With Siver dispatched, UFC 162's Cub Swanson wants title shot – or Lamas rematch
Cub Swanson just keeps on doing work, and not he wouldn't mind a little reward. He's got a couple in mind, in case the UFC is listening. Why not give him the next title shot? And in lieu of that, how 'bout a crack at avenging his only UFC loss?

Fortunes changed for five at UFC 162
When Ronda Rousey and Liz Carmouche headlined UFC 157 on Feb. 23, the feeling in the building going in is that we were going to see one of the most historically significant nights in MMA history. The company didn’t miss a beat, promoting the show as "History in the making." Going into UFC 162, there was no such feeling, even though all of Anderson Silva’s records were on the line against an opponent that figured to have the best shot of beating him of anyone he had faced. Chris Weidman winning the title would have been big news under any circumstances. But the nature of those circumstances made it even bigger. It’s very rare when a second-round knockout leaves the public unconvinced over who is really the better fighter...

Signal to Noise: UFC 162's best and worst
There was much to love and hate about UFC 162. The successful return of Frankie Edgar was a welcome sight, but the languid performance of Chris Leben and the odd reaction of some Anderson Silva fans have been difficult to tolerate. It's time we separate the winners from the losers, the best from the worst and the signal from the noise...

Veteran referee Herb Dean had refereed four Anderson Silva fights prior to UFC 162 and seen others cageside. So when Silva began to clown Chris Weidman in the main event of this past Saturday's pay-per-view, he did little else but pay close attention.

UFC 162 salaries: Chris Weidman gets $48K, ex-champ Anderson Silva paid $600K
It pays to be the champ. Or at least, it used to. New UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman earned a disclosed payday of $48,000 for his weekend win over Anderson Silva. The ex-champ, meanwhile, earned $600,000. MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) today obtained the list of disclosed fight purses from the Nevada State Athletic Commission. UFC 162 took place July 6 at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The main card, including Weidman's second-round TKO victory over Silva, aired on pay-per-view following prelims on FX and Facebook. Weidman, who opted not to renew his UFC contract until after the title fight, is likely to get a handsome raise from his current pay, which included $24,000 to show and $24,000 as a win bonus. Silva, meanwhile, would have earned an additional $200,000 as a win bonus. The full list of disclosed UFC 162 paydays included:

Even in defeat, ex-UFC champ Anderson Silva still holds all the card
The way it normally works in the fight business, the person who gets knocked out shows up at the press conference later, trying to convince the promoter, the media and the fans that he deserves a rematch. Not the other way around. But then, there was nothing normal about the main event of UFC 162 in Las Vegas, so why should the immediate aftermath be different?
