Nick Diaz: UFC Is Trying To Make These Wrestling Matches
(mmajunkie.com)
It was one of the most shocking stories in mixed martial arts history. Former Strikeforce champion Nick Diaz (25-7 MMA, 6-4 UFC), handed the biggest opportunity of his career, no-showed a pair of pre-event press conferences and was pulled from a UFC 137 fight with UFC title-holder Georges St-Pierre (22-2 MMA, 16-2 UFC). The world struggled to make sense of the situation, and honestly, so has Diaz, himself. The fiery Californian admits he dropped the ball, but he's shocked St-Pierre went along for the ride. And that supposed disdain for the press? Garbage, says Diaz. Media members should feel free to stop by his gym anytime. "I'm not trying to make all these little excuses," Diaz today told MMAjunkie.com. "If I'd have known the fight was going to be off, I would have [expletive] gone to the press conference, or I would have told somebody, 'Hey, if I don't make it to this stupid [expletive], I'm not fighting.' I think that people would have gotten me there. I think people would have come and gave two [expletive] and gotten me to that press conference."

Josh Koscheck Blogs About Georges St. Pierre, Injury, Matt Hughes
(bloodyelbow.com)
i'll skip to the good stuff.... " But then last week I got word Matt Hughes, who has avoided me for years, needed an opponent for UFC 135 in Denver on Sept. 24. I've called out Hughes for so long but he's always avoided me. When he was on top and one of the top in the division, he used his position to avoid fighting me and all the AKA guys. But when Diego Sanchez pulled out hurt with three weeks to go, I knew the UFC would have no choice but to try to talk Hughes into fighting me. Like I knew he would, he tried to suggest fighting Jon Fitch instead, knowing full well Fitch is still recovering from shoulder surgery. I tweeted that I'd accepted the fight and was ready, just to put pressure on Hughes to quit bitching and take the fight. I wanted to make it so that if he did turn the fight down, all the fans would know that he bitched out. He had nowhere else to go and I've finally got my fight with Matt Hughes."

As it turns out, "The Thrashing Machine" might of just needed a little oil change. "Bigfoot" Silva on loss to Daniel Cormier - "I could never imagine he'd punch me like that"
(mmatorch.com)
Antonio "Bigfoot" Silva had a career high moment in February when he defeated Fedor Emelianenko in the quarterfinals of the Strikeforce Heavyweight World Grand Prix. But in his semifinals bout, he was on the wrong end of a brutal beating at the hands of Daniel Cormier. Silva talked to Tatame.com after the event about what went wrong, and gave his prediction for who will win the Grand Prix finals bout between Cormier and Josh Barnett: "I had a game plan, but I could never imagine he'd punch me like that. I wasn't underestimating him, but after he punched me I couldn't see a thing, I wasn't controlling my body anymore. I was doing things automatically, I could only see shadows. When I stood up I was dizzy. I was really dizzy after that jab, but I went for it. If I'm losing, at least I'll lose while fighting. It happened, he deserve the credits. I was well prepared, but he punched me. We didn't even really fought... I guess Josh [Barnett] will win [the finals]. If he doesn't make the same mistakes I did, of really going for it. That's the only chance Cormier got, his punch. He isn't any good on the ground to fight Josh there. He knows Wrestling, but… I guess Josh Barnett will win, he's more complete."

'Mayhem' Miller: Arrest for Assaulting Sister 'Now All Over With'
(mmafighting.com)
UFC middleweight Jason "Mayhem" Miller said on Monday's episode of The MMA Hour that his arrest for allegedly assaulting his sister in August is now "all over with," but added that "[i]t wasn't alleged; there was an actual altercation." Miller was arrested by the Chatham County Sheriff in North Carolina on August 7 for simple assault and false imprisonment after an incident during which he was said to have put his sister in a headlock and refused to let her leave a house party that both siblings were attending. "I'll just say this: my sister was not in any state to drive, and I stopped her from driving," Miller told Ariel Helwani. "However, she was in a state to file a police report, which is now all over with. It's all finished. It was unfounded...a Miller family experience that got out of hand."

Bisping said on The MMA Hour that he and Miller had several encounters during the taping of the show, and he came away from them with less respect for Miller than he had before. "Miller's mouth is bigger than his brain," Bisping said. "I definitely get the upper hand throughout the entire season. I'm not talking about the fights, I'm just talking about the one-on-one interaction with Miller."

Mo Lawal on Strikeforce: "Seems like Dr. Kevorkian is waiting to pull the plug"
(mmajunkie.com)
At this past weekend's poorly attended Strikeforce event, Muhammed "King Mo" Lawal was one of the few to say it – even though most people were thinking it. Strikeforce appears all but dead. "I (had) thought Strikeforce was a cancer patient," he told MMAjunkie.com Radio (www.mmajunkie.com/radio). "Man, it's a damn AIDS patient instead – with Dr. Jack Kevorkian in the background ready to pull the plug." Lawal's criticism began even before the event, "Strikeforce Grand Prix: Barnett vs. Kharitonov," which took place Saturday at Cincinanti's U.S. Bank Arena. Lawal (8-1 MMA, 3-1 SF) defeated fellow light heavyweight Roger Gracie (4-1 MMA, 2-1 SF) via first-round knockout on the Showtime-televised main card.

It was a lesson for Lima, who admitted the early blow affected his performance throughout the fight. However, he said he also learned a few valuable lessons along the way, including his new favorite dance move: the stanky leg.
