Jose Aldo requests his release from the UFC
UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor is fighting lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez at UFC 205, and Jose Aldo has had enough. Aldo, who beat Frankie Edgar for the interim featherweight title at UFC 200 in July, was hoping to finally get his rematch with "The Notorious" after that victory, but instead saw the Irish star get a shot for the 155-pound belt at New York City’s UFC 205 after beating Nate Diaz in a rematch at 170 pounds.

Dana White: Roy Nelson ‘needs to be buried’ for kicking Big John McCarthy
Roy Nelson was upset at referee Big John McCarthy for not stopping his heavyweight bout with Antonio Silva when the Brazilian was knocked down, and kicked the referee moments after the fight was finally stopped Saturday night at UFC Fight Night 95. Despite Roy Nelson's apology after the event, UFC president Dana White is not happy with him. Days after the UFC event in Brasilia, Brazil, White went on UFC Unfiltered podcast and criticized the longtime heavyweight veteran for his action. "You can’t apologize for that," White said. "You don’t ever, ever put your f**king hands on a referee, or your feet, for any reason whatso f**king ever. You don’t do it. He needs to be buried. He went over there and he put his foot on his ass to like push him over, you know what I mean? Was flipping him off, yelling whatever. You wanna flip a ref off, there is never, ever a situation where you put your f**king hands on a referee. Ever. You can’t apologize for that." "I’ve been traveling since the fight so I haven’t seen what’s going on, but if the Brazilian athletic commission doesn’t reign on him, man, it’s not good," White said. "You don’t ever put your hands on a referee. I don’t care what the circumstances are, you don’t do. And listen, we don’t always agree with them, we have our favorites, we have our least favorites, [Steve] Mazzagatti, you know. The guy, no matter how good or whatever you feel about him, they are there for your safety. They are there to keep you safe. F**king, that dope isn’t the… you know what I mean?" "This guy is the f**king judge of when a fight should or shouldn’t be stopped? You’re a fighter, you go until the referee tells you to stop. John McCarthy is very qualified in what he does, he’s been here a lot longer than f**king Roy Nelson has been. And for Roy Nelson to go over and put his f**king hands on a referee, it can’t happen. It can never happen. But John is sitting there in his knees, tending to Bigfoot, and you come up behind him and f**king kick him? It’s despicable, it’s disgusting, it can never f**king happen, ever again."

Dana White: Ronda Rousey interested in fighting Cris Cyborg, could do it at 140
The potential for a women's superfight between Ronda Rousey and Cris "Cyborg" Justino is still alive, according to UFC president Dana White. Speaking on the UFC Unfiltered podcast, White said the former UFC women's bantamweight champion is interested in fighting the current Invicta and former Strikeforce featherweight champion. "Ronda wants to fight her," White said. "We'll have to figure out at what weight to fight. But Ronda wants that fight. ... Ronda could do [1]40."

Dana White said he’s working on Khabib Nurmagomedov vs. Michael Johnson for UFC 205
Khabib Nurmagomedov might not be getting a title shot, but he could be given a nice consolation prize. UFC president Dana White said Tuesday on ESPN's SportsCenter that he is working on a fight between Nurmagomedov and fellow lightweight contender Michael Johnson for UFC 205 on Nov. 12 in New York. The headliner for that event, of course, will be Eddie Alvarez defending his lightweight title against Conor McGregor, which White announced Monday night. "Khabib was also supposed to get a title fight at 155 pounds," White said. "Khabib called and says, ‘Alright, I get it. Conor is getting this fight? Put me on New York, too.' So, he wants to fight Michael Johnson."

Dana White: Conor McGregor will have to give up a title after UFC 205
Conor McGregor will have to give up a title, after all. Just not until after UFC 205, according to Dana White. The UFC president said Tuesday on SportsCenter that McGregor will go into the lightweight title fight with Eddie Alvarez on Nov. 12 as the featherweight champion — with the chance to make history and become the first fighter to hold two UFC belts at the same time. If McGregor wins, though, one of those belts will have to be forfeited. "He wants to try to gain both belts and he will give up one of the titles after that fight in New York," White said. Which one? White wasn't telling, replying "good question." "He's got some stuff going on right now, some personal stuff that I'm sure he'll announce when he's ready," White said. "But this fight made sense." White said he and McGregor argued about him coming back for UFC 205 due to the injury, but McGregor told him "I know my body better than you do," White said. White was asked what's it like negotiating with a guy like McGregor. "It's not that bad," White said. "He's an intelligent guy. And the thing that I love and respect about Conor McGregor is that he wants to fight everybody. He's my kind of guy."

