Joanna Jedrzejczyk and Claudia Gadelha likely as 'TUF 23' coaches
UFC women’s strawweight champ Joanna Jedrzejczyk said she is “99 percent” likely to coach the 23rd edition of “The Ultimate Fighter” opposite rival Claudia Gadelha.
Speaking on Monday to Polish MMA outlet MMARocks.pl, Jedrzejczyk stopped short of confirming the news. But “TUF 20” vet Tecia Torres later backed the report, recently telling fans she heard the strawweight rivals will coach against each other on the reality show.
In an email to MMAjunkie, a UFC official declined comment on the show’s casting. If confirmed, the coaches would mark the first time women’s strawweights have coached on the long-running reality series, which just wrapped up its 22nd season featuring now-featherweight champion Conor McGregor and popular ex-champ Urijah Faber.
ROAD FC Eliminates “10 Point Must” Scoring System, Announces “Unlimited Points System”
This new judging criteria is merit-based and will provide a more accurate account of a fighter’s performance than the out-dated “10 point must” system. It will reward exciting and aggressive fighters while penalizing those who repeatedly stall or avoid action. The “Unlimited Points System” will deliver the kind of non-stop, thrilling action for which fans are now clamoring.
In this system, points will be awarded for specific action and activity. One point will be given for a clear strike, takedown, near submission, full mont or back mount position, clear control on the ground, and aggression. Five points will be awarded for a knock down.
Penalties will be assessed by the referee. A yellow card for fouls will incur a five point deduction. A blue card worth a two point deduction will be introduced for the purpose of eliminating stalling and avoidance, standing and on the ground.
All points will be accumulated through the entire fight, not round by round, therefore a performance throughout the entire bout will determine the clear winner. The “Unlimited Points System” will be in operation starting at he next event, ROAD FC 027 in China on 26 December.

Revolutionary new ONE Championship weigh in policy following death of fighter
The culture of extreme weight cutting in MMA is arguably the most dangerous aspect of a dangerous sport, and various steps are being take to address it.
Earlier this month, Chinese flyweight Yang Jian Bing died while making weight with ONE Championship. He was just 21. ONE has crafted a tremendous new weight cutting policy in response.
The step is extraordinary. Weigh-cutting via dehydration is now over in the organization. This is a first for professional combat sports, and deserves both praise, and copying.

Michigan fighter Dom O’Grady has passed away, according to multiple reports.
The 34-year-old fighter had a heart attack in his sleep over night on Monday night, according to friend and Michigan-based ring announcer Phil Davey.

Rest in Peace, Emanuel Yarbrough (1964-2015)
It's hard to think of a fighter who made the impression Emanuel Yarbrough did in just one UFC bout, a testament to the charisma and larger than life aura of "The Gentle Giant," who passed away on December 21 in Richmond, Virginia.
He was 51. Rest in Peace.

ROAD FC Middleweight Champion Riki Fukuda faces Cha Jung-Hwan at ROAD FC 028
Riki Fukuda cut a clear path to the ROAD FC Middleweight Championship in 2014 and 2015. The consummate UFC veteran dispatched all comers to end up on a 4-fight win streak of finishes. Earning the championship belt meant earning a 6-figure paycheck as well, and fans can bet that Riki isn’t willing to relinquish either anytime soon. His grinding aggression will surely be turned up a notch as he meets an unlikely – and tricky – first challenger in Cha Jung-Hwan.
Khabib plans to return in March, open to Dos Anjos title fight in Brazil
With the two-year layoff mark quickly approaching, Khabib Nurmagomedov is itching to return to the Octagon.
The talented UFC lightweight suffered his third consecutive injury several months ago and was forced out of a highly anticipated match-up against Tony Ferguson. However, unlike his previous two knee injures, this one was a broken rib.
Khabib, whose last fight was a unanimous decision victory against current UFC lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos, even contemplated retirement following his latest injury. Instead, he set a timetable for his return and is already maneuvering for a title shot following the champ's 66-second TKO against Donald Cerrone at UFC on FOX 17.
