Demetrious Johnson wants Pride rules back, like soccer kicks and 10-minute rounds
UFC flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson has gradually become more and more outspoken the longer his title reign has lasted. Now that the top P4P fighter has held his belt for almost four years, you're usually going to get a pretty frank answer when you ask Mighty Mouse a question. And at a Q&A ahead of a recent UFC event in Salt Lake City, Johnson was very blunt about the ABC's proposed change to a rule about knees to a grounded opponent in the Unified Rules of MMA.
The current rule makes kneeing an opponent to the head illegal if they have one hand on the mat. The proposed alteration would change that to two hands on the mat, which means only one hand would make it a legal knee. Regardless of the change, Johnson isn't a fan of fighters that use the tactic to avoid getting hit in the first place. And he wants more PRIDE-like rules, with stomps and head kicks on the ground (transcribed by MMA Junkie):
Tim Kennedy vs. Rashad Evans in the works for NYC’s UFC 205
A middleweight bout between Tim Kennedy and Rashad Evans is in the works for UFC 205, the organization’s long-awaited debut in New York City later this year. FloCombat.com reported the news on Monday. UFC officials have not confirmed the matchup at this time.
Kennedy (18-5), who revealed he had a fight booked earlier this week, hasn’t competed in mixed martial arts since a controversial third-round TKO loss to top contender Yoel Romero at UFC 178 in September 2014. The devastating loss snapped a four-fight winning streak, which included a dominant win over current champ Michael Bisping.
Evans (19-5-1) will be dropping down to the middleweight division for the first time for this fight. He is currently riding a two-fight losing skid. Evans, a former UFC light heavyweight champion, returned from a lengthy layoff last year against Ryan Bader, and dropped a decision. In his last outing, he was knocked out by Glover Teixeira in the UFC on FOX 19 main event. His last victory was a stoppage over Chael Sonnen in late 2013.
Jon Jones breaks silence, says he's 'expecting to be back in the Octagon really soon'
The Jon Jones saga is not even close to being over. As the greatest talent to ever enter the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Octagon, it's going to be very tough to keep the former Light Heavyweight champion away from a comeback.
But as Jones gets dragged through the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) process after testing positive for banned substances prior to his UFC 200 title rematch with Daniel Cormier, which Jones got yanked from, what's going to be left of the 29-year-old superstar? And for that matter, when can fight fans expect Jones back?
Leave it up to the pound-for-pound legend to finally break his silence following UFC 200's debacle, reach out to his fans and give an update about his current state of play, recently posting this video to Instagram

It appears Lewis (16-4 MMA, 7-2 UFC) will fight fellow heavyweight Marcin Tybura (14-2 MMA, 1-1 UFC) when the UFC returns to the Philippines in October. Lewis posted the matchup on his Instagram feed, and a Lewis representative told MMAjunkie verbal agreements for the bout are in place. The UFC has not yet made a formal announcement of the booking.

Dana White: ‘Wonderboy’ Next for Tyron Woodley; McGregor Will Defend 145-Pound Title
UFC President Dana White has some specific thoughts on the futures of featherweight king Conor McGregor and welterweight champion Tyron Woodley, and it might not be exactly what either man had planned.
“I fully expect Conor to come back and defend his 145-pound title,” White told UFC.com. “I think that Nate [Diaz] feels his brother [Nick Diaz] should have the fight at 170, but Nick is not going to come back and fight for the title right away.
“There are other guys deserving of a title shot. Stephen ‘Wonderboy’ Thompson is going to fight for the 170-pound title and then we’ll see what happens with Nick and Nate.”

Ben Saunders, booked for regional fight vs. Jacob Volkmann, explains UFC exit
After a three-fight winning streak in his return to the UFC, Ben Saunders was stopped by Patrick Cote in January.
Losing to a former title challenger to have a streak snapped is not something that normally would send a fighter packing from the UFC. But quietly, Saunders found himself no longer on the promotion’s roster.
Next month, Saunders will get back to work for the first time since his loss to Cote, but it won’t be in the UFC. Instead, Saunders (19-7-2) will fight in Minnesota for Fight Night at the Island against fellow UFC vet Jacob Volkmann (19-6). The event takes place at Treasure Island Resort & Casino in Welch, Minn.
