Strikeforce exec says "Mayhem" Miller acted on his own, should have expected fallout
Much of the conversation in the mixed martial arts community following the incident has focused on assigning blame for the dust-up. While Coker was forced to speak about the incident before he had a chance to see it with his own eyes – the exec had already begun his transit to the evening's post-fight press conference when the trouble began – he believes Miller should have been able to foresee the consequences of his cage entrance. "I didn't see it," Coker said. "I don't know how [Miller] got in there. But when you have the cornermen that Jake has, and something like that happens, you know there's going to be an issue. I don't know why he couldn't have thought that out because I could have told you that prior to them (brawling) that we should have kept them apart.
Post-Event Thoughts - Strikeforce: Nashville - 'Mayhem' Miller Criminally Assaulted by Members of Cesar Gracie Camp
First of all allow me to rant. I'm embarrassed for the sport of mixed martial arts. I don't fault Strikeforce for the brawl and honestly I think it's unfair to fault Miller. Miller went in to the cage and did some "thunder stealing" yes. But when the repercussion for that became gang assualt I am not sure. Did we see Matt Hughes' boys jump Georges St. Pierre for stating that he was "not impressed by his performance?"
Roger Huerta Returns To Bellator On May 6
Bellator announced today that former UFC fighter Roger Huerta makes his next appearance on May 6 at Bellator 17. His opponent in the season 2 Lightweight tournament semifinals will be revealed at a Tuesday press conference but it likely will be one of these three: Carey Vanier, Toby Imada or Pat Curran.

Joe Lauzon Expects To Fight At UFC 118
If he has his way, Boston-area UFC star Joe Lauzon will next fight at UFC 118, likely to be August 28 in Boston. Opponent TBA but J-Lau says he could get the winner of Jeremy Stephens-Sam Stout set for UFC 113, which could setup a rematch from 108 when Stout beat Lauzon.
Kendall Grove To Return At UFC 116
Although UFC has yet to confirm the event or any fighters on it, Kendall Grove said today that his next fight will be at UFC 116 on July 3. He says opponent and position on card are both TBA.
Mousasi Signs 2 Year Extension With Strikeforce
After hinting at it for about a month, Strikeforce Light Heavyweight Champion Gegard Mousasi has signed a 2-year extension with the promotion. The deal is for up to 4 fights in SF, down from an expected 7 before Mousasi split from M-1 Global in February. Mousasi will return to Japan after tomorrow's fight to participate in DREAM and wants to fight 6-8 times this year between DREAM & SF then only 3 times next year.
Nobody Cares About "Britney" Silva
Ouch...let the trash talk begin courtesy of Chael Sonnen. On Anderson Silva, possibly his next opponent, "I compare Anderson to Britney Spears. She shaved her head to get headlines. Britney Silva went up to 205, retired, etc. Nobody cares... When my music hits and the doors close, the fight's on. I'm not going to dance, juke or jive. I will find him... You know what you're getting with Silva. A guy who pretends he doesn't speak English, is a fantastic athlete, and acts like a fool. If you like that, go buy his t-shirt with the other two guys who like him."
UFC Cuts 3 More
More pink slips were handed out by UFC yesterday-in addition to confirming the expected release of Mustapha Al-Turk, Matt Veach & Rafaello Oliveira were also released. Veach & Al-Turk both had suffered the "Losing Streak Of Doom", with Al-Turk going 0-3 in UFC, while Oliveira was 1-2 after a loss to Andre Winner last month.
Matt Veach released from UFC
Matt Veach entered the UFC with an impressive unblemished record of 11-0, and he will be making his exit with a slightly tarnished record of 11-2. FiveOuncesofPain.com has recently learned of the release of Veach by the UFC through sources close to the situation.
