Dana White ready to bring the excitement of big fights back to Boston
UFC President Dana White is ready to return home to Boston -- complete with his MMA empire and rabid fan base. The state of Massachusetts recently approved a bill to afford regulation for the sport of mixed martial arts and the Zuffa brass wasted no time in lining up an August 28 date at the TD BankNorth Garden for their Beantown debut. White also promised the show to end all shows. If that's the case, what can we expect for the August mega-event? Fan Expo? Five title fights? The return of Brock Lesnar? Let the speculation begin...

WEC 45 ratings,Down 21%
This past weekend's broadcast of "WEC 45: Cerrone vs. Ratcliff" on Versus drew a 0.4 household rating and averaged 330,000 viewers, Versus officials today confirmed with MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com).
The event took place Dec. 19 at The Pearl at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas.
The show featured a non-title headliner and few of the organization's top stars. Additionally, the event went head-to-head with "Strikeforce: Evolution" on Showtime. Therefore, it's not surprising that ratings were down 21 percent compared to the two most recent WEC-Versus broadcasts.
What does Evans Vs Silva mean for the lhw division
When Rashad Evans meets Thiago Silva next week in the UFC 108 headliner, he knows both contenders are fighting for the same thing.
They both a want a shot to avenge an earlier loss while striking gold in the light-heavyweight division, which is currently ruled by champion Lyoto Machida.
"It's like a race for who gets back to Machida," Evans said.
Machida knocked out Silva in January and then stopped then-champ Evans in his next bout to claim the 205-pound title. Since then, the undefeated Brazilian has defended his belt against Mauricio "Shogun" Rua and now ranks among the world's top pound-for-pound best.
So what can we expect from Evans vs. Silva?
Baroni plans time off, return unknown
33-year-old welterweight Phil Baroni is in Hawaii and planning to take time off from competition to rest and evaluate a new approach to MMA.
Despite several reports, Baroni said he has not agreed to fight Marcus Davis at UFC 111 on March 27 in Newark, N.J.
The Long Island, N.Y. native said he wanted to move from his adopted home of Las Vegas to experience different training camps, most notably, a possible permanent move to San Jose, Calif. for a permanent residence with American Kickboxing Academy. In the past, Baroni has trained often with the camp for hard sparring.
Dear idiots: King Mo is doing you a (expletive) favor
Recent Strikeforce acquisition Muhammed Lawal is baffled by the hoopla surrounding his post-fight energy drink mishap that hosed down the floor of the cage following his Dec. 19 TKO win over Mike Whitehad at Strikeforce: "Evolution." The California State Athletic Commission (CSAC) was not amused by his stunt and fined "King Mo" for his attempts at "having fun." Anyone out there in MMA land offended by his colorful entrances and outspoken persona?

"This might be the first UFC I buy and actually watch in about 10 years, you know?" Frye said. "These two guys, it's going to be one hell of a barnburner. They’re going to show these new guys how to fight."
"You don't come (to fighting) to quote movies or thank your sponsors," Frye said."You don't come to have your fingernails or your toenails painted. Goddamn, you come to fight, not to be a fairy. Fight, that's what these two old boys are going to do."
Slugfest Alert: Baroni vs. Davis Reported for UFC 111
What do you do when you have two guys who can't win big fights but who always put on entertaining matches? Throw 'em in a cage together and hope for a Fight of the Night, obviously. According to MMA Mania, Phil Baroni and Marcus Davis have verbally agreed to whip the New Jersey crowd into a frenzy at UFC 111 (March 27th, Newark), supporting a card that will feature Georges St. Pierre vs. Dan Hardy and (hopefully) Frank Mir vs. Shane Carwin.

The Coming Asian MMA "Revolution"
The more any culture or nationality opens up to MMA, the better it will be for the sport. While Japan has not only been open, but also a pioneer in MMA, many other Asian countries have yet to embrace in the sport. There is limited participants from China, Korea's home market has slightly stagnated and while Thailand is faithful to their form of boxing, they aren't about to make Bangkok an Asian MMA capital any time soon.
However, if some of the powers that be in broadcasting have their way, that could all be changing:
Former Champion Evans Starts Comebck Trail Against Silva
Like training partner Georges St-Pierre before him, Rashad Evans has learned firsthand the difference between winning a title and keeping it.
It's a painful lesson. But one that St-Pierre has used to make himself a better mixed martial arts fighter.
Some seven months after losing the UFC light-heavyweight championship to Lyoto Machida in his first title defence at UFC 98, Evans returns to the cage at UFC 108 looking to prove that, having picked himself off the floor, he is a better man for it.
