Mir echoes kanagaroo meat sentiment in light of failed 'B' sample drug test
Last month, it was revealed that Frank Mir tested positive for oral turiabol metabolites - an anabolic steroid - for his in-competition drug test relating to UFC Fight Night: Mir vs. Hunt.
Mir, who lost via first round KO to 'Super Samoan', hinted that tainted kangaroo meat in Australia was perhaps responsible for his failed drug test, and the two-time heavyweight champion is using the same argument to defend his 'B' sample, which also flagged for performance-enhancing drugs.
Mir cited NFL lineman Duane Brown on his Phone Booth Fighting podcast (per MMA Fighting), whose positive drug test for clenbuterol stemmed from tainted beef he ate in Mexico.
UFC 201 Update: Bahadurzada-‘Hannibal,’ Brown-Arzamendia Booked for July 30

Afghan knockout artist Siyar Bahadurzada will square off against Brazilian Claudio “Hannibal” Silva in a welterweight matchup, while Australian lightweight Damien Brown will make his sophomore Octagon appearance against Paraguay’s Cesar Arzamendia.

UFC lightweight Carlos Diego Ferreira is the latest fighter to find themselves in hot water with the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA). The UFC announced Friday that Ferreira was flagged for a "potential Anti-Doping Policy violation" in a recent out-of-competition drug test with USADA.
As a result, Ferreira has been removed from his preliminary card fight against Abel Trujillo on May 29 at UFC Fight Night 88. The UFC is currently looked for a replacement opponent to fight Trujillo.
'TUF 24' gets other flyweight champs with coaches Benavidez, Cejudo; winner fights champ Johnson
A month ago, the UFC scrapped a planned set of tryouts for Season 24 of “The Ultimate Fighter” that would have featured flyweights. But rest assured, the 125-pound division isn’t going anywhere.
“TUF 24” still will feature flyweights – and the winner will face champion Demetrious Johnson (24-2-1 MMA, 12-1-1 UFC) at the conclusion of the season. But instead of doing tryouts to find 125-pounders for the show, the UFC will hand-pick flyweight champions from other promotions around the world, the promotion today announced on FOX Sports 1’s “UFC Tonight.”

Alves-Barberena moves to UFC 198 main card, Trinaldo-Medeiros to FS1 prelims
A couple bouts are moving up the lineup at Saturday’s UFC 198 event in Brazil.
With Anderson Silva (33-7 MMA, 16-3 UFC) forced off the card and then undergoing successful gallbladder surgery, his opponent, middleweight Uriah Hall (12-6 MMA, 5-4 UFC, was today pulled from the card.
Now, two fights are getting a bigger spotlight, according to UFC.com’s Thomas Gerbasi.

The UFC attempted to find a replacement fight for Hall once it was determined Silva was too ill to compete and required gall bladder surgery. However, the two sides could not come to a mutually-agreed upon arrangement.
Marlon Moraes and Josh Hill rematch in WSOF 32 main event
Josh Hill managed to win one round the first time he and Marlon Moraes battled in the WSOF cage. Given Moraes’ dominance of the bantamweight division, that’s enough to earn Hill another crack at the champ.
A WSOF press release today announced the bout.
Moraes (16-4-1) and Hill (14-1) will meet in the new main event of WSOF 32. The event takes place July 30 at Xfinity Arena in Everett, Wash., north of Seattle. The main card will air on NBCSN following prelims on MMAjunkie.
Dennis Siver injured, out of UFC 199 fight opposite B.J. Penn
UFC featherweight veteran Dennis Siver has been forced to withdraw from his scheduled bout against B.J. Penn at UFC 199 after suffering an undisclosed injury. MMA Fighting confirmed the news Tuesday following an initial report by BJPenn.com.

Anderson Silva out of UFC 198, may require gall bladder surgery
Former UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva was forced Tuesday to pull out of his homecoming fight in Curitiba, Brazil, with Uriah Hall because of abdominal pain that may require gall bladder surgery, UFC president Dana White confirmed to Yahoo Sports.
Jeff Davidson, the UFC's medical consultant, told Yahoo Sports that Silva, 41, will be examined in Brazil for potential gall bladder surgery.
"Anderson developed abdominal discomfort [Monday and] further evaluation today is consistent with acute cholecystitis," Davidson said Tuesday. "He will be seen by a surgeon today for possible surgery."
Cholecystitis is inflammation of the gall bladder and is a primary reason patients have their gall bladders removed.
Silva's removal from the show puts a major dent into the UFC 198 card, which will be held in his hometown. White said he is trying to find an opponent for Hall to keep him on the card.
UFC owners reportedly in heavy discussions to sell promotion
One of the biggest stories in the history of mixed martial arts seems to be taking shape.
The Fertitta brothers are in heavy discussions about selling the UFC and four bidders have emerged, according to a report from ESPN business insider Darren Rovell. The winning bid, Rovell reported, is supposed to be somewhere between $3.5 and $4 billion.
Four companies have put in bids for the UFC, including WME/IMG, China Media Capital, The Blackstone Group and Dalian Wanda Group, according to the report.
The Dalian Wanda Group out of China is the front-runner and a sale could be announced as soon as July, sources told MMA Fighting's Ariel Helwani. Nothing is finalized, though, and the situation is very fluid.
"As a private company, we don't discuss speculation or rumors related to our business," UFC vice president of public relations Dave Sholler told ESPN.
