Titan FC pushes back start time from 10PM Eastern to 11:30PM for Ricci vs. Gurgel event
Titan FC has released an official statement to Bloody Elbow that they will be moving back the start time by one-and-a-half hours for their upcoming event, Titan FC 27: Ricci vs. Gurgel. The card is set to feature a bevy of former UFC and Strikeforce fighters, beyond it's main event, including Matt Riddle, Michael Kuiper, Kurt Holobaugh, and Pedro Nobre. Titan FC executive Bryan Levick explained that the move was due to what they felt were counter programming efforts by competing MMA organizations. The card is now set to broadcast on February 28th at 11:30 PM on CBS Sports.
Police Surround Thiago Silva's Home in Possible Standoff, suspect in custody
South Florida's NBC affiliate is reporting a disturbance by a man at a Miami-area Jiu Jutsu school. The man then traveled back to his home, and locked himself in his home, which has been surrounded by police and approached by a SWAT unit. The story appears on NBCMiami.com The armed suspect went to the school at 777 E. Oakland Park Blvd. and threatened the people there, but no one was injured, said the BSO, which was called about the situation at about 7:45 p.m. He then went to his home at 2041 Coral Heights Blvd. and locked himself inside it, according to the BSO. A local property search reveals that this property belongs to UFC veteran Thiago Silva. No additional details of the story, such as the presence of weapons or other people in the house, have been confirmed. Essss too bright!
Jordan Mein vs. Santiago Ponzinibbio slated for UFC on FOX 11
Two UFC welterweights seeking redemption have been added to April’s UFC on FOX 11 fight card. UFC President Dana White confirmed that Canadian Jordan Mein (27-9 MMA, 1-1 UFC) will meet “The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil 2? veteran Santiago Ponzinibbio(18-2 MMA, 0-1 UFC) at the April 19 event, which is set to take place at Amway Center in Orlando, Fla.

UFC's 185 champ Chris Weidman says 205 may be in his future
It should be noted that Chris Weidman isn’t getting ahead of himself. But the UFC’s middleweight champion would consider a move up to light heavyweight down the road. First, though, Weidman has a few more title defenses at 185 pounds in front of him. Weidman recently told USA TODAY Sports that if he can clean out the middleweight division, he might not have a choice but to move up to light heavyweight to see what he can get done 20 pounds heavier. “Whatever the fans really want to see, and whatever is the toughest challenge for me (is what I want to do),” Weidman said. “Right now, the 185-pound division is exciting. There’s a lot of guys and a lot of matchups that people want to see me against. So those are the fights I’m going to fight. But if it comes to the point where ’85 looks a little stale, I have no problem going to 205.
Thiago Alves returns at UFC on FOX 11, meets Seth Baczynski in Orlando
For the first time in more than two years, Thiago Alves will return to the octagon. Alves (19-9 MMA, 11-6 UFC) has been booked for a welterweight fight against Seth Baczynski (19-10 MMA, 5-3 MMA) at UFC on FOX 11. UFC officials announced the new booking on Thursday. UFC on FOX 11 is set for April 19 at Amway Center in Orlando. It will be the UFC’s first visit to the city. The main card will air on FOX following prelims on FOX Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass.

Ben Askren was hoping his first fight for ONE FC would be for a title. It will be. Askren (12-0) will make his promotional debut in May, and he’ll be fighting for the ONE FC welterweight title. The former Bellator MMA champion made the announcement Thursday on MMAjunkie Radio. Askren will fight the winner of next month’s title fight between former UFC fighter Brock Larson and Nobutatsu Suzuki. That fight takes place at “ONE FC 14: War of Nations” on March 14 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
