Dana White: UFC champ Joanna Jedrzejczyk vs. Claudia Gadelha II up next
A rematch between UFC strawweight champ Joanna Jedrzejczyk and Claudia Gadelha is in the works, UFC President Dana White confirmed following Thursday’s UFC Fight Night 80 event.
White did not mention a timetable for the bout, which was in the works for this past month’s UFC 193 pay-per-view event before a hand injury scratched Gadelha (13-1 MMA, 2-1 UFC), but he said the Brazilian-born Gadelha is “ready to go.”
Now, the only thing holding her up may be Jedrzejczyk’s (11-0 MMA, 5-0 UFC) hand, which was surgically repaired after she defeated Valerie Letourneau at the Nov. 15 event.
Dana White to Holly Holm: On July 9th, Ronda Rousey is your next opponent
The UFC has targeted a bantamweight title rematch between Holly Holm and Ronda Rousey on July 9 in Las Vegas, despite a report that Holm wishes to fight sooner.
UFC president Dana White told Los Angeles Times on Wednesday that "it's Rousey" next for Holm. The Times printed a story earlier this week, quoting Holm's manager, Lenny Fresquez, stating Holm has interest in fighting Miesha Tate instead.
White insisted Rousey would be ready.
We're real concerned with [Fresquez's] opinion," White said, sarcastically.
Jose Aldo Shoots Down Rumors That He Will Retire Following UFC 194
Before he broke rib and had to withdraw from UFC 189, Jose Aldo teased that he would make a big announcement following his scheduled bout with Conor McGregor.
"After that fight, you will know what's gonna happen. The UFC knows, I know, and everything is already set," Aldo told Sherdog.com in March. "As soon as I beat Conor McGregor, you will know what's gonna be my next step."
ONE Championship Vice President Rich Franklin issues statement on Chi Lewis-Parry situation
Before he stepped foot into the cage to face Brandon Vera for the inaugural ONE Championship heavyweight title, Chi Lewis-Parry made headlines – for all the wrong reasons.
After failing to submit his medical records and drug test results before the Dec. 11 clash, the undefeated Lewis-Parry was removed from his fight against Vera. None too pleased, Vera ripped Lewis-Parry in a video to his Facebook page (NSFW language).
In the wake of this, ONE Championship Vice President and former UFC middleweight champion Rich Franklin issued a statement via ONE's Facebook fan page, summarizing the situation and detailing exactly what happened and why.
Next week's Titan FC 36 event canceled, CEO's 'health issues' cited
Next week’s Titan FC 36 event, which was slated to stream on UFC Fight Pass, has been canceled.
Officials made the announcement on Wednesday, citing CEO Jeff Aronson’s “health complications related to an unexpected surgical procedure.”
The event was slated for Dec. 18 at Kansas City Scottish Rite Temple in Kansas City, Mo. Current Titan FC flyweight champion Tim Elliott (12-6-1) was scheduled to fight fellow ex-UFC fighter Pedro Nobre (17-1-2) in the headliner of the card, which was expected to feature more than a dozen bouts.

England’s Saul Rogers defeated Poland’s Marcin Wrzosek by rear-naked choke in the first semi-final bout to seemingly advance to the finals.
Europe’s Artem Lobov completed his second-chance journey to the finals in the second semi-final round bout against American Julian Erosa.
Holly Holm's team pushing to make first title defense to Miesha Tate, not Ronda Rousey
It doesn't sound like Ronda Rousey could be ready to fight anytime soon.
Rousey told ESPN this week that she could be months away from "eating an apple," so a rematch with women's bantamweight champion Holly Holm at UFC 200 in July may be wishful thinking.
Holm's manager Lenny Fresquez met with UFC officials Monday and has already been given a proposal to book Holm for the July 9 event in the new Las Vegas Arena.
Photos: Jon Jones looks massive next to Arlovski, talks 'much better life' at heavyweight
Former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones may not be staying much longer in the division after his planned return against Daniel Cormier next year. The pound-for-pound great has been continuing his powerlifting, and took to social media about his preparation.
