Fighter Salaries: Addressing The Problems
As a follow-up to Fighter Salaries: The Problems With Revenue Linking, in the coming days I will be examining potential suggestions that could help to improve the hotly contested MMA issue that is fighter pay. For the sake of convenience - and also because they are the "800 lbs. gorilla in the room" - most of this discussion will focus on the UFC. While I certainly do not believe that the UFC and MMA are interchangeable, the sport's biggest organization is almost always at the forefront of every debate regarding the sport and the industry.
Georges St. Pierre Nominated for an ESPY (Vote!!)
Georges St. Pierre has been nominated for an ESPY in the "best fighter" category. You can vote , but you have to sign up. He is up against four boxers, including Floyd Mayweather, Joe Calzaghe, Kelly Pavlik, and Holly Holm. Last year, Randy Couture and Quinton Jackson were both nominated, but came up short. This year the boxing vote will likely be split, which gives Georges a good chance of winning if MMA fans sign up and vote for him.
In some ways he seems like a token Mixed Martial Arts nomination, but I think he's a good one. Nobody else besides Anderson Silva has had a better summer to summer period since the last awards in the MMA world.
WAR MMA!! we gotta stick up for our fighters! VOTE!!!

“Considering the magnitude of this fight, and the partnership between Affliction and Donald Trump, it seemed only fitting that the huge talent pool on the ‘Affliction Banned’ show should be seen by millions in New York’s Times Square. You know it’s a big show when you have a billboard on Broadway.”

Cote: Career Best Needed to Beat Almeida
Patrick Cote (Pictures) doesn't know where he was the night of Nov. 11, 2006. He knows where he wasn't: in the cage, calculating a way to counter the predictable submission attack of Travis Lutter (Pictures).
"I wasn't there at all," Cote said. "Mentally, I wasn't there at all. My game plan was the worst game plan that I've ever had in my life."
It was not the best time to come into a fight unprepared. That nationally televised bout, in which Lutter armbarred Cote in roughly two minutes, was all that stood between him and a shot at the UFC middleweight title.

MMARated.com spoke with “Joe Daddy” about moving on from the Penn loss and getting ready for Tibau.
