Former UFC welterweight held at gunpoint following suspected hit-and-run in Albuquerque
(mmamania.com)
Somebody just got run over in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and believe it or not, the driver was not former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) light heavyweight champion Jon Jones. Instead, it appears to be ex-UFC welterweight Henry Martinez, who is accused of plowing through a bicyclist on I-25 and leaving the scene of an accident, in addition to driving on a revoked license, according to KRQE.com. But he didn't get very far. That's because a concerned citizen, who just so happened to be packing heat, was able to track down the inactive mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter and hold him at gunpoint until police arrived.

Andre Pederneiras: Jose Aldo willing to fight UFC in court
(mmafighting.com)
Jose Aldo doesn’t want to be in the UFC anymore, and his team is willing to go to court to fight out of his contract with the promotion. "I think Dana and the new owners have to understand that there’s a completely unsatisfied employee who doesn’t want to continue," Pederneiras said. "If that was in Brazil and a guy said ‘boss, I want to leave,’ I’d say ‘Ok, I can’t hold you.’ The contract we have in the UFC, ‘boss, I want to leave,’ the answer is ‘no, you’ll be stuck with me, you might not do anything, but you can’t leave here.’ Is that something nice? "I think it creates dissatisfaction, and he will want to go to court. He would have to go to court to cut this contract. And the damage a dissatisfied person, someone like Aldo, talking sh*t to everyone about a lot of things, I think the company wouldn’t want a guy like this every day in the media talking trash. Since the guy doesn’t want to do it, let him leave! ‘I just want to leave, I don’t want to stay here anymore, I don’t want to fight here. I don’t want to be in anymore.’ We don’t want a war, we don’t want a fight, we don’t want to talk bad about anyone. We only want the right to say ‘I don’t want to be here anymore. It’s not about money, I don’t want to be here anymore.’" According to the report, Aldo still has six fights left in his contract with the UFC. "Scarface", who beat Frankie Edgar for the interim belt at the historic UFC 200 event in Las Vegas, was unhappy with the way he was treated by the promotion after losing to McGregor in December. "He was already pissed off with the situation of being left aside without an answer," Pederneiras said. "You can’t do that with someone like Aldo. You can do that to someone who just entered the UFC now, but not with a guy that went undefeated for 10 years, not with a guy that was the first and only champion until he lost the belt in a 13-second situation, and earned his rematch, was fooled and it didn’t happen. I think the company has its financial side – I have a company and will always think on the financial side – but I won’t lie to my employee. If there’s no way to do it, there’s no way to do it. I won’t tell everybody something, put in the news for everyone to see, and then be caught in a lie."

Conor McGregor says UFC will have to ‘gather an army' to take one of his belts after UFC 205
(mmafighting.com)
UFC president Dana White has vowed that Conor McGregor will abandon one of his two UFC titles if McGregor achieves his dream of becoming a two-weight world champion by defeating lightweight beltholder Eddie Alvarez on Nov. 12 at UFC 205. McGregor, however, appears to have other plans. "They're going to have to gather an army to try and take one of them (belts) off me, and that's out straight," McGregor said Tuesday at the raucous UFC 205 kickoff press conference in Madison Square Garden. "One's going to be there, one's going to be there, and I'm going to be picking and choosing who I want to destroy next. And that's it." "I'm going to wrap one (belt) on one shoulder, and I'm going to wrap the other on the other shoulder, and they're going to need a f*cking army to come take them belts off me," McGregor said.

