Pedro Rizzo vs Gilbert Yvel for June 27
(mmamania.com) Former Affliction hired help Pedro Rizzo (16-8) and Gilbert Yvel (35-13-1) have been scheduled to face off on the main card of Prize Fight Promotions “Unarmed Combat” scheduled for the Gulf Coast Coliseum in Biloxi, Miss., on June 27 according to MMAWeekly.
The 34-year-old Rizzo, a four-time Brazilian Muay Thai champion, may be feeling a sense of urgency. “The Rock” still garners respect from his ability to hit like a wrecking ball, but he’s not been able to demonstrate the kind of striking that made him famous earlier in his career.
Feijao-Hamman Added to Strikeforce
(sherdog.com) Touted Brazilian Rafael “Feijao” Cavalcante will face fellow Pro Elite veteran Jared Hamman in a featured light heavyweight bout for Strikeforce “Lawler vs. Shields” on June 6 at the Scottrade Center in St. Louis.
Matt Brown vs. Anthony Johnson official for TUF 9 finale in June
(mmajunkie.com) A potentially exciting welterweight slugfest between Matt Brown (9-7 MMA, 3-1 UFC) and Anthony Johnson (7-2 MMA, 4-2 UFC) is now official for The Ultimate Fighter 9 Finale.
First rumored in late March, the bout was made official during Wednesday's broadcast of "The Ultimate Fighter" in a segment entitled "Inside the Octagon brought to you by Burger King: Late Night News Your Way."
The TUF 9 finale is scheduled for June 20 at The Pearl at the Palms Casino Resort.
Kevin Randleman will fight anybody, anywhere, as long as it isn’t ‘Feijao’ Cavalcante
(mmamania.com) “Now that I’m here, understand this – it comes from the heart. I’ll fight anybody, anywhere. When Scott (Coker) says it’s time to get down and dirty, understand this: I’m not coming to lose, and I’m not coming to back up.”
Though according to Ariel Helwani over at MMA Fanhouse, “back up” is exactly what he did when Strikeforce officials presented him with the chance to fill in for a paternal Renato Sobral at the upcoming “Lawler vs. Shields” event at Missouri’s Scottrade Center.
UFC VP of Operations Talks Credentials
(mmapayout.com) MMA’s latest controversy has more or less pushed the UFC credential issue to the back burner, but I thought it worth while to post this interview conducted a few weeks ago by insidefighting.com with UFC VP of Operations Donna Marcolini.
A summary of the main points is below:
Dana White Interview
(insidefighting.com)
An excellent interview with Dana White by InsideFighting.com.
Early Wednesday morning InsideFighting Editor Elias Cepeda spoke with UFC President Dana White. On the heels of UFC 97, White spoke about Anderson Silva, Chuck Liddell retiring, why he decided to bring back his video blogs and much more.
This is well worth a read imo.
TUF's Noah Thomas Headed To Bellator
(mmaweekly.com) Like many other promotions, ESPN is heading to Chicago to host one of the initial offerings of its Bellator FC series to air on its affiliate Spanish-speaking station, ESPN Deportes.
One of the fighters Bellator hopes will help make its excursion to Chicago on May 15 a success is former “Ultimate Fighter 5” cast member Noah “The Red” Thomas.
Melendez Not Waiting Around, Asks For Ishida
(mmaweekly.com) When Gilbert Melendez knocked out Rodrigo Damm in Strikeforce a couple of weeks back, not only did he reassert his claim to be the No. 1 contender in the promotion's lightweight division, but he took a huge step forward in showing the same kind of dominance that had him ranked among the top three 155-pounders in the world just a short time ago.
MMA Quick Quote: Gina Carano would ‘probably’ choose the UFC over Strikeforce
(mmamania.com) Frankly, I am absolutely unmotivated by money. And I know that maybe people take that and don’t understand what that means, but I am just not. What I am interested in is people that have respect. Not only respect for me, but people who have respect for women in MMA … I have sat down with Dana and (Zuffa co-owner) Lorenzo (Fertitta) and they have expressed interest and want to do something, but I am a little weary because I know that Strikeforce is signing women and the “Cyborg” fight is over there … I think that I would probably pick Zuffa (over Strikeforce) because that’s the big show, you know? To be a part of that would be amazing, but you know, here comes Strikeforce and they’ve got this CBS and Showtime deal and they are working their way up into being good competition … They’ve built their company on some good roots and now they are ready to branch out on Showtime and CBS. But as of right now, the UFC is the big show, and for a female, it would be an amazing opportunity.
