Bonnar braces for return
The recession has negatively impacted millions of people, who have lost their jobs and their homes. Stephan Bonnar has been struggling the past few months, though his financial woes have little to do with the economic downturn. But when you’re a professional fighter who gets paid only when you compete, a serious injury is a devastating fact of life. Bonnar missed all of 2008 and will fight for the first time in 15 months on Saturday at UFC 94 when he meets Jon Jones at the MGM Grand Garden.

Karo Parisyan set to come out like a tractor against ‘Stun Gun’ and kick his ass
“It’s very important. It’s important to beat him in a very violent way…. I’m going to come out from bell to bell and just try to crush him. I want to run through him like a tractor bro — like a tank. I have every intention to hurt him with everything I do until the fights over…. It’s time for me to get back on track, get back to training and back on the winning track. I have to start kicking everybody’s ass, doing some magic and some crazy Judo throws. I want to do stuff in the cage that you don’t see everyday…. I have to bring the old Karo back. I have to bring that aggressive style back to be a contender and become a champion.”

Affliction's future far from guaranteed according to Atencio
By all appearances the Affliction 2 card was a rousing success. Over 13,000 fans packed the Honda Center to see a very good fight card highlighted by Fedor Emelianenko's dramatic win over Andrei Arlovski. Vitor Belfort's knockout of Matt Lindland was unreal. Paul Buentello gave a boxing lesson to Kiril Sidelnikov. Babalu's precision against Sokoudjou was fun to watch. And even Gilbert Yvel fighting as well he did on the bottom of a mount for three rounds, was intriguing. Yahoo! Sports' Kevin Iole reported that the event had a paid attendance of 8,946 with $1,512,750 gate. Affliction VP Tom Atencio was beaming afterwards but is proceeding with caution. He threw out an interesting line during the post-fight press conference (Full audio here): "These guys are the ones. These guys are the warriors. They put their lives on the line and fight and train hard," Atencio before a long pause. "Hopefully, there's someone out there who can give them another home and hopefully that will continue to be us."

UFC 100 will be July 11 at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas
UFC 100 will be July 11 at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. MMA is still not legal in New York, let alone sanctioned. If Liddell and Silva win their upcoming fights, against Mauricio “Shogun” Rua and Thales Leites, respectfully, it could occur, but I doubt it. For what it’s worth, White insists he hasn’t begun to work on matchmaking for that show yet.

GSP '' It's A Fight That's Going To make History''
Being a part of the biggest fight in UFC history could rattle a lot of fighters. With millions watching all over the world and thousands of fans in attendance, just about anybody could feel the nerves shaking their body, or the butterflies in their stomach. But one fighter who is as calm as can be is UFC welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre, who isn't thinking about hype, promotion or fan fare. He's only thinking about one thing. B.J. Penn.

Another Reason Why BJ Penn vs. Georges St. Pierre 2 Is So Monumental
Dave Meltzer nails it: It is the first time in UFC history that, not just champions, but dominant champions who are on that night in their physical primes and the best in the world in their respective weight classes, will face off. The winner is basically guaranteed a spot in the UFC Hall of Fame. The loser, well, there’s a good chance he’s ending up there as well, but may have to take a longer road to get there.

Jamie Varner: Frank Mir's Commentating Was Skewed
According to WEC Lightweight Champion Jamie Varner, UFC Interim Heavyweight Champion and WEC commentator Frank Mir is clearly a far better fighter than commentator. That or, at least according to Varner, Mir is a Donald Cerrone nuthugger and thinks his commentary on Sunday's fight was bs.

Despite Affliction loss, humbled Gilbert Yvel happy to be back in U.S.
More than an hour after his third-round submission loss to Josh Barnett, Gilbert Yvel took his seat at the "Affliction: Day of Reckoning" post-event press conference. Despite a swollen face, busted lip and trickles of blood coming from his mouth, the heavyweight fighter was neither dejected nor remorseful. In fact, for a fighter heavily criticized for his past in-fight antics, the slight smile coming from Yvel's busted mug almost gave a sense of relief.
