Blood Sport (NY Times)
My husband had flown to Las Vegas to see a fight. I couldn’t decide whether his recent interest in live bouts at the MGM Grand was better or worse than another guy’s passion for, say, the hilarious Americana of strip clubs. I noticed I didn’t exactly boast to friends about his new hobby.

Jon ”Bones” Jones - UFC 100 and Playstation Interview!
Jon ”Bones” Jones - UFC 100 and Playstation Interview!
After a decisive victory over Stephan Bonnar at UFC 94, Jon Jones will make his return to the Octagon in July at UFC 100. Jones talked with PDG about his next fight, training and blasting his way through Call of Duty 4.
PDG: What about the whole Vaseline – Gate situation? Jones: Yeah that's some of what I'm talking about with all the greasing comments. I think that GSP could have won that fight if he had sand paper on his back.
Lyoto: “Anderson would knock Fedor out”
Pointed as the best pound for pound fighter in the world, Anderson Silva doesn’t know what is a loss for nine fights, meanwhile Fedor Emelianenko remains undefeated for eight years, time in witch he got 26 victories and one no contest. To end with the questions of who really is the best, we asked some MMA specialists, how would the a fight between them (at 231lbs catchweight), and Lyoto Machida bet in the Brazilian. “Anderson has much more technical quality than Fedor, He’d knock him out”, said Machida.
Nate Loughran Opts Out of UFC
Nate Loughran, who trains at the NorCal Fighting Alliance with Dave Terrell, has been granted his release from the Ultimate Fighting Championship. According to manager Tom Call, the separation was amicable.
"Nate is going to drop to the 170-pound division (he was competing at 185 pounds) and is going to take a couple of fights in smaller show," said Call. "If successful, we expect him back in the UFC."
Concern grows over MMA officiating
Dave Meltzer's latest piece. Definately worth a read:
“[Kizer] knows my opinion,” said White. “He has no answer. He doesn’t want to hear from me.” “Steve Mazzagatti is a great referee,” said Kizer. White was critical of Mazzagatti for a late stoppage in the Dec. 27 fight with Cheick Kongo beating Mostapha Al-Turk, in a match in which both sustained low blows. “I’m going to tell the fighters they can turn down referees and it’s in their hands if they want a ref who may end up getting them hurt in a match,” said White, who noted that both Anthony Johnson and Randy Couture have turned down Mazzagatti to officiate recent matches when assigned. Until the day arrives in which mixed martial arts has enough top-notch referees to go around, such the ability to turn down a referee may be the fighter’s safest option.
Dana White: Chuck Liddell needs to ‘dazzle me’ at UFC 97 to keep fighting
I’ve made it very clear to Chuck. Very clear. It’s not about money, it’s not about this, that. Chuck is one of my good friends. Chuck (has) cemented his legacy in the UFC and in the fight game. I’m not even saying if he wins, unless he looks incredibly impressive (in Montreal) - I mean, he’s going to have to go out there and dazzle me, for me to want Chuck to still fight. I love him, and I don’t want to see what I saw in his last fight ever again.”
UFC President Dana White has an interesting take on the future of his good friend — and perhaps still his biggest draw — former light heavyweight champion Chuck Liddell. “Iceman” got iced bad his last time out, sustaining a vicious knockout courtesy of Rashad Evans at UFC 88: “Breakthrough” in September 2008. It marked the third loss in four fights for the San Luis Obispo, Calif., resident and the second brutal knockout during that span. He next fights former Pride FC wrecking machine Mauricio “Shogun” Rua in the co main event at UFC 97: “Redemption” from the Bell Centre in Montreal, Canada, on April 18. It should be interesting to see how the cool and calm Liddell responds to White turning up the heat while he’s possibly in the twilight of his legendary career. Hmmm ….
Jon Jones Vs Jake O'Brien @ UFC 100
Jon Jones, the rising phenom ,is taking on Jake O’Brien at UFC 100. Jake has fought as a heavyweight in the UFC, and a big one at that, so it will be interesting to see how he does at 205. Jones is coming off a big win over Stephan Bonnar at UFC 94, and his exciting style has garnered him a lot of attention in the world of MMA.
I have spoken to sources close to the fight and they’ve confirmed that it’s on for UFC 100.
Miller emerges from "retirement" for Kingdom MMA, "Bully Beatdown"
Just five months ago, the MMA world was shocked to hear of the sudden retirement of the indescribable Jason "Mayhem" Miller (21-6).

And if you choose to believe the 28-year-old's latest story - told to TAGG Radio (www.taggradio.com), the official radio partner of MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) - the whole retirement scare was just a misunderstanding, anyway.
Jason Brilz Happy With UFC 96, Wants A Test
After winning a fight on an Ultimate Fighting Championship pay-per-view, some fighters would be spending their fist few days afterwards partying it up and enjoying the excesses that come with being a high-level mixed martial artist.
Not Jason Brilz.
Shortly after defeating Tim Boetsch in a three-round war of wills at UFC 96 on Saturday, Brilz spent the day relaxing with his two young daughters, taking them to the mall to enjoy a day of shopping.

Rebuilt and refocused, Hermes Franca ready to return to winning ways
When Hermes Franca (19-7 MMA, 6-4 UFC) was forced to withdraw from the main event of February's UFN 17, the Brazilian lightweight was sorely disappointed.
Compounding the frustration was learning that he would be out for several months after undergoing intense surgical procedures.
But as Franca recently told TAGG Radio (www.taggradio.com), the official radio partner of MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com), he has already rebuilt himself one time before -- so how hard could it be to rebuild a knee?
Jon Fitch vs Paulo Thiago likely for UFC 100
Former number one welterweight contender Jon Fitch is in talks to possibly return to the Octagon against undefeated submission specialist Paulo Thiago at UFC 100 from the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, on July 11.
Bout agreements have not been signed at this time; however, both sides appear to be open to the 170-pound contest.
Stitch greasing Hughes
Just thought I would post this to show just how accidental these things are
there is no way that Duran would intentional grease up anyone
And why the only the cut man can use the Vaseline rule is ridiculous too..