UFC Possibly To Australia In 2010
(mmajunkie.com) According to sources in Sydney, UFC has contacted Acer Arena (formerly Sydney SuperDome) officials about hosting the first-ever UFC event in Australia in February 2010. Dana White previously mentioned a possible Australia event last year, citing strong ratings for UFC broadcasts there. Acer Arena could likely hold over 21,000 for a UFC event.
Possible Fedor vs Aoki grappling match in the works
(cagepotato.com) It's a rumor at this point but I would be very interested in this:
"Fedor Emelianenko and Shinya Aoki will square off against each other in a special grappling match at the “Deep M-1 Challenge 3rd Edition” in Japan on April 29th."

Next UK UFC Will Be In Manchester Or Liverpool
(fightersonlymagazine.co.uk)
The UFC will be returning to the north of England for its next UK show and will be heading to either Liverpool or Manchester.
"I am looking at venue agreeements right now, and can confirm we are heading back up north. Our next UK show will be in either Liverpool, which has a great new venue in the Echo Arena, or we will be returning to Manchester and the MEN Arena where UFC 70 was such a huge success," UFC UK president Marshall Zelaznik told Fighters Only.
Wilson Reis vs. Joe Soto set for the second round of Bellator’s featherweight Grand Prix
(fiveouncesofpain.com) The second round of the Bellator Fighting Championships’ featherweight Grand Prix is set to kick off on Friday, May 8 in Texas. One of the featured bouts will pit former EliteXC bantamweight champion Wilson Reis vs. former All-American wrestler Joe Soto.
Following UFC 97 win (and thanks to wife), Soszynski securely in UFC
(mmajunkie.com) This past weekend's UFC 97 victory over former WEC light-heavyweight champion Brian Stann proved to Krzysztof Soszynski something his wife already knew: He belongs in the UFC.
After getting a late start to his MMA career at age 25, and after some mixed results after a step up in competition midway through his career, Soszynski's confidence was shaken.
But with some encouragement from his wife and back-to-back award-winning victories in the UFC, Soszynski now know he belongs with the 205-pound division's best.
Matt Hamill has something new for Brandon Vera at UFC 102
(mmamania.com) “I have a lot of things to add. I add more moves every time I fight. Every time I fight, there will always be a new move, so at UFC 102 against Brandon Vera, I’ll have a new weapon that no one has seen. The old Matt Hamill is not the new one. I can do things that are not expected.”
Dana White ready for a war on Chuck Liddell retirement issue
(mmamania.com) “Chuck Liddell is stupid rich. Chuck Liddell is done. He’s got nothing left to prove. He’s the most famous guy on Earth. I love him like a ******* brother and I don’t want to see him get hurt. There is no reason for it. He’s ******* 40 years old man. These guys that are fighting now are young, explosive, fast ******* kids who are well rounded mixed martial artists. There’s no ******* reason for Chuck Liddell to be out there at 40 years old still fighting. I don’t want to make a ******* nickel off that ever.
Anderson Silva & Thales Leites Should Both Hang Their Heads In Shame
(mmamania.com) That, "quite honestly", is the opinion of Michael Bisping following UFC 97's main event. He clearly thinks the Canadian fans desreved better from the fight and says he's seen more agression from his fiance when "she hits the January sales".
Evans & Jackson Near Altercation At UFC Photo Shoot
(mmaweekly.com) Apparently Rashad Evans & Quinton Jackson can't wait to go at it, Ryoto (Lyoto) Machida be damned. According to Evans, he & Rampage nearly came to blows at a UFC photo shoot recently, with Evans even borrowing a Rampage-ism in saying he really wants to "whup his ass".
Bobby Lashley Not Going To UFC Anytime Soon
(411mania.com) Bobby Lashley's decision to go back to wrestling, even part-time, has halted his UFC aspirations for now. Dana White apparently doesn't want any association with pro wrestling at this time while he & UFC continue to build the brand, and Lashley would have such association now.
Rex Richards, Don Frye, Jesse Taylor at Shark Fights 4
(sharkfights.com) Shark Fight Promotions are staging a fight in Lubbock, TX on Saturday, May 2. TUF 10 tryout Rex Richards, whose only loss is to UFC HW contender, Shane Carwin, will be making his debut at 265 lbs. against a 13-0 Schoonover.
