Manny Pacquiao retires after beating Timothy Bradley by unanimous decision
LAS VEGAS – If this was the finale of Manny Pacquiao's legendary career, he went out on top, if not in style.
The Filipino superstar has had better days in the ring during a career that saw him win world titles in eight weight classes and virtually guarantee himself a spot in the International Boxing Hall of Fame.
It's fair to say, though, that the action was lacking at many points during his fight with Tim Bradley at the MGM Grand Garden before 14,665 largely Pacquiao partisans.
Buoyed by two knockdowns in what could be his final fight, Pacquiao won a unanimous decision over Bradley in a fight that was dull for long stretches.
All three judges had it 116-110 for Pacquiao.
Rafael dos Anjos Will be Ready to Fight in July, Hints Eddie Alvarez Could Be Next Foe
It was a milestone week for Rafael dos Anjos in his recovery process from the broken foot that forced him to pull out of a lightweight title defense against Conor McGregor at UFC UFC 196.
“[It was] my first week without the boot. My doctor cleared me to walk barefoot,” dos Anjos told “Inside MMA” on Friday night. “I started working a little bit, hit some bags, doing some techniques.”
With that progress comes a target date for the lightweight champion’s Octagon return.
“I will be ready by July. I want to fight in July. I’m here. Whatever UFC decides, I’ll be ready,” dos Anjos said. “In three more weeks I’ll be ready to jump, to kick. In July, I’m ready.”
If all goes as planned, that progression could lead to a spot on the UFC 200 card, an event that already features a pair of title fights as well as a welterweight headliner between Nate Diaz and McGregor. Dos Anjos was angling to fight either Diaz or welterweight champion Robbie Lawler on July 9 in Las Vegas, but he was denied by the promotion on both counts.
After Teixeira Injury, Patricio Freire Says He’s Fighting Henry Corrales at Bellator 153
It apparently didn’t take long for Bellator MMA to find a replacement opponent for Patricio Freire.
The former featherweight champion revealed on Twitter Saturday that Henry Corrales will step in for the injured John Teixeira da Conceicao and face Freire at Bellator 153. Promotion officials were not immediately available to confirm the change.
“Thank you [Henry Corrales] for stepping up,” Freire wrote. “Much respect. Everyone was saying no but you. I know you’ll come to war, and I welcome the challenge.”
After beginning his professional career with 12 consecutive wins, Corrales has faced a tough draw in Bellator MMA, dropping back-to-back fights to Daniel Straus and Emmanuel Sanchez in his first two promotional appearances.

In the co-main event, San Jose’s own Josh Thomson (22-8, 1 NC) will meet longtime Bellator MMA lightweight standout “Iron” Michael Chandler (14-3), who’s fresh off a new long-term contract extension with the Scott Coker-led promotion.

Tyson Fury vs. Wladimir Klitschko rematch set for July 9, same day as UFC 200
Tyson Fury's first defense of his WBO and WBA heavyweight titles will be against the man he took it from in November 2015. In news confirmed by Peter Fury, Tyson's uncle and trainer, Tyson will rematch Wladimir Klitschko on July 9th in Manchester, England.
More details are due to be announced on Saturday, including the venue.
Fury (25-0, 18 KOs) defeated Klitschko (64-4, 53 KOs) by unanimous decision (116-111, 115-112, 115-112) at the ESPRIT Arena in Dusseldorf to end Wladimir's reign as the world's #1 heavyweight. It was Klitschko's first loss since a stunning TKO defeat to Lamon Brewster back in 2004. The fight itself was ... bad. They combined to land 138 punches (per CompuBox) over the course of 36 minutes. That averages out to less than 4 punches landed per minute, and Wladimir only was credited with 52 out of 231 thrown. After the scorecard was read, Fury serenaded his traveling fans with a stirring rendition of Aerosmith's "Don't Wanna Miss A Thing.
Dan Hardy eyeing superfights, not a title run, in potential UFC return
UFC veteran Dan Hardy hasn’t fought since September 2012 – a result of a heart condition known as Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome. He hasn’t taken his eye off a comeback, however, and wants to be in big one-off fights to close out his career.
Speaking with MMAjunkie Radio, Hardy (25-10 MMA, 6-4 UFC) said he has grown as a person while working as a commentator for the UFC, but he views the changing face of the UFC as one where he can re-enter the octagon without concerns of becoming champion.
Instead, he said, the new move toward superfights could provide him with opportunities not to work his way up the rankings, but instead participate in marquee matchups.
Christine Stanley, Rachael Ostovich added to Invicta FC 17 card

After fighting with broken toe, Damon Jackson has no regrets despite UFC release
Damon Jackson knew full well what was on the line when he stepped into the cage on Jan. 30. He gambled, and he lost. And he’d do it all over again.
“There’s a million guys that want your spot, so you pull out of a fight, and it doesn’t look good to the rest of the people,” Jackson told MMAjunkie. “I don’t want that to be the reason I get cut. I would rather go out there and have a chance to prove myself and do it that way than to make a bad impression and get cut like that.”
The 27-year-old Jackson (9-1-1 MMA, 0-1-1 UFC) came to the UFC in 2014 as an undefeated featherweight prospect on the strength of a submission win over Leonard Garcia. With less than two years of professional experience to his name, Jackson now admits it was probably too soon, but he had the same dreams of nearly every fighter who heads to the gym and straps on a pair of four-ounce gloves.

While the nature of Teixeira’s (19-1-2 MMA, 3-0 BMMA) injury wasn’t specified, Bellator is actively seeking a replacement opponent for Freire (24-3 MMA, 12-3 BMMA).
