Jon Jones vs. Floyd Mayweather? If it was all hands, 'Bones' said it would 'probably be a pretty competitive match'
(mmamania.com)
Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones thinks he could hang on the feet with Floyd Mayweather Jr., the best pound-for-pound boxer in the world. It helps that Jones is 6'4" tall, walks around at about 220 pounds and has an 84.5" reach. Mayweather is 5'8" tall, walks around at about 150 pounds and has a 72" reach. Unfortunately, silly little "Bones" doesn't realize that "Money" already knocked out the Big Show at WrestleMania XXIV back in 2008, a 7'1" giant who weighs nearly 500 pounds. Jones tells the gang at Power 105.1 (via Larry Brown) that nobody would want to see it anyway. "To be honest with you, if it was all hands, it would probably be a pretty competitive match. But that's not fighting, either. You can't be at the bar and be like, alright, no kicking, no taking me down, don't stretch my shirt out. It's not like that. What I do, I consider it to be the true art of fighting. To do everything. Fighting Floyd Mayweather wouldn't even be right. Nobody would want to see that. James Toney did it about two years ago. He lost in the first round. Don't mess with an MMA fighter. You don't want to do that. It's a bad look."

Chuck Liddell speaks out against UFC fighters avoiding the finish just to secure a win
(mmamania.com)
Remember when Chuck Liddell knocked out Renato Sobral with a head kick back in 2002? That set off a string of winning performances where "The Iceman" was able to win nine straight mixed martial arts (MMA) fights by way of knockout or technical knockout, making him one of the most popular fighters in Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). Right when MMA experienced its boom in popularity. That's something the now-retired Liddell wants to see more of from this generation of fighters. And he's not just a UFC Hall-of-Famer calling shots from his couch, he's the promotion's new Vice President of Business Development and he wants to develop a more exciting product. From his conversation with U-T San Diego: "I'd really have to talk to the guys to see if that's really what they're doing. I see it like guys are trying a lot more to just get their win so they can get their next fight. When we were doing it, it was a lot more about just going out and fighting. I hate hearing in a UFC corner ‘you won the first four rounds, just stay away from him this round.' The guy doesn't have a knockout punch, hasn't taken you down the whole fight, why do you have to go be afraid of him? Go out and win! Make it exciting, go knock him out, finish the fight." Liddell has a point.
