Donavon Frelow replaces Timur Valiev against Bekbulat Magomedov in WSOF bantamweight title fight
World Series of Fighting has to shuffle one of three title fights on its next card.
Timur Valiev is injured and out of his fight against Bekbulat Magomedov for the vacant WSOF bantamweight title at WSOF 35 on March 18 in Verona, N.Y., the promotion announced Tuesday. Former top flyweight contender Donavon Frelow will replace Valiev.
The WSOF bantamweight title was recently vacated by Marlon Moraes, who is a free agent and is expected to sign with the UFC.
David Branch vs. Krzysztof Jotko targeted for UFC 211
David Branch’s return to the UFC is inching closer.
According to multiple sources, Branch is slated to face Krzysztof Jotko at UFC 211 on May 13 in Dallas.
Branch (20-3), the former World Series of Fighting light heavyweight and middleweight champion, returns to the UFC on a ten-fight winning streak. He recently parted ways with WSOF after an an undisclosed issue with the promotion, which occurred before and after his New Year’s Eve win over Louis Taylor. The New York-native left the UFC in 2011 after going 2-2 inside the Octagon. Since then, he’s won 12 of 13 fights, with his lone loss coming against Anthony Johnson in 2012.
Eddie Alvarez vs. Dustin Poirier verbally agreed for UFC 211
An already strong UFC 211 card in Dallas is close to adding another barnburner of a fight.
Former UFC and Bellator lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez and Dustin Poirier have verbally agreed to meet on the May 13 card. MMAFighting.com confirmed an initial report Tuesday by ESPN.
Ex-UFC fighters Milana Dudieva, Kelly Faszholz sign with Invicta FC
A pair of UFC veterans are heading to Invicta FC.
Kelly Faszholz and Milana Dudieva have both signed deals with Invicta, the promotion announced Monday. Both were recently removed from the UFC roster.
Faszholz (3-2) had a Fight of the Night performance in her UFC debut, a loss to Lauren Murphy, in February 2016, but was not brought back after falling to Ketlen Vieira by split decision in October. The 31-year-old California native is still a promising talent in the women’s bantamweight division.

Demetrious Johnson vs. Wilson Reis, ‘Jacare' Souza vs. Robert Whittaker set for UFC on FOX 24
The UFC has added a pair of big fights for the upcoming card on FOX.
Scheduled for April 15 in Kansas City, UFC on FOX 24 will be headlined by flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson against Wilson Reis. Top middleweight contender Ronaldo Souza will also compete at the event, taking on Robert Whittaker.
The UFC announced the news Saturday night following a report by MMA Junkie. UFC on FOX 24 is set to take place at the Sprint Center in Kansas City.
Bubba Jenkins signs with ACB; debuts vs. Ali Bagov next weekend
The signings keep on coming for ACB! Today they have announced the acquisition of All-American wrestler Bubba Jenkins.
He will fight Ali “Hulk” Bagov next weekend at ACB 54 in Manchester. The fight will likely be contested at lightweight, as Bagov was originally slated to face Alexandre Pimentel at lightweight on the same event.
Myles Jury returns from layoff, meets Mike De La Torre at UFC 210 in Buffalo
The lineup for the UFC’s return to upstate New York next month continues to take shape with the addition of a featherweight fight.
According to a report from the Los Angeles Daily News, Myles Jury (15-2 MMA, 6-2 UFC) is set to take on Mike De La Torre (14-6 MMA, 2-3 UFC) at UFC 210. The booking has not yet been announced by the promotion.
UFC 210 takes place April 8 at KeyBank Center in Buffalo, N.Y. The main card airs on pay-per-view following prelims on FS1 and UFC Fight Pass, though the bout order hasn’t been finalized.
Julia Budd Wins Inaugural Title, Marloes Coenen Retires
Bellator MMA crowned their inaugural women’s featherweight champion in the Bellator 174 main event in Thackerville, Oklahoma on Friday. Women’s fighting veteran Marloes Coenen took on Julia Budd in the title fight, and Budd walked away with the belt.
Coenen, a former Strikeforce bantamweight champion, was the smaller of the two athletes. Each round Budd took Coenen down early and maintained top control for the duration of the frame. In the opening round, Coenen threatened with a triangle-choke attempt, but couldn’t finish the submission.
Khabib Nurmagomedov vs. Tony Ferguson canceled day before UFC 209
LAS VEGAS — Disaster struck UFC 209 on Friday, as the highly-anticipated interim lightweight championship fight between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson was officially scratched from Saturday’s pay-per-view card.
Nurmagomedov (24-0) was transported to the hospital in the early hours Friday morning after falling ill while cutting weight. The undefeated Dagestani was treated and discharged, according to UFC officials, and the fight was called off due to “doctor’s recommendation.”
Barberena and Proctor To Scrap In Nashville
Lightweight action fighters Bryan Barberena and Joe Proctor will kick off their 2017 schedule on Apr. 22 when they meet in a UFC Fight Night matchup at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville.
In the five-round main event, which airs live on FS1, featherweight rivals will settle the score as surging contender Cub Swanson takes on hard-hitting European standout Artem Lobov. Tickets go on sale today.
