Tonya Evinger, Angela Hill to defend titles at Invicta FC 20
The next Invicta card is getting a pair of title fights.
Tonya Evinger will defend her Invicta women's bantamweight belt against Yana Kunitskaya and Angela Hill puts her strawweight gold on the line against Kaline Medeiros at Invicta FC 20 on Nov. 18 in Kansas City, promotion officials told MMA Fighting on Thursday.
Dominick Cruz possibly defending belt, co-headlining UFC 207: Nunes vs Rousey
Dana White announced a bunch of news Wednesday night at the Fox Sports studios. When pressed about revealing more plans about their other champions such as Dominick Cruz, the UFC president hinted that something big is in store for him.
“I don’t think if I have ever met anybody in my life that has worse luck than this kid. In his entire career, it was just one thing after another, injury,” White said about Cruz at UFC Tonight. “He (was supposed to be) getting a big fight, coming off Ultimate Fighter. He was supposed to be the co-main event on Anderson Silva vs Chael Sonnen 2, which he gets a piece of the PPV.”
“And (now) some really really good news is coming Dominick Cruz’s way,” he said. “So knock on wood and hope this kid stays healthy because some really good news is coming his way.”
UFC 207 with Ronda Rousey’s return is the last big card they have planned for the year. And with White mentioning a similar deal as co-headlining Silva vs Chael 2, DC asked if Cruz will be part of that.
White smiled and joked about not wanting to reveal too much, eventually saying “It’s possible. It’s possible.”
UFC PR man Dave Sholler departing for NBA’s Philadelphia 76ers
One of the most well-known executives in the UFC is departing the promotion.
UFC senior vice president of public relations and athlete marketing and development Dave Sholler is leaving for a job with the NBA's Philadelphia 76ers, he confirmed Wednesday night. UFC president Dana White broke the news on FS1's TUF Talk show.
Sholler, a New Jersey native, is a lifelong fan of the 76ers. His last event will be UFC 205 on Nov. 12 in New York.
"As Dana just announced on FS1, I'm heading home. I've accepted a job w/ my hometown team, the Sixers. This has been the ride of a lifetime."
"It's time to go home, to the organization I grew up rooting for. Will miss fight game very, very much, but excited for the new challenge."
Scott Coker targeting Chael Sonnen vs. Wanderlei Silva for next summer
With Chael Sonnen's return to MMA, Bellator MMA is looking to to put together a long awaited fight next summer.
Maybe the fourth time is the charm.
"We've have a contract with Wanderlei Silva even before Rizin ever got him on board. With the contract we have with him, he won't be able to fight for us until he is cleared with NSAC. I think in May he will be cleared to compete for Bellator.
"Since Bellator contracted Chael Sonnen, believe me, we've been getting texts and calls from Wanderlei saying that he wants that fight. So, I think you'll see that fight some time in 2017 for Bellator...It's very difficult to pinpoint exactly when we can put it on, it's kind of a moving target in a way, but I think some time in the summer for sure."
"Wanderlei is still pissed about what happened between them and he wants that fight. It's something personal for him. Honestly, I don't really know what happened to make him that compelled to fight Chael, but I can tell you that he is not happy with what happened between them.
"With Chael, he's down to fight anybody on any given day. It's going to be something that we'll try and map out when we sit down with both guys at the beginning of next year."
"That's going to be a fight where everybody stops whatever they're doing to turn on the TV to see the fight. As we all know, that fight has been building for a number of years and they couldn't work it out, but now I feel the timing is perfect."
Dana White open to signing ex-NFL player Greg Hardy to UFC, but only after he gets experience
UFC president Dana White isn't willing to close the door on controversial ex-NFL star Greg Hardy one day fighting in the UFC, however he also isn't looking to sign the former Pro Bowl defensive end until Hardy proves he that can actually compete among the world's best.
"I'm one of those guys too who believes that we're all human beings and we all make mistakes," White said Wednesday on FS1's Speak for Yourself. "And when you make a mistake, you pay your penance, whatever it might be, and you should be allowed to make a living and move on in your life. Is he good enough to come into the UFC and fight? I highly doubt it.
"I've been playing football for a couple weeks too, maybe I'll try out for the (New England) Patriots?" White continued, laughing. "It takes a little bit longer than that, but he could fight at one of these small shows. We'll see how he looks, and I don't know."
"I'm not saying he should be welcomed here, but I'm saying I'm a guy who believes that if you make a mistake, your life isn't over, go kill yourself or something," White said. "You made a mistake, you pay for it. When you make mistakes, it's all about how you act from there on out. How do you handle yourself after that and what do you do to fix it."

Dana White: If Rousey beats Nunes, 'the Cyborg fight will definitely happen'
Ronda Rousey will be fighting Amanda Nunes for Nunes' UFC women's bantamweight title, but what about Rousey vs. Cyborg? Here's Dana White answer to that oft-asked question.
"I know that Cyborg wants that fight," White said. "Ronda wants that fight, too. Ronda's plan right now is to come back and try to win her title back, and if that happens, the Cyborg fight will definitely happen."
Conor McGregor doesn't want to fight in Nevada anymore after 'terrible' fine, says Dana White
The Nevada State Athletic Commission’s decision to fine UFC champ Conor McGregor an amount of $150,000 and hand him 50 hours of community service could be costly for the state in the long run.
According to UFC President Dana White, the fine and other punishment related to McGregor’s (20-3 MMA, 8-1 UFC) involvement in the UFC 202 pre-fight news conference bottle-throwing incident with his camp and that of opponent Nate Diaz (19-11 MMA, 14-9 UFC) has caused the Irish superstar to lose his desire to compete in Nevada.
“I wasn’t thrilled about it when it happened, and we did the best we could to contain it at the time, but come on,” White said. “The other problem with that is Conor McGregor hit me yesterday and said, ‘I don’t ever want to fight in Nevada again. Ever.’
“Now how does that make sense for the state of Nevada? That you’re going to try to fine this kid and Nate that much money, it just makes people not want to come fight in out state and that’s not a good thing.”
“Guess what? Conor McGregor doesn’t need Nevada,” White said. “He can fight anywhere. He can fight in Iowa. We can put his fight on an island off the coast of anywhere. This makes no sense for the state. It’s just terrible.”
Jose Aldo to meet with UFC brass in Las Vegas to discuss contract, retirement

"I’m waiting. That’s the situation now," Aldo said. "We have a meeting scheduled to solve everything, but everything has been said already. We will see what happens in this meeting. I can talk more when I return."
Al Iaquinta says he’s retired from MMA
If you’re a fan out there waiting for Al Iaquinta’s next UFC bout, you may want to reconsider your options. “Raging” Al recently made it known that he wasn’t too happy with his current UFC contract situation, coming off a long injury layoff. He had been scheduled to fight Thiago Alves at the upcoming UFC 205 PPV card in New York City. However, he withdrew from the bout back in September, despite being apparently healthy and able to compete, citing an ongoing contract dispute with he UFC.
It seems that dispute has resulted in Iaquinta walking away from MMA competition entirely.
“I thought my career was over. I got my personal training, I got my real estate license and I'm living comfortably. I don't need to fight now,”
