GSP: Get Rid of Rounds in MMA
There’s a lot of things I would change in the sport. First of all, the time, there’s no time, no round. Seriously, I believe it is stupid, the round. If you want to see who’s the best man, let them fight, you know? Fifteen minutes or maybe 25 minutes for the championship. No rounds. Why the round? Why are we trying to be like boxing? We’re not boxers — they did rounds to be like boxing to be accepted as a sport. Yeah, of course, 100 percent (there would be more finishes). No rounds. I think it’s ridiculous. 100 percent I would rather fight with a rule like this, I think it’s more honest, like, who’s the better man? Let them fight.
Vinny Magalhaes says they'll need two referees for his UFC 159 bout with Phil Davis
Vinny Magalhaes and Phil Davis have traded taunts over the Internet for months. They're finally about to get into the Octagon and settle their differences, as the light heavyweight contenders will square off at UFC 159 at Newark's Prudential Center on Saturday.
But on Monday's edition of The MMA Hour, Magalhaes had one final message for his rival: Bring an ice pack.
"I hope they could have two referees in the cage, because if I get a chance, I'm going to pop his arm," Magalhaes said. "I did that against Igor [Pokrajac], I tapped him out and I kept holding. And I think its not going to be any different for Phil. If I get him into something I'm going to hurt him. I'm not saying break it, just make him feel it for a week. When I fought Igor, three hours later he was still putting ice on his elbow. I think it's not going to be any different with Phil."

UFC's T.J. Dillashaw wants short rest, open to fight with 'name' Brad Pickett
Following a weekend win at UFC on FOX 7, T.J. Dillashaw is looking at the bantamweight division's rankings and hoping to fight one of the names listed above him.
Dillashaw (8-1 MMA, 4-1 UFC) picked up an impressive first-round TKO win over Hugo Viana (7-1 MMA, 2-1 UFC) at this past Saturday's event. It marked his fourth consecutive win, and in the latest USA TODAY Sports/MMAjunkie.com MMA bantamweight rankings, he moved from No. 14 to No. 13.
Dillashaw believes Viana was an underrated opponent.
"He doesn't have a huge name behind him, but he's a very tough fighter, and people are going to start to realize that," Dillashaw told MMAjunkie.com Radio (www.mmajunkie.com/radio).
He hopes that's not the case with his next opponent. Dillashaw believes he deserves a Top 10 opponent, and preferably it'll come against someone with an already-established name.
He mentioned No. 6-ranked Brad Pickett and fast-rising prospect Erik Perez as possibilities. Pickett, especially, would give Dillashaw a big name on his resume, which he knows is crucial when it comes to earning title shots.

Few details were confirmed, though tryouts are expected to take place in the next few months.
Recent UFC fighter Pat Schilling, 24, announces MMA retirement
Recent UFC competitor "Thrilling" Pat Schilling today announced his MMA retirement at the rather youthful age of 24.
Schilling (5-2 MMA, 0-2 UFC) today made the announcement via social media.
Schilling said his ultimate goal in the sport was to get the UFC. He accomplished the feat just two years after his January 2010 pro debut, though he ultimately suffered a submission defeat to Daniel Pineda (in a late-notice fight) and a decision loss to Max Holloway upon his arrival in the world's biggest fight promotion.
Miesha Tate vs. Liz Carmouche for UFC on FOX 8? Depends on doctor's clearance
A high-stakes women's bantamweight bout is in the making for UFC on FOX 8 on July 27 -- provided one of the potential participants gets a doctor's note first.
Miesha Tate and Liz Carmouche are in talks to meet at Seattle's Key Arena. But the bout will be on the condition Tate, who is under a medical suspension, is cleared to compete by a doctor. MMAFighting.com's Ariel Helwani reported the news on Tuesday's edition of Fuel TV's UFC tonight...
UFC champ Georges St-Pierre: Lightweight move likely easier than middleweight
For years, UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre has teased the idea of moving up to 185 pounds. While he's not ruling out such a change, he believes a cut to lightweight would be much easier.
"I don't do much cutting," St-Pierre said on Tuesday's new edition of "The Joe Rogan Experience." "It would be easier for me to go fight at 155 than fighting at 185. I would be more at my weight naturally at 155.
"There's guys at 155 that walk around at 190 like me. They think I'm big because I have a large frame, but I'm not a big guy. I'm not thick."