Chris Weidman vs. Yoel Romero announced for UFC 205
Well, the UFC's maiden voyage to New York's Madison Square Garden got big in a hurry. On Monday night, UFC president Dana White announced that Conor McGregor will again attempt to make history by becoming the first dual champion in UFC history against current lightweight kingpin Eddie Alvarez. That was the main event that many people were holding out hope for, given the scope of the event. Then on Tuesday, White also made official that Long Island's own Chris Weidman would face Yoel Romero in a middleweight bout for the Nov. 12 card. White made the announcement while making an appearance on The Boomer & Carton Show.

Coach Wink says Browne went to a ‘boxing coach and ‘put all his eggs in one basket’
Coach Mike Winkeljohn offered his thoughts on former student Travis Browne and his lack of improvement under “boxing coach” Edmond Tarverdyan. "I think he went to a boxing coach and tried to learn just that style and he's put all of his eggs in that one basket," Coach Winkeljohn told Submission Radio. "The problem with that is, MMA is big and sometimes you have to pull all the tools out of your tool box. If the few tools that you decide to bring to the party don't work, you're kind of screwed. But if you have access to more tools and more variety, you can do more things and then the unpredictableness comes along and makes even those first tools more effective." Coach Winkeljohn also added that he isn't necessarily interested in working with Browne again, and is instead more concerned with the students already under his wing. "I will never say never, but at the moment I don't want him. It's just one of those things. I don't dislike him, but he left and I have my other guys now that I'm focused on. And, you know, he left and he said some things about how he's learning these skills he didn't have before."

Coach Wink on Jones vs. Stipe: ‘Nobody beats Jon Jones but himself’
Coach Mike Winkeljohn gave his thoughts on a potential heavyweight match-up between Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic. "Well (Stipe would be) the scariest fight to date because it's the one-punch power and then it's a strength of someone that can be on top of you," Winkeljohn told Submission Radio. "And Stipe is very, very strong and because of that one-punch power it's scary. It makes people second-guess what they're doing. So for that reason it's kind of the scariest fight in that way, but it's kind of like fighting (Anthony) Johnson or anyone else like that -?? if you can avoid the big punches, then Jon Jones can dominate." While Jones' unprecedented title reign took a tempestuous turn several years ago, Winkeljohn remains confident that Jones' only true battle is against himself. "I'm a big believer in what Jon Jones can do. I told everybody a long time ago, nobody beats Jon Jones but himself, that's what I said. Nobody studies as hard as Jon Jones, looking at tape. He knows what his fighter's going to do before he does it and Jon can beat anybody out there. I think he's going to just continue to dominate the Light Heavyweight division if he wants. If he wants to step up for Stipe, we just can't get hit by those big punches. Other than that, I think Jon could dominate that fight."

Nutritionist George Lockhart says Brazilian commission allowed Cris Cyborg to weigh-in slightly above 141
Much of the drama surrounding UFC Fight Night 95 focused not on whether Cristiane "Cyborg" Justino would defeat UFC newcomer Lina Lansberg, but instead whether the Invicta FC featherweight champion would be able to successfully make the UFC's mandated catchweight of 140 pounds. Ultimately, Justino succeeded in her goal, cutting down from 165 pounds to the one-pound allowance of 141 in less than a week. However, video released by Justino's team in the days after official weigh-ins showed that Justino may have tipped the scales a few ounces above her 141-pound limit. And according to Justino's nutritionist, weight-cutting guru George Lockhart, that extra weight was permitted by the Brazilian athletic commission (CABMMA) charged with overseeing the proceedings in Brasilia, Brazil. "That was up to the commission, I believe, so I think you get a variable in there," Lockhart said. "And a lot of people don't know this, a lot of times when you step on the scale, a lot of the digital scales, especially in the U.S., it only goes by .5. So if you're, let's say, 171.2, it rounds down to 171. If you're 171.3, then it rounds up. So a lot of people don't know that, but again, I'm going to get you down to the damn gram (that you need to be at), so you don't have to sit in a bath longer than need be, so you don't have to work out any longer than you need to."

