Karo Parisyan: “Who the hell is John Fitch?”
(fightline.com) Karo “The Heat” Parisyan was the guest on the most recent edition of PWB's Official Podcast Hotline with Lex and Ian http://www.pwbpodcastlive.com. In a candid interview, Parisyan addressed several topics:
On rumors that he “ducked” a fight with Jon Fitch:
“That is bullcrap, that is like, absurd, I have never been offered to fight Jon Fitch in my life.
The Spider Goes to Hollywood
(cpcmovies.co.uk) Anderson Silva was never supposed to be a champion. Instead, he was supposed to come into Ultimate Fight Night on June 28, 2006 and go down as a big win for fast-rising middleweight star Chris Leben, who seemed to be on his way to a title shot against then-champion Rich Franklin. But Silva took his opportunity on a big stage seriously and came in and knocked out the Ultimate Fighter (TUF) veteran. Had that fight between Leben and Franklin actually taken place, there is a very real possibility that Leben would have been flattened by the champ like his TUF compatriot Nate Quarry was at UFC 56. But Silva earned the title shot, trained his backside off, and went into UFC 64 and stunned the champion with a first round knockout. And the rest is history. Well, it’s more like current events.
Henderson down for it
(bostonherald.com) Dan Henderson’s last fight was against Quinton Jackson, the former Pride fighter who has taken the UFC by storm since joining the organization, establishing himself as arguably the best fighter in mixed martial arts.
Henderson lost that UFC 75 light heavyweight championship bout in September, dropping a unanimous decision after battling Jackson for five grueling rounds.
Though he’ll be dropping from the 205-pound division to the 185-pound middleweight division, the road won’t get any easier for Henderson. Anderson Silva, his opponent in Saturday’s middleweight championship fight at UFC 82 in Columbus, Ohio, is largely regarded as the top pound-for-pound fighter in MMA.
Henderson wouldn’t have it any other way.
“The challenge is what keeps me going,” Henderson said in a conference call Thursday. “It’s what keeps me motivated and training. It’s definitely something I get up for.”
Sakara looks to make it in new division
(ufc.com) The last time we saw Alessio Sakara in the Octagon was on January 19th, when he scored an impressive victory over James Lee by TKO in the first round. Prior to the bout, Sakara said it would be his last at 205 pounds. Now only 41 days later and 20 pounds lighter, "Legionarius" returns to action, taking on UFC veteran Chris Leben in what will be his first fight at 185 pounds.
Diego Sanchez -The Gift & The Curse
(ufc.com) Talk to the “Nightmare”, Diego Sanchez, and you’ve entered a dialogue with raw unfettered determination wrapped inside a New Mexican mixed martial artist. It seeps into every statement that Diego makes, small or large, and keeps you alert, for you don’t know how optimistic you will rise with him.

Silva confirms bout with Jardine
(mmaweekly.com) There has been a lot speculation and hint dropping lately that a fight was brewing between former Pride fighter Wanderlei Silva and Ultimate Fighting Championship contender Keith Jardine. That fight is about to become a reality.
“I’m leaving right now to sign the Jardine fight contract and you are the first ones to know officially,” said Silva on his website on Friday. “I am starting to train hard again to be able to get the victory.”

HDNet to Broadcast MFC Tonight, Strikeforce Tomorrow
(mmajunkie.com) HDNet, the all-high-definition cable station geared toward MMA, will broadcast two major MMA events this weekend: “Maximum Fighting Championship 15: Rags to Riches” tonight and “Strikeforce at the Dome” tomorrow.
Both events will be broadcast live.
The MFC show features a main event between Pete Spratt (17-10), a UFC veteran and “The Ultimate Fighter 4” cast member, and prospect Ryan Ford (4-0). The event takes place at River Cree Resort and Casino in Edmonton.
HDNet will air the event live from 9-12 p.m. ET.
Saturday’s Strikeforce event features a main event between NFL lineman-turned fighter/kickboxer Bob Sapp (9-2-1) and undefeated boxer Jan “The Giant” Nortje (1-5). Other bouts include Maurice Smith vs. Rick Roufus, Joe Riggs vs. Cory Devela, and Jorge Masvidal vs. Ryan Healy.
Should be a couple of good nights for fights, props to HDNet for getting more and more live MMA on TV for us. I'm hoping for a few quick stoppages on the MFC card as a guy that trains at my gym is fighting and it would be great if he gets some air time! Keep an eye out for Gavin Neil ,a really good MT guy (fighting Josh Groves) and give him a cheer if it makes it to air.

