2x Olympic Gold Medalist Kayla moving to MMA 145lb
Kayla Harrison enters an ordinary door on a gray street on the outskirts of the Garment District and goes down the stairs to arrive at Renzo Gracie's jiu-jitsu academy. There is no entourage, no handlers, no TMZ, just her and a bunch of sweaty fighters who pay her no mind. You wouldn't know she is the most successful American judo Olympian in history. The 26-year-old Ohio native recently signed a four-fight contract with the World Series of Fighting In choosing the smaller promotion, Harrison turned down an offer from the UFC, according to the Boston Herald, to slowly and steadily build herself into the best MMA fighter in the world.

Chuck Liddell Inks Deal With WSOF Following UFC Termination
Fresh off his departure from the UFC, Chuck Liddell is already heading over to one of their rival promotions, WSOF. Liddell will be part of a signing at the theater in Madison Square Garden along with Randy Couture as was announced by World Series of Fighting earlier. WSOF President Ray Sefo talked about having Chuck Liddell at the event. “We are excited to have two of the sport’s most beloved and accomplished fighters on hand to meet our fans after WSOFNYC,” said Ray Sefo. “It will be a great honor to have them there following our historic event.” Chuck Liddell was part of a number of employees that were released by the UFC under their new ownership. He’d been in an executive/ambassador role with the company ever since retiring from competition in 2010.

Invicta strawweight champion Angela Hill is going to have to wait a while before returning to the UFC. The current Invicta strawweight champion was slated to return for UFC 207 later this month against Jessica Andrade, but her return was cut short upon receiving the news that she has to re-enter the USADA testing pools due to their guidelines.

Holm vs de Randamie for the inaugural featherweight title at UFC 208
Boxing traditionally had eight weight divisions and eight champions. It made things easy to remember and appreciate. UFC president Dana White is an old student of the sweet science; it is no coincidence that there are eight divisions for men in the UFC. There were only two weight divisions for women – 115 and 125. Women flyweights could move up to 135 or down to 115. Women featherweights could drop, and women atomweights could move up. So the talent was deep. The greatest female fighter in MMA is Cris Cyborg and the UFC engaged in a years-long effort to bring her down to 135 for a superfight with Ronda Rousey. However, the cuts took too much out of her and she eventually said no more.

Kelvin Gastelum staying at middleweight to fight Vitor Belfort
Though Kelvin Gastelum believes his ideal weight class is welterweight, he has agreed to stay at middleweight for his next fight to meet Vitor Belfort. The bout is set for a UFC Fight Night event on March 11 in Fortaleza, Brazil, according to AgFight, which confirmed an initial report by Combate. Gastelum (13-2) has had difficulty making the welterweight cutoff on several occasions, most recently having a UFC 205 bout with Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone canceled due to his failure to make weight.

King Mo interested in Fedor & Carwin fights, expects to walk Ishii down and ‘beat him up’
American Top Teams’ ‘King Mo’ Lawal is getting set to fight again this Friday on a card that’s flying a bit under the radar. The former Strikeforce champion entered Bellator as an expected top star for the promotion, and while he’s definitely found a lot of success, his run has come with its ups and downs. Perhaps the most notable hot streak Mo has had in the past few years came not under the Bellator banner, but for RIZIN. Mo entered into the 2015 100kg (220 lb) Grand Prix and won the whole thing, beating Brett McDermott and Teodoras Aukstuolis on his way to knocking out Jiri Prochazka. He followed that run with return to Bellator and a loss to Phil Davis back in May, and is now poised to bounce back against Satoshi Ishii.

New UFC matchmaker deserves a chance to show what he’s made of
A post on Facebook from number one light heavyweight title-contender Anthony “Rumble” Johnson Monday caught my eye. Johnson had recently lost out on a championship fight when Daniel Cormier pulled out of UFC 206 with injury. Johnson said he was game to fight a short-notice opponent, as long as it was at heavyweight. The former welterweight has had success at heavyweight, including a decision win over former world champ Andrei Arlovski in 2013. Johnson had gone on record saying that Arlovski had turned-down an offered rematch with him. On Monday, Johnson jumped on Facebook, saying he was “feeling annoyed,” and to apologize to “The Pitbull.” According to Johnson, Arlovski called him to set the record straight.

A women’s featherweight bout pitting Sinead Kavanagh and Elina Kallionidou is the latest addition to Bellator 169. The news was announced by the promotion on Monday. Kavanagh was originally scheduled to compete in a bantamweight fight against Eeva Siiskonen on the BAMMA portion of this co-promoted event, but will now be moving up a weight class to face Kallionidou under the Bellator banner. Kavanagh trains out of SGB Ireland and is 3-0 as a professional MMA fighter.

Commission practices at UFC Albany event draw criticism from fighters
Practices conducted by the New York State Athletic Commission (NYSAC) are drawing criticism from fighters following the UFC's event in Albany over the weekend. Multiple fighters and coaches confirmed with MMA Fighting that the commission would not let doctors give fighters stitches in the arena, a practice that is common in many other jurisdictions. Instead, fighters were sent to the hospital in an ambulance and some had to wait hours to get cuts sutured.

SUG 2 results: Jon Jones submits Dan Henderson, challenges Chael Sonnen to grappling rematch
Over four years after the cancellation of their ill-fated UFC 151 bout, Jon Jones and Dan Henderson finally competed against one another in a cage -- albeit not in the way many fight fans may have expected. In a grappling-only match, Jones submitted Henderson via arm-triangle choke at 6:39 of the main event of SUG 2 on Sunday night, settling a rivalry that began all the way back in 2012. "Dan is so strong. I did not expect him to be that strong," Jones said afterward. "Thank you so much for the opportunity, Dan. I really appreciate it, man. I know we've had our differences over the years, Dan, but I respect you tremendously. You're truly a legend and one of the greatest of all-time in our sport."

PFA head Jeff Borris says three factions vying to organize fighters is ‘good news for the UFC’
The MMA Fighters Association started up nearly a decade ago. The Professional Fighters Association kicked off in August. And last week, the MMA Athletes Association launched via a conference call with significant buzz. All the groups want to represent the interest of fighters against promoters. Most have similar goals, though there are many conflicts on how to achieve them. The MMAFA and MMAAA are associations, while the PFA is a prospective union. On Wednesday, a group of lawyers representing fighters in an antitrust case (many of whom are in the MMAFA) against the UFC sent a cease-and-desist letter to the MMAAA. The MMAAA responded with a statement hours later. The MMAFA and PFA have been at odds, too, on social media. The conflict between the groups have been public. And none of that is good news for the fighters, according to PFA founder Jeff Borris.