Health permitting, Boston's UFC 118 could include Edgar vs. Penn II, Florian vs. Maynard
A headliner and rematch between new UFC lightweight champion Frankie Edgar and ex-champ B.J. Penn, as well as a co-headliner between top lightweight contender Kenny Florian and Gray Maynard, are both under heavy consideration. However, the health status of a few fighters could affect the plans
WEC Announces Canadian Debut; Varner Headlines
The WEC will hold its first Canadian event on June 20 at Rexall Place in Edmonton, Alberta, the promotion announced Thursday. Former lightweight champion Jamie Varner will headline the card against Kamal Shalorus. Josh Grispi will also be in action against L.C. Davis. 2 WEC 48 Prelims To Air On Spike
With the WEC's first pay-per-view a little more than one week away, the promotion is pulling out all the stops to guarantee a successful showing. Today, UFC president Dana White announced that the WEC would follow suit with its sister company and air a pair of preliminary bouts on Spike TV. The featured bouts likely will be Leonard Garcia vs. Chan Sung Jung and Alex Karalexis vs. Anthony Pettis.
A Little "White" Lie Is An Unfortunate Part Of "Reality"-Get Over It
In other words, don't expect apologies from Dana White regarding his misdirection in the cast changes reported for this season of TUF. "When we have a reality show where everything's a secret, you're gonna have to watch it. Guess what? You can't know and it's not you're privilege to know. And if people are upset with that too bad. It's a reality show. First of all, SPIKE paid for this show. For me to go out and release this information, it's insane you can't do it. It would be like finding out what happens on 'Survivor' after they film it. The people who feel like they've been lied to, too bad. Get over it. It's a reality show."
UFC Cuts Emerson, Blackburn & Camoes
Jason High now has company in the unemployment line, as UFC handed out 3 more pink slips late last night. The promotion has cut Rob Emerson, Brad Blackburn & Fabricio Camoes. Emerson went 1-3 after a 2-0 start following a bizarre no contest at the TUF 5 Finale, Blackburn started 3-0 but recently has suffered the "Losing Streak Of Doom", while Camoes went to a Draw then lost his last fight.
Bader will be sidelined for the next 6 weeks and is fighting Thiago Silva?
"Ultimate Fighter" season 8 winner Ryan Bader will be sidelined for the next 6 weeks with no contact after undergoing surgery on his right hand to repair a torn tendon. The news comes courtesy of Bader's manager, David Martin, who spoke with MMAWeekly.com on Wednesday after rumors surfaced about a fight for the Arizona based competitor. "He had a torn tendon in his right hand, on the middle finger," said Martin. "He has six weeks of no contact with the hand, and then after that he'll be ready when Joe Silva calls." Thiago Silva is being matched with Ryan Bader at UFC 116, the American Top Team light-heavyweight has announced to fans via his Facebook page. Silva left a message via his status update in the afternoon saying “Ryan Bader, come get some! UFC 116!”
Joe Rogan says he and Mike Goldberg slated for "Aldo vs. Faber" broadcast
While "WEC 48: Aldo vs. Faber" represents World Extreme Cagefighting's first effort on pay-per-view, the broadcast will apparently have a very familiar feel. Longtime UFC broadcaster Joe Rogan announced today on his Twitter account that he and on-air partner Mike Goldberg will be handling broadcast duties for the April 24 event.
Exclusive: K.J. Noons likely for June Strikeforce debut

Dana Announces Chael vs Anderson
"He's got a real tough fight coming up. His next fight's going to be against Chael Sonnen, and Chael Sonnen's one of these guys who's not going to lay back, not do what these other guys (did)," White told Rome. "When he's been in this position when these types of fights have happened, it's been against real good jiu-jitsu guys, guys that want to get the fight to the ground. Well, Chael Sonnen's going to want to take this fight to the ground, but he's going to double leg him and bring him down," said White. "Personally, I really believe that he was embarrassed by what happened that night, maybe he did have a mental breakdown, I don't know what happened in the ring. All I can say is I know his next opponent isn't going to be a guy who's going to lay back and let him do stuff like that." "If he ever acts like that again in the ring, I will cut him," said the UFC president. "I don't care if he's the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world. I don't care if he is the middleweight champion. I will cut him, absolutely."
Sweet Chael Sonnen interview
Did you perceive the goading, motioning, shouting by Silva to be showmanship or disrespect? Or perhaps a little bit of both? Look, I'm not a gang banger. I don't talk about “respect.” That term is for street thugs, not me.
