Miguel Torres Wins At IMMAC, Moves To Bodog
Torres has been competing in MMA events for the last seven years and is placed as one of the top MMA featherweights in the world, especially in the Shooto World and Americas rankings. So as a featherweight... where can he go from here?
"Bodog and the W.E.C. both offered me contracts. Bodog made a higher bid, so I am going with them. Since they are offering me more money than any other featherweight fighter in the world, I am going to invest all my time and energy into training. For the last three years, I've been doing a lot of teaching. I am really going to focus on fight training," Torres said.
Pancrase champ to face Cage Warriors champ this Friday
The Featherweight King of Pancrase and Cage Warriors featherweight champion are set to clash in a non-title bout on April 27 at the Korakuen Hall in Toyko, Japan.
The battle of champions will see the inaugural featherweight K.O.P. Yoshiro Maeda taking on English featherweight Danny Batten, who has held the Cage Warriors 145-pound title since 2005.
The Fabio Negao Nascimento-Yuji Hisamatsu bout was scrapped by Pancrase Tuesday when they found out Nascimento was knocked out last Saturday at No Limits: Proving Ground in Irvine, CA.
Furthermore, Pancrase is claiming Nascimento breached his contract by taking the fight one week prior to his scheduled bout against Hisamatsu.

Bonus Pay Outs From UFC 70 "Nations Collide" Revealed
According to Loretta Hunt and TheFightNetwork.com, these are the bonus pay outs awarded to fighters for fight of the night, knockout of the night and submission of the night at UFC 70 "Nations Collide".
Fight of the Night:
Michael Bisping vs. Elvis Sinosic
Knockout of the Night:
Gabriel Gonzaga high kick of Mirko CroCop
Submission of the Night:
Terry Etim's guillotine choke over Matt Grice
The amount of the pay outs given for these bonus categories change. Sometimes it's $5,000 per, $10,000 per and $15,000 per. Your guess is as good as mine here, but I would assume it's one of the larger amounts.
Tim Sylvia to get back surgery?
Former UFC heavyweight champion Tim Sylvia wasn’t fibbing when he revealed during the in-ring interview immediately after his loss to Randy Couture at UFC 68 that he injured his back.
In fact, “The Maine-iac” is considering surgery, according to a blog post earlier this month on his official Web site.
Here’s the snip from April 13:
“Matt [Hughes] and I are in St. Louis, MO today and tomorrow for the NRA show. I got my 3rd cortisone shot for my back and if this doesn’t work out, I’ll have surgery in 2 weeks. Heading up to Oregon on Wednesday for some turkey hunting, I’ll be hanging out with my buddies from BowTech Archery while I’m up there.”
UFC Quick Quote: ‘Big Nog’ excited to make Octagon debut
“I know there are a lot differences [in UFC rules] and I’ll have to adapt my game. But I always looked for the submissions, and I believe that my adaptation will be good. Maybe because of the fact the fight is in the Octagon my opponent will be able to avoid my takedowns. But I can handle it, and we will see how things are going to work. About the rules, here in UFC elbows are allowed, but when the opponent uses it, he opens more spaces and this will make things easier for me. My expectations about making my first fight in the Octagon are big. I’m anxious to show the same submission game I showed in Japan. I want to prove that I’ll be successful in the UFC and my first step will be my debut fight. Now I have to train and wait for the great day.”
– Former PRIDE FC heavyweight champion Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira talks about his eagerness to make his UFC debut, as well as how the rule changes might affect his fight game, with Sherdog.com. No opponent or date has been announced for the Brazilian’s first appearance inside the Octagon

You can listen to the episode at fcfighter.com. Salmon’s segment begins at 5:53 of the broadcast.
On the show, Salmon goes in-depth about his upcoming fight with Schafer, and he also discusses how they almost first fought at a smaller MMA show before they were both signed by the UFC. Additionally, he talks about his UFC Fight Night 8 fight, his decorated wrestling background, getting signed by the UFC, and how he landed the fight with Evans
David Heath Apologizes for “Boring” UFC 70 Fight
UFC.com listed the battle of undefeated fighters as part of the televised main card. Spike TV’s Countdown show featured it as, well. The TV commercials, print advertisements, and official press releases all listed its televised status.
However, when Spike TV’s broadcast of UFC 70 finally rolled around this past weekend, the light-heavyweight bout featuring Ryoto Machida and David Heath was nowhere to be found.
Instead, an undercard fight featuring England’s Terry Etim and Oklahoma wrestler Matt Grice aired in its place.
The reason the fight went untelevised was fairly obvious: the unanimous-decision victory for Machida lacked any real action, and the decision-makers probably felt that the broadcast time could be better spent on a more exciting fight. The Etim-Grice lightweight fight, which included brutal ground and pound from Grice before an eventual submission by Etim, fit the bill.
Tito Ortiz on Rashad Evans: “He Will Be My Nappy Headed Ho”
Former UFC champion Tito Ortiz will face The Ultimate Fighter 2 heavyweight winner Rashad Evans at a UFC 73 event on July 7.
Although a recent skirmish between the two fighters at UFC 69 heated up the rivalry, Ortiz just throw a bucket of fuel on the fire with a recent forum posting about his opponent.
In a thread titled “UFC first woman fighter!!!!!!!!!!!” at The Underground Forum, Ortiz stated:
Rashad Evans!!! He will be my Nappy Headed Ho. On 7-7-07…Let The Punishment Begin!!! Tito Ortiz www.Punishment.com

