Belfort in talks about Weidman fight in Rio
(espn.co.uk)
Vitor Belfort has revealed he has held talks with UFC matchmaker Joe Silva over a possible fight with Chris Weidman. "Guys, I spoke to Joe Silva and asked to fight with the top contender #weidman here in Brazil,2 Belfort tweeted. "I think this is the fight that will credence me to a title fight so that is what happened. "I want the belt but I am not desperate. I think Weidman is the next for the belt, but Anderson Silva deserves to see who is next. So let's make this fight the next contender: Belfort vs Weidman the next contender for Anderson Silva." Weidman quickly replied to Belfort, and he seemed less willing to meet the former light-heavyweight. Weidman tweeted: "Love ya @vitorbelfort but you already had your shot at the belt and I'm sure you will have another in the future. Right now is my time though." I really wish they would hurry up and clear up the MW picture right now but i guess they are waiting for bisping/stann

Michael Bisping: Fight with Brian Stann ‘Real Main Event’ for UFC 152, Not the Flyweights
(mmaweekly.com)
You can say what you want about Michael Bisping, but the guy sure knows how to sell a fight. With two months remaining until Bisping returns to action at UFC 152 to face decorated Marine turned middleweight contender Brian Stann, the brash Brit is already doing his part to make their co-main event fight the biggest thing on the upcoming card in Toronto. So big in fact that Bisping believes their bout is the real headliner and not the 125lb title fight between Joseph Benavidez and Demetrious Johnson. “In my opinion, and I think in most people’s, this is the main event. This is the real main event. Two big hard hitting guys. No one cares about little flyweights, this is the real main event, this is the real big fight, tune in cause someone’s getting knocked out, ain’t going to be me though,” said Bisping when speaking to Fuel TV on Saturday. “This is the real main event of UFC 152.”

Dana White Admits Calgary UFC 149 Was Disappointing
(sports.yahoo.com)
Dana White admitted the card fell short... I thought from the beginning the card should have been free - no way PPV. And then with that, with very few exceptions, they were very boring and dull fights Is it just me, or does anyone else not really care to watch Faber fight again? It's always the same 5 round non finish bore And Hector Lombard sort of reminded me of the crazy Paolo Fihlo when he fought Sonnen - it's like he was mentally elsewhere and seeing ghosts... not sure what happened to Lombard

Mike Guymon Running Away from Father Time, Chasing UFC Return
(mmaweekly.com)
Following his release from the UFC in early 2011, former King of the Cage welterweight champion Mike “Joker” Guymon decided it was time to step away from the sport. A year later, he felt amiss in his decision to retire, and decided to return to MMA. “I took a fight with BAMMA (in March), coming back at 155 pounds and fought Cris Leyva and I felt great,” Guymon told MMAWeekly.com. “I had that fire back in me. Just everything that was missing before, I had that back.” Then this past Friday, Guymon’s triumphant return continued, as he took a unanimous decision over Xtreme Couture prospect Mike Dizak at BAMMA’s latest installment in Commerce, Calif. “This was probably the toughest out of all my fights because I did it with a fractured shoulder,” said Guymon. “So to fight someone like Dizak and come out on top with the adversity I went through is something I’m still, like, tripping on. “I think there’s a couple of things that need to be done on my shoulder, but I want to get back in there,” he said. “I want to work my back into the UFC and show people what I can do. “I’d love to do it this year, but I think it’d be unrealistic to think I could pull off a huge string of victories quick by the end of this year with the way my physicality is now. I’m thinking that at the very first part of next year, I’d love to have that position where I’m back in the UFC and I’m fighting at 155 pounds.”

Bisping says he's been promised title shot
(espn.go.com)
Should Michael Bisping take care of business against Brian Stann when the two meet at UFC 152 in September, he’ll finally get his long-awaited title shot. “I’ve been told if I beat him -- and beat him well -- I’ll get a title shot,” Bisping said. “But I haven’t gotten it in writing, so it probably doesn’t mean anything.”

Ryan Jimmo hopes seven-second KO at UFC 149 silences critics – for a while, anyway
(mmajunkie.com)
Is there any way Ryan Jimmo's Saturday night could have been better? The light heavyweight made his long-awaited UFC debut. He got to fight on the prelims on FX. He fought in front of his home crowd in Canada. And he bagged a UFC record-tying seven-second knockout. The only way Jimmo's introduction to the UFC fan base could have been better is with a six-second KO, or a five. And that nearly was the case.

Nothing decided yet, but UFC boss says Chris Weidman currently closest to title shot
(mmajunkie.com)
Saturday's UFC 149 co-main event was supposed to provide a little clarity to the middleweight title picture. And it did – sort of. Tim Boetsch, a more than 3-to-1 underdog in his fight against former Bellator middleweight champ Hector Lombard, won a split decision – snapping Lombard's 25-fight unbeaten streak and throwing a wrench into the 185-pound class. And because of that upset, UFC president Dana White was no closer after the card to figuring out the next opponent for champ Anderson Silva as he was before it – though he has an idea the direction he'd go if the clock was ticking and he had to pick immediately: Chris Weidman.

White: Boetsch still in 'very, very good position' in title picture following UFC 149
(mmajunkie.com)
Tim Boetsch didn't exactly make a convincing case for a UFC middleweight title shot. Unlike Chris Weidman's emphatic win over Mark Munoz a few weeks prior, Boetsch's close victory over Hector Lombard at Saturday's UFC 149 event won't have fans clamoring for his immediate shot at champion Anderson Silva. UFC president Dana White, though, is willing to give the "Barbarian" a pass.

UFC 149 draws a reported 16,089 attendance for $4.1 million live gate
(mmajunkie.com)
Saturday night's UFC 149 pay-per-view event drew an announced attendance of 16,089 and a live gate of $4.1 million – a new live gate record for the venue. UFC president Dana White announced the figures at the night's post-event news conference, which MMAjunkie.com attended. UFC 149 took place at the Scotiabank Saddledome in Calgary and was the promotion's first visit to Canada's fourth largest city. The card featured a main event interim bantamweight title fight between Renan Barao and Urijah Faber, which Barao won by five-round unanimous decision.

With Hector Lombard hype train derailed, UFC boss thinks slugger should consider 170
(mmajunkie.com)
The heavily hyped UFC debut of former Bellator middleweight champ Hector Lombard was an utter failure, and UFC president Dana White thinks it may be time for the former Olympic judoka to consider a new weightclass. After Lombard turned in a lackluster effort against Tim Boetsch at Saturday night's UFC 149 event, the UFC boss said the stocky middleweight should at least consider dropping to 170 pounds. "Lombard maybe should fight at 170 pounds," White said. "He made 185 easily. He's short and wide, but I think he could make 170."
