Volkmann Calls Out “Fat Turd” Internet Forum Haters
“I don’t understand why people say my fights are boring. It’s just a different style. People don’t understand the technical style and then other people don’t like my fights and write on the Internet and it really frustrates me.

Dana White Opens Up About His Only Regret – Offensive Tirade from 2009
UFC president Dana White is not a man who lives with regret. Through more than a decade of building and cultivating the UFC, White has remained the figurehead and leader of the business that has seen mixed martial arts hit new heights never before imagined when the sport first landed on television screens in 1993. White has had his fair share of tumultuous relationships over the years: very public feuds with employees like Tito Ortiz and B.J. Penn, a longstanding pursuit of former Pride champion Fedor Emelianenko and the inside dealings with his management team, and even bridges burnt and rebuilt with promotions and several promoters. When asked, however, if he had any regrets through his time spent with the UFC, White could only point to one time where he made a major mistake and it still haunts him to this day...

After arrest, Brett Rogers gets rare second chance at Bellator 75
The police report paints an ugly picture. To read it is to put yourself there, in suburban Minneapolis, at 12:35 a.m. on June 29, 2011, by which point Brett Rogers has already done the things that will cost him his job, his self-respect, and, at least for a little while, his freedom. You read it and you see Rogers – all 6-foot-4, 260 pounds of him – drunk and slurring his words as he talks to police officers in his driveway. You keep reading, and you see Tiuana, his wife of seven years, dazed and disoriented as she stumbles down the street in the dark, only to be picked up by officers who will later describe the "golfball-sized" bump above her left eye, the blood smeared on her face, the missing tooth. You see the couple's children, who will later tell a neighbor that they're scared to go home...

Stephan Bonnar readies himself for Anderson Silva, possibility of becoming a father on Oct. 13
LAS VEGAS – Andrea Bonnar laughs nervously as she thinks of the correct word to describe what she expects her emotions will be on the night of Oct. 13. Her husband, Stephan Bonnar, will fight Anderson Silva before more than 18,000 rabid Brazilians that night in Rio de Janeiro in the main event of UFC 153. Her younger sister, Cassandra Brown, will be getting married that day in the Bahamas. And Andrea Bonnar, herself, will be in the 38th week of her pregnancy. There is a very real chance that while her husband is fighting the greatest mixed martial arts fighter of all-time and her sister is in a vacation paradise with the rest of the family tying the knot, she'll be alone in her Las Vegas home hoping her first child doesn't decide it's time. "I'm terrified [the baby will come that night]," she said. "I'm scared to death to have the baby, period, let alone without him being here with me." Andrea Bonnar isn't due until Oct. 30, but was told by her doctor that the child could arrive anywhere between the 38th and 41st weeks. The timing meant she'd have to miss her sister's wedding, which was a downer, but at least she'd have her husband with her. On the night of Sept. 12, that all changed.

Charlie Brenneman released by UFC
Charlie Brenneman is a UFC fighter no more. The scrappy grinder nicknamed “The Spaniard” was released by the UFC today after a quick, first-round TKO loss to Kyle Noke at UFC 152, which followed on the heels of a first-round submission loss to Erick Silva at UFC on FX 3. It was Brenneman’s third loss in his last four fights, and with a 4-4 record overall in the UFC — all losses via stoppage, all wins via decision — the promotion decided to release him. After making a cryptic tweet earlier today, Brenneman confirmed to theScore.com today via text that he has indeed been cut. LINK - Crap News

Stephan and Andrea Bonnar contemplating naming unborn son after former foe Forrest Griffin
UFC fighter Stephan Bonnar will become a first-time father sometime in October. There is a chance his new son will enter this world as he's fighting Anderson Silva in the main event of UFC 153 on Oct. 13 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. But whenever he comes, he might have a pretty catchy name. Bonnar and his wife, Andrea, haven't decided definitively upon a name for their unborn son, but one name they've kicked around is Griffin. As in, Griffin Bonnar. For those who aren't long-time mixed martial arts fans, those words have significant meaning in the sport...

How a Renzo Gracie Student Grew Up to Be the Newest Big Bad on Sons of Anarchy
Sons of Anarchy actor Harold Perrineau and the world of mixed martial arts go back a long, long way. Years before Perrineau made it on hit TV shows like the FX outlaw biker drama, or his turn as Michael Dawson on the ABC series ‘Lost’, he was a dancer making his way through musicals after growing up in Brooklyn. It was through that medium that he first discovered martial arts. “Many, many years ago I studied Kung-Fu. I used to be a dancer and then an easy transition for me was studying martial arts, and I studied Kung-Fu. I kind of liked the fluidity of it. Then back in the day I started reading magazines about this MMA thing and I was like what’s that?” Perrineau told MMAWeekly Radio in a recent interview. “I would read like Inside Kung-Fu and all these other things and it just started growing and growing and growing. Then the first UFC came on with Royce Gracie, and I was like ‘oh snap what’s that?’ so while I didn’t follow all the UFC’s, I certainly did watch the first couple of years.” While he wasn’t following along with every UFC event that happened, he did manage to mix in some training along the way that included a stop at Renzo Gracie‘s academy in New York City. Once Perrineau moved to Los Angeles to further pursue his acting career, his ties to the Gracie family didn’t stop however. Perrineau began working with Renzo Gracie black belt Shawn Williams, who was at the time only the fifth American to receive a black belt from the famous trainer and instructor. “I trained over at Renzo Gracie’s school for a little while in New York City doing jiu-jitsu. He is great and I started training with one of his first black belts, Shawn Williams, here in Los Angeles until I messed up my knee and I couldn’t keep doing it,” Perrineau stated.

MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) today confirmed with sources close to the promotion that a light-heavyweight contest between Anthony Johnson (13-4) and D.J. Linderman (14-3) is the sixth and final contest planned for the broadcast. The event takes place Nov. 3 at Las Vegas' Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino. An 11-time UFC veteran, Johnson fights for the third time as a light heavyweight. He's 5-1 in his past six contests. Meanwhile, the 29-year-old Linderman has been competing as a heavyweight in recent outings but will drop back down to 205 pounds for this contest. Currently 5-1 in his past six contests, Linderman has competed professionally since 2008 and has never lost a bout via stoppage. He currently stands as Cage Warriors Fighting Championship's heavyweight champion.

Forrest Griffin Fails Drug Test for Anderson Silva (Xanax)
"Referring to his bout opposite Anderson Silva in UFC 101, Forrest Griffin told MMA Hour. “I failed my drug test I think for Xanax. I had a doctor’s prescription, I was just, I didn’t do it before the fight, I did it the night before, I was nervous and I couldn’t sleep.” Griffin makes no mention of a suspension period and was seen opposite Tito Ortiz at UFC 106, 3 months later. Neither t he Pennsylvania State Athletic Commission nor the UFC did not release the failed urinalysis." Im surprised this never came out but wtf is he thinking taking bars before a fight even with a prescription.

Love of fighting leads ex-WWE star Dave Bautista to MMA debut
Dave Bautista spent the better part of a decade pretending to get punched in the face as a pro wrestler. Now that the 43-year-old heavyweight is less than a week away from his first chance to do it for real as a mixed martial arts fighter, he can hardly wait. The question he keeps hearing over and over – the one he can't seem to supply a satisfactory answer to – is, why? "I know some people have a hard time understanding it," said the former World Wrestling Entertainment champion, who's set to make his professional MMA debut in Providence, R.I., on Saturday (pay-per-view, $29.95). "I'm obviously never going to make the money that I made in the WWE, and it's not like I think I'm going to go become UFC champion." So why do it? Why suffer through an eight-week training camp, which Bautista described as "by far the hardest thing" he's ever done, just to fight on the small circuit against an unknown opponent? "I just want the experience," he said. "I don't have any ulterior motive. I just want to do it because I love it so much."

Daniel Cormier pushes for Pat Barry fight at Nov. 3 Strikeforce event
With Frank Mir injured and Matt Mitrione unwilling to take the fight, Strikeforce heavyweight Daniel Cormier appears to be taking charge of his own future. With his Nov. 3 Strikeforce headliner a little more than a month away, Cormier is publicly campaigning for an opponent, and it's sticking with the Strikeforce-vs.-UFC theme. Cormier (10-0 MMA, 4-0 SF) wants Pat Barry (7-5 MMA, 4-5 UFC). "@danawhite offer the fight to @HypeOrDie he's from Louisiana like me," he wrote. "He will take the fight. Let's do it!" He then encouraged fans to retweet the plea.

Rashad Evans: "They Offered Me Glover Teixeira, I Said "No
Add another name to the list of light heavyweights who didn't want to fight Glover Teixeira. Rashad Evans simply wasn't ready but he thinks he will be by January or February. The list of light heavyweights who wanted nothing to do with a fight against recent Octagon debutant Glover Teixeira just keeps growing and growing. The latest name to add to the list is former division champion Rashad Evans, who revealed as much on the UFC on FUEL TV 5 post-fight show last night (Sept. 29, 2012) when asked about his future and when he'll be returning to the cage: "I don't know. I talked to Dana [White] early this week and we talked about maybe December. But I'm thinking maybe January or February. I will fight anybody. I want to get a fight at light heavyweight. They offered me a fight, but it was against Glover Teixeira and I only had three weeks to fight and I haven't been training. I was like, ‘no way, not with that notice in Brazil.'" Rashad on Twitter Rashad Evans ?@SugaRashadEvans I will fight anybody with the proper notice.. But after 8yrs with the UFC & being one of their top earners. Y would I take a bad fight?! Rashad Evans ?@SugaRashadEvans Bad fight meaning not being in shape. Losing is hard enough but I will never serve myself up! If I'm haven't been training I won't fight! Rashad Evans ?@SugaRashadEvans I know alot of u fans may not realize but I don't walk around ready 2 fight. No one does. In this sport it takes at least 8wks 2 b ready! Rashad Evans ?@SugaRashadEvans Fighting another person is much harder than most ppl think & if im not training it takes time 2 get ready. There r no easy fights!