More On Cro Cop Loss: Dana's Reaction
Dana White had the following to say about the loss of a potential blockbuster main event in Randy Couture vs. Mirko Cro Cop:
"You can't [book fights] like you do in boxing. You can't build a guy up to 39-0 with 39 knockouts. Anything can happen."
He went on to tell Todd Martin of the LA Times:
"You're always at risk in this sport. I don't even think like that any more. I didn't think it was guaranteed we were going to get to Cro Cop-Couture. There are no guarantees."
White was also sure to throw Cro Cop under the bus for making us wait for the Croatian superstar getting a possible UFC HW Title shot.
"Cro Cop's guys wanted to have a couple fights before they fought Randy Couture. And to be honest with you I think they wanted the fights to milk the contract."
Ratings for UFC 70 special draws strong key male demo ratings, 1.8 overall
UFC 70 "Nations Collide," which aired on Spike TV last Saturday in prime time, drew more male viewers 18-34 than any other show all day Saturday on all of televison - baodcast or cable, with over 100,000 more viewers than its nearest competitor, NASCAR on Fox.
It also drew more men 18-34 than first round coverage of the NBA on ESPN and Saturday afternoon baseeball on Fox featuring the Yankees vs. Red Sox.
The overall rating was 1.84 (1.7 million households), still less than half of what a typical edition of WWE Raw draws on Monday nights each week, but a strong cable rating nonetheless.
The card improved Spike's ratings in that timeslot a year earlier same date by 651 percent among 18-34, 2,150 percent among M18-24, and 406 percent among M 25-34.
The peak rating for UFC 70 came during the final 15 minutes, drawing a 4.36 rating among M18-34 and a 2.24 overall household rating (3.5 million viewers). That peak rating is similar to a typical Raw peak rating for its final quarter hour.
Mirko Cro Cop vs. Gabriel Gonzaga was the second-most-watched UFC fight in history, after the October 2006 Tito Ortiz vs. Ken Shamrock III on Spike TV.

New CC interview: "I was lost"
Here's the translation from someone at Sherdog:
Although a KO he survived looked deadly, Mirko Filipovic does not have a headache. He's ankle is bruised though.
I'm not going to do anything for two weeks. I won't be drinking vitamines or proteines. I'm gonna clear my body. I'm a very spiteful person, and I wanted to start training the same night I came home but i know that would be contra - productive – says Mirko.
I WAS LOST
Mirko feels very bad he disappointed his fans, especially ones who came to Manchester to support him. And he does not care for people who enjoyed his fall!
„I'm not obliged to anybody for justification. Except for 2 years in amateur boxing where few boxing turnament trips were payed for me, no sporting association has invested in me. I'm my own investment.“
He has no excuse for his performance. He does not know what happened, but he can say in what state he was:
„I don't have an alibi. To me it happens once in a while. I looks like I was blown out after I won OWGP. I wasn't happy even with my first fight in UFC. This time also i didn't decided to go in some exchange of strikes. There was no fighting spirit in me, I was lost!
Mirko added that he had no iniciative and no strategy!
„What happened had nothing to do with my preparations and conditioning. It has to do with concentracion in the fight and focusing on the opponent. Before the fight I was nervous, thinking about stupid things – i was in some bad mood altogether. It just looks I'm that kind of guy. I need a rude awakening to get focused again.
He says he didn't even see the HK coming:
„After those elbow shots to the tample, when I stood up, all I saw was sam blurry stuff.“
Mirko said he's gonna do some changes in his trainings. He's gonna do elbows and defendin elbows wich he didn't do.
„I'm not used to elbows. But that's my problem. And I have to do special trainings for my ankles witch had been hurt many times.“
And he stated he wants a rematch with Gonzaga.
Dana White: Cro Cop’s Camp Wanted to “Milk” Contract
Dana White: Cro Cop’s Camp Wanted to “Milk” Contract
Posted by UFC Junkie on April 24, 2007 at 8:46 am ET
Newly acquired UFC heavyweight and former PRIDE champion Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic and his camp wanted to “milk” their contract by putting off a title shot, which led to his upset loss to Gabriel Gonzaga at this past weekend’s UFC 70 event, according to UFC president Dana White.
White made the statement to a reporter for an latimes.com story published last night.
According to the report, it wasn’t the UFC’s sole decision to delay Filipovic’s potential title shot with UFC heavyweight champion Randy Couture. In fact, White said the decision came from Filipovic’s camp, which wanted to draw out the contract — probably in hopes that the fighter could score a lucrative contract renewal if he became champion.

Tickets on Sale for The Ultimate Fighter 5 Finale
One small suggestion: If you’re serious about attending this event, purchase your tickets early. The Palms is a fairly small venue — much smaller than the arenas usually used for UFC pay-per-views — and it’s sure to sell out quickly, especially with the much-anticipated rematch between Penn and Pulver. Additionally, the finalists from The Ultimate Fighter 5 — as well as some of the season’s other stars — will compete in the finale.
