Perez as possibilities. Pickett, especially, would give Dillashaw a big name on his resume, which he knows is crucial when it comes to earning title shots.

Recent UFC competitor "Thrilling" Pat Schilling today announced his MMA retirement at the rather youthful age of 24. Schilling (5-2 MMA, 0-2 UFC) today made the announcement via social media. Schilling said his ultimate goal in the sport was to get the UFC. He accomplished the feat just two years after his January 2010 pro debut, though he ultimately suffered a submission defeat to Daniel Pineda (in a late-notice fight) and a decision loss to Max Holloway upon his arrival in the world's biggest fight promotion.
Miesha Tate vs. Liz Carmouche for UFC on FOX 8? Depends on doctor's clearance

MMAFighting.com's Ariel Helwani reported the news on Tuesday's edition of Fuel TV's UFC tonight...
UFC champ Georges St-Pierre: Lightweight move likely easier than middleweight
For years, UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre has teased the idea of moving up to 185 pounds. While he's not ruling out such a change, he believes a cut to lightweight would be much easier. "I don't do much cutting," St-Pierre said on Tuesday's new edition of "The Joe Rogan Experience." "It would be easier for me to go fight at 155 than fighting at 185. I would be more at my weight naturally at 155. "There's guys at 155 that walk around at 190 like me. They think I'm big because I have a large frame, but I'm not a big guy. I'm not thick."

Benson Henderson Addresses The Fans On Finishing Rate
I know I’m not the best (yet, ;-D), I was never the fastest, or strongest, or most athletic, or most technical or anything like that. Go ahead and ask any of my high school or college wrestling coaches. I was never picked 1st in dodgeball or basketball or soccer or football games growing up but one thing I always had was the will power and determination to NEVER give up, to not be afraid to open up my heart and give all of myself, to not hold anything back for the swim back to shore.

Fresh off sweep, Team Alpha Male's Duane Ludwig enjoying life more as trainer than fighter

Signal to Noise: UFC on FOX 7's best and worst
There was much to love about UFC on FOX 7. The card itself delivered in almost every way possible. The less than meaningful UFC vs. Strikeforce rivalry was nevertheless fun to hang onto. The San Jose crowd maybe booed a bit much, but still showed up to watch. The FOX production of UFC events continues to elevate the entire affair. And yet, there was also enough to dislike. It would certainly be nice if a Benson Henderson bout didn't end in controversy. It'd also be swell if the California State Athletic Commission didn't think it was a swell idea for a Cesar Gracie affiliate instructor to judge a bout where a Cesar Gracie-affiliated fighter is competing. It's time to separate the winners from the losers, the best from the worst, and the signal from the noise...
Chael Sonnen says Jon Jones is 'considerably better' than Anderson Silva
For the better part of two years, Chael Sonnen went out of his way to denigrate Anderson Silva. In the process of twice challenging the UFC middleweight champion and twice coming up short, Sonnen taunted Silva, his homeland of Brazil, made a fake middleweight title belt he carried around, and so on. Heading into his UFC 159 main event on Saturday night in which he faces Jon Jones for the light heavyweight title, Sonnen is still taking shots at his conqueror. On Monday's media teleconference promoting the event, Sonnen went out of his way to say he considered Jones a better fighter than Silva, the man most consider the world's best pound-for-pound fighter...

And if successful in defending his belt this fall, Jones told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) he'll shift focus to competing in superfights and the heavyweight division.