Today, he did a 500 lbs squat, which is a personal record for him. He also teased a move to heavyweight as he posted a clip about eating a large amount of food, good for several people.
"Earned the light heavyweight title back then moved to heavyweight?" Jones wrote on Instagram. "The thought of lifting heavier and eating more is tarting to sound like a much better life to me."
White House releases official response to Nick Diaz petition
The White House has spoken. Even if there isn't much to say.
An online White House petition regarding Nick Diaz's five-year suspension by the Nevada Athletic Commission garnered more than 100,000 signatures this fall, earning a response. That response came in Tuesday and, as expected, didn't offer any kind of resolution.
"The federal government plays no role in the disciplinary actions taken by state athletic commissions, so we are not in a position to address the specific request raised in your petition," the statement read.
The good news for Diaz fans is that the NAC and his legal team are currently in settlement talks and that five-year suspension could be reduced significantly.
Diaz, a popular UFC fighter, was suspended for five years and fined $165,000 following a third marijuana offense in Nevada after his UFC 183 bout with Anderson Silva in January.
Tyson Fury: World heavyweight champion stripped of IBF title
World heavyweight champion Tyson Fury has been stripped of his IBF title less than two weeks after winning it.
The Briton, 27, had to agree to fight the IBF's mandatory challenger Vyacheslav Glazkov but will instead face Wladimir Klitschko in a rematch.
Fury beat Ukrainian Klitschko on points on 28 November to claim three versions of the heavyweight crown.
Lindsey Tucker, championships chairman at the IBF, told BBC Sport: "It's true he's been stripped of his IBF belt."
Jose Aldo’s wife: Dana White pressured Aldo to fight injured at UFC 189
Jose Aldo will finally face Conor McGregor in the main event at UFC 194, but his family says they haven’t forgotten what happened back in June.
The undisputed UFC featherweight fractured his rib weeks before UFC 189, when Aldo and "The Notorious" were first slated to meet, and eventually pulled out of the bout. Aldo’s camp and UFC president Dana White still disagree about his injury, with White saying doctors guaranteed his rib wasn’t broken, just bruised.
UFC is returning to Pittsburgh in February
Huge news was just announced as the UFC will once again return to the Consol Energy Center in Pittsburgh for UFC Fight Night. It’s been over four years since the UFC was last in the Steel City; 1,701 days to be exact. As of now the only bout currently scheduled for the card is a middleweight contest between rising stars Derek Brunson and Roan Carneiro.
Training partner believes Jose Aldo will retire after UFC 194
Two-time K-1 Max champion Andy Souwer flew from Netherlands to Rio de Janeiro to help Jose Aldo prepare for another UFC title defense, and the Dutch striker believe it was his last trip to Brazil to train with the featherweight for a MMA fight.
Aldo enters his 8th UFC title defense on Dec. 12 facing interim champion Conor McGregor in the main event of UFC 194 in Las Vegas, and Souwer believes the Brazilian star will be entering the Octagon for the last time when he faces "The Notorious".
"To be honest, yeah I think. Yeah, I think so," Souwer told MMA Plus.
Souwer believes that a complicated relationship between Aldo and the UFC brass might contribute to his decision to retire, especially after the featherweight champion pulled out from a UFC 189 clash with McGregor due to a rib injury.
Ronda Rousey won’t switch camps after loss: I’m staying with Edmond Tarverdyan
Many fighters and coaches have voiced their opinions on what Ronda Rousey should do following the first loss of her mixed martial arts career, and she finally announced her decision.
Almost a month after her stunning knockout loss to Holly Holm in Australia, Rousey will continue to train with her longtime coach Edmond Tarverdyan when she decides to return to the Octagon, despite all the hate between her mother and Tarverdyan.
"Of course I'm staying (with Tarverdyan)," Rousey told ESPN. "That's my mom's opinion, not mine."
