Liz Carmouche meets Raquel Pennington at UFC 191 in Las Vegas
A women’s bantamweight matchup including a former title challenger has been added to next month’s UFC pay-per-view in Las Vegas.
Liz Carmouche (10-5 MMA, 2-3 UFC) will take on Raquel Pennington (5-5 MMA, 2-2 UFC) at UFC 191. The news was announced as part of Wednesday’s “UFC Tonight” on FOX Sports 1.
UFC 191 takes place Sept. 5 at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The main card airs on pay-per-view following prelims on FOX Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass.

WSOF has announced the final two bouts for the main card of WSOF 23.
Bantamweights Tito Jones (11-7) and Timur Valiev (9-1) will meet on the card as will lightweights LaRue Burley (6-0) and Brian Foster (22-7)

Next month’s UFC fight card in Japan has a new addition to the lineup.
Germany’s Nick Hein (12-2 MMA, 2-1 UFC) will head east to meet Japanese newcomer Yusuke Kasuya (9-1-2 MMA, 0-0 UFC). Promotion officials recently announced the new lightweight booking for UFC Fight Night 75.

Paddy Holohan vs. Louis Smolka set for UFC Fight Night 76 in Dublin
Following his win in Scotland in July, Paddy Holohan is ready to fight again in his home city.
Holohan (12-1-1 MMA, 3-1 UFC) is set to meet Louis Smolka (9-1 MMA, 3-1 UFC) in a flyweight bout in October at UFC Fight Night 76 in Ireland. UFC officials announced the new booking today.

Fabricio Werdum to defend heavyweight title against Cain Velasquez
After much debating as to who heavyweight champion Fabricio Werdum would face in his first legitimate title defense, it looks like he'll draw a familiar foe.
On Wednesday, UFC Tonight's Ariel Helwani reported that former champion Cain Velasquez will get an immediate rematch with Werdum, following his loss UFC 188 loss to the Brazilian in June. UFC president Dana White confirmed to UFC Tonight that Velasquez/Werdum II is officially booked, yet a time and place is yet to be determined.

With Sean O’Connell (17-6 MMA, 2-2 UFC) forced out of his fight against newcomer Misha Cirkunov (9-2 MMA, 0-0 UFC) due to an injury, the UFC has tapped Daniel Jolly (5-0 MMA, 0-0 UFC) to step in on short notice.

The never-ending conflict in mixed martial arts between management and labor, or should we say between promoters and fighters, has really come to the fore this year. Over the last few months an antitrust lawsuit, the new Reebok deal, and the USADA testing policy have sparked debates on fighter pay, lost sponsorship income, and lack of input from the athletes on the rules and regulations governing them. And this is in only in the UFC, never mind the number of complaints that one sees directed at other promotions. All of this has had led to discussions of possible solutions, including perhaps the most serious talk of a fighters association the sport has seen to date.