UFC champ Conor McGregor says he'll make $40 million in 2016

UFC champion Conor McGregor is never hesitant to discuss money. However, he put a price tag on his financial gains from a busy 2016 fight campaign. When asked how UFC 205 specifically will improve the numbers in his bank account, McGregor didn’t answer directly. Instead, he skipped ahead to answer what his year-end total will apparently look like. “I feel by the time 2016 closes out, I’ll be closing in on $40 million,” McGregor said at the UFC 205 news conference. “This is a $40 million year for me. Dana White: Roy Nelson ‘needs to be buried’ for kicking Big John McCarthy
(mmafighting.com)
Roy Nelson was upset at referee Big John McCarthy for not stopping his heavyweight bout with Antonio Silva when the Brazilian was knocked down, and kicked the referee moments after the fight was finally stopped Saturday night at UFC Fight Night 95. Despite Roy Nelson's apology after the event, UFC president Dana White is not happy with him. Days after the UFC event in Brasilia, Brazil, White went on UFC Unfiltered podcast and criticized the longtime heavyweight veteran for his action. "You can’t apologize for that," White said. "You don’t ever, ever put your f**king hands on a referee, or your feet, for any reason whatso f**king ever. You don’t do it. He needs to be buried. He went over there and he put his foot on his ass to like push him over, you know what I mean? Was flipping him off, yelling whatever. You wanna flip a ref off, there is never, ever a situation where you put your f**king hands on a referee. Ever. You can’t apologize for that." "I’ve been traveling since the fight so I haven’t seen what’s going on, but if the Brazilian athletic commission doesn’t reign on him, man, it’s not good," White said. "You don’t ever put your hands on a referee. I don’t care what the circumstances are, you don’t do. And listen, we don’t always agree with them, we have our favorites, we have our least favorites, [Steve] Mazzagatti, you know. The guy, no matter how good or whatever you feel about him, they are there for your safety. They are there to keep you safe. F**king, that dope isn’t the… you know what I mean?" "This guy is the f**king judge of when a fight should or shouldn’t be stopped? You’re a fighter, you go until the referee tells you to stop. John McCarthy is very qualified in what he does, he’s been here a lot longer than f**king Roy Nelson has been. And for Roy Nelson to go over and put his f**king hands on a referee, it can’t happen. It can never happen. But John is sitting there in his knees, tending to Bigfoot, and you come up behind him and f**king kick him? It’s despicable, it’s disgusting, it can never f**king happen, ever again."

Dana White: Ronda Rousey interested in fighting Cris Cyborg, could do it at 140
(mmafighting.com)
The potential for a women's superfight between Ronda Rousey and Cris "Cyborg" Justino is still alive, according to UFC president Dana White. Speaking on the UFC Unfiltered podcast, White said the former UFC women's bantamweight champion is interested in fighting the current Invicta and former Strikeforce featherweight champion. "Ronda wants to fight her," White said. "We'll have to figure out at what weight to fight. But Ronda wants that fight. ... Ronda could do [1]40."

Dana White said he’s working on Khabib Nurmagomedov vs. Michael Johnson for UFC 205
(mmafighting.com)
Khabib Nurmagomedov might not be getting a title shot, but he could be given a nice consolation prize. UFC president Dana White said Tuesday on ESPN's SportsCenter that he is working on a fight between Nurmagomedov and fellow lightweight contender Michael Johnson for UFC 205 on Nov. 12 in New York. The headliner for that event, of course, will be Eddie Alvarez defending his lightweight title against Conor McGregor, which White announced Monday night. "Khabib was also supposed to get a title fight at 155 pounds," White said. "Khabib called and says, ‘Alright, I get it. Conor is getting this fight? Put me on New York, too.' So, he wants to fight Michael Johnson."

Dana White: Conor McGregor will have to give up a title after UFC 205
(mmafighting.com)
Conor McGregor will have to give up a title, after all. Just not until after UFC 205, according to Dana White. The UFC president said Tuesday on SportsCenter that McGregor will go into the lightweight title fight with Eddie Alvarez on Nov. 12 as the featherweight champion — with the chance to make history and become the first fighter to hold two UFC belts at the same time. If McGregor wins, though, one of those belts will have to be forfeited. "He wants to try to gain both belts and he will give up one of the titles after that fight in New York," White said. Which one? White wasn't telling, replying "good question." "He's got some stuff going on right now, some personal stuff that I'm sure he'll announce when he's ready," White said. "But this fight made sense." White said he and McGregor argued about him coming back for UFC 205 due to the injury, but McGregor told him "I know my body better than you do," White said. White was asked what's it like negotiating with a guy like McGregor. "It's not that bad," White said. "He's an intelligent guy. And the thing that I love and respect about Conor McGregor is that he wants to fight everybody. He's my kind of guy."