Jason Day’s Big Gamble Pays off (Story from Yahoo! Sports)
(mmajunkie.com) The story sounds like a Canadian version of the Beverly Hillbillies. Jason Day had purchased a 1992 Volkswagen Jetta, which he endearingly called a piece of crap, packed enough clothes for a four-day trip and headed off with Lee Mein in search of riches in Las Vegas.
Day and Mein weren’t hoping to get rich at a blackjack table or to get hot on the craps table.
They were hunting for a job and had driven 19 hours nonstop with no guarantees of getting lucky.
Cub Swanson Reflects on Jens Pulver, Prepares for Fight Outside WEC
(mmajunkie.com) In the aftermath of a disappointing 35-second submission loss to Jens “Little Evil” Pulver (22-8-1) at December’s WEC 31 event, lightweight Cub Swanson (11-2-0) still finds it difficult to cope with the results of that night.
Swanson reflected on the fight, and looked to the future, while a guest on Wednesday’s edition of TAGG Radio (www.taggradio.com), a partner site of MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com).
Luigi Fioravanti: From Iraq to the Octagon
(ufc.com) For most fighters, entering the UFC Octagon to face a fierce opponent is the hardest thing they’ll have to do in their lives. Within a few seconds they face their adversary’s full arsenal: punches, kicks, elbows, throws, arm bars, knee locks, triangle chokes, guillotine chokes, and so on. It sounds pretty bad, and tough to most, unless you’re welterweight Luigi Fioravanti. You see, when instead of punches and kicks and elbows, you have bullets and bombs coming at you, the sport of mixed martial arts becomes a very tranquil walk in the park.
Cro Cop: I'll Be Back In UFC
(mmajunkie.com) That's the plan according to now-former UFC fighter Mirko Cro Cop. He's on record as saying he will fight 3 fights for the new DREAM promotion then return to UFC.

War Machine Gets Probation
(mmamania.com) TUF 6 contestant Jon "War Machine" Koppenhaver has been sentenced to 3 years' probation and a $2300 fine stemming from misdemeanor assault charges. The charge was reduced from a felony, which not only spared Koppenhaver potentially serious jail time, it also saved his UFC career-the felony would've voided his 10-fight contract.
Varner Responds To "Mouthpiece-gate"
(mmamania.com) WEC Lightweight Champion Jamie Varner has posted a response to his illegal calling of a timeout in his fight against then-Champion Rob McCullough at WEC 32 to recover his lost mouthpiece, which is being referred to by some as "mouthpiece-gate".
France Legalizes MMA
(mmaweekly.com) France has become quite a hot bed for mixed martial arts talent over the years, but not one that immediately springs to mind on the world stage. Why? Because MMA as a sport in France has been banned for many years; mainly for political reasons and to protect the sanctity of traditional martial arts, but the times they are a changing.
Good interview with Mark Cuban
(mma-core.com) Can you imagine Mark Cuban owning the Chicago Cubs?
Or developing a mixed-martial arts company to rival the UFC?
In a crazy week for the owner of the Dallas Mavericks - the Jason Kidd deal finally became a reality on Tuesday - Cuban spent a few minutes with Sun Media via an e-mail interview.
With HDNet - Cuban's satellite TV channel - broadcasting MFC 15: Rags to Riches tomorrow night from the River Cree Resort and Casino, the interview ranges from MMA to baseball.
Q: Why did you decide to partner with the Maximum Fighting Championship to broadcast fights?
A: "They put together a quality card. Great fighters, combined (with) great presentation are ingredients for success."
PS A guy from the gym I train at is fighting in the MFC on Friday, he's on the undercard I believe, but if his fight makes it to air on HDNet give Gavin Neil a cheer.
Tim Boetsch – From Part-Time to Prime Time
(ufc.com) Tim Boetsch has heard the snide remarks before, the snickers when he tells people that he’s a strong proponent (and practitioner) of Bruce Lee’s Jeet Kune Do style. They’re remarks borne in ignorance, of not being able to separate Lee’s teachings on actual fighting with his on-screen persona as one of the first true action heroes.
Canadian Fighter Dies After Training
(sherdog.com) A young Canadian mixed martial artist died after a light sparring session Tuesday evening in Stratford, Prince Edward Island.
Rene Ayangma, 20, a member of Team Bueno based out of the Largo Fitness Centre, was preparing for his second MMA fight, scheduled for Extreme Cage Combat in Halifax on March 15.
