Rick Bassman Files Lawsuit Against WCO's Bruce Bellocchi
In what becomes the next step in the saga of the cancelled WCO event on January 12th. Rick Bassman, owner of Valor Fighting and Management, has filed suit against WCO Promoter Bruce Bellocchi. Bassman, who met up with Bruce Bellocchi back in October of '07, had some of his fighters fighting on Bellocchi's Nov '07 card. After meeting up with Bellocchi, who Bassman calls "charming and seductive", discussions began about Bassman and Bellocchi doing buisness together to promote a card in January. The deal was that Valor fighting would be providing their license to promote events to Bellocchi so as to put on the January 12th show. In short, the contract stated that the WCO would handle all marketing and pre negotiation with fighters to decide on their purses. Valor would be providing the license and be handling all production, something they had a lot of experience in. Financially, the contract stated that WCO would pay $20,000 to rent the license. Two main clauses in the contract were that WCO would cover all cost for the show and the second was that Valor had no financial responsibility for costs pretaining to the show

The 10 Greatest Post-Fight Meltdowns
I'm no physician -- barely capable of applying a Band-Aid, even -- but I'm nonetheless going to petition the American Medical Association to consider acknowledging a new phenomenon: PFADS, or Post-Fight Adrenal Dump Syndrome. This debilitating affliction has compelled many a combat athlete into making bizarre proclamations or exhibiting odd behavior in the moments immediately following a bout. Chemically, it's the result of the body unable to deal with the massive adrenaline surge that accompanies a hard-earned victory (and occasionally, a devastating loss). Athletes become manic, unpredictable and perhaps even dangerous to nearby civilians.

Aleksander Emelianenko Expects April 11 Fight with Josh Barnett
Aleksander Emelianenko (12-3), a highly ranked heavyweight (and the younger brother of famed fighter Fedor Emelianenko), will next fight April 11 for the upstart M-1 Global organization, and the Russian expects his opponent to be Josh Barnett (20-5). News of the potential bout was posted on Emelianenko’s official website at www.alex.mixfight.ru. The as-of-yet-unannounced M-1 Global event is expected to take place in Chicago. The Emelianko brothers’ manager, Vadim Finkelstein, recently sold the M-1 organization to a group of American investors who restructured the fight promotion. As its first order of business, the organization signed Fedor to a long-term deal. The organization’s CEO, longtime MMA agent and promoter Monte Cox, recently stated that the organization had planned for a February debut date but instead pushed it back a few months to allow more time for signing talent. If the organization does sign Barnett for the fight, it could signal another loss for the UFC.