UFC heavyweight Ruslan Magomedov flagged by USADA for potential anti-doping violation
Heavyweight prospect Ruslan Magomedov is the latest UFC fighter to fall under the sword of the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA). The UFC announced Monday that Magomedov has been informed of a "potential anti-doping violation" stemming from an out-of-competition drug test collected by USADA on Sept. 7. The UFC did not specify the nature of the banned substance found in Magomedov's sample. "The UFC organization was notified that the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) has informed Ruslan Magomedov of a potential Anti-Doping Policy violation stemming from an out-of-competition sample collection made on September 7, 2016. USADA, the independent administrator of the UFC Anti-Doping Policy, will handle the results management and appropriate adjudication of this case. It is important to note that, under the UFC Anti-Doping Policy, there is a full and fair review process that is afforded to all athletes before any sanctions are imposed. Additional information will be provided at the appropriate time as the process moves forward."

Coach: No excuses -- but 'Cyborg' weighed 170 pounds during Lina Lansberg fight
Coach and former UFC fighter Akira Corassani with the revelation: "Everybody has a plan before they get hit" Acceptance: With zero excuses and pure admiration for @linalansberg the obvious conclusion is... Cyborg is just a better fighter, too strong, too heavy possesses power that can put any woman or man to sleep. To accept that as a team is very hard trying to figure out what we could've done differently. We turned every stone in this weird and crazy camp doing over 100 interviews along with one month before the fight traveling to Brazil for a two day promo shoot. We did what we had to do but we fought the last boss with no "insert coin" option! The home country crowd wanted Lina dead covering Tag team's song "Whoomp there it is" as she was walking in smiling! To make a long story longer... Lina had a chat with Cyborg where she mentioned that she walked into the cage at 170 lbs (77 kg). Now that means TWO weight classes up along with that additional skill level. What can be harder than doing all of this in your UFC debut!? I know she will be back and show what she is about but what she did taking this fight believing in herself is admirable! Fighters should ask themselves if they would do it? Forget about the average joe getting anxiety and jitters from singing at a half-empty karaoke bar! I am Linas biggest fan and I will make sure she bounces back! I wanna thank the REAL fans for their support and all the friends and family supporting her through this. She will be back! So she went from 165 to 141 to 170 in the span of five days. Sounds healthy!

Tito Ortiz refuses to fight 'weak' Chael Sonnen in November: I'm calling the shots, not him
"The American Gangster" promised to wreck anyone and everyone willing to compete this November. That includes former UFC light heavyweight champion Tito Ortiz. Unfortunately for Sonnen, "The Huntington Beach Bad Boy" did not share his grand vision. From Submission Radio: "Chael calling me out on November 2nd? I'm the one who calls the shots, not him! We'll fight in January. We're not going to fight in November. I'm gonna give him some time to get used to being at his weight, off of steroids, so he can train through that time. November 17th is not happening. I'm calling the shots, not Chael Sonnen. Yeah he talks well, yeah he does his thing, but no, this is my weight class. I'm the one who calls the shots. Tito Ortiz is gonna call the shots."

Roy Nelson's kick of John McCarthy at UFC Fight Night 95 could land him in Brazilian sports court
The Brazilian commission overseeing this past Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 95 apparently won’t let Roy Nelson’s post-fight actions slide. After Nelson vented his frustration with a stoppage win over Antonio Silva by kicking and then flipping off referee “Big” John McCarthy, the Comissao Atletica Brasileira de MMA, or CABMMA, announced the incident will be addressed by a Brazilian court. CABMMA spokesperson Cristiano Sampaio claimed today that Nelson’s case will be taken up by the Superior Justice Court of Sport, which handles judicial questions pertaining to sports in Brazil. “Even though CABMMA understands Roy Nelson’s ‘frustration’ in that situation due to his close relationship with his opponent, that does not justify his act and can open a serious and dangerous precedent in the sport,” Sampaio wrote in an email to MMAjunkie. “We, as the regulation body of MMA in Brazil and member of the Association of Boxing Commissions, will not tolerate such conduct. “All the licensed professionals involved have to act accordingly, respecting the rules, commission, promoter and fans, where unsportsmanlike behavior will be subject to fines and suspensions.”
