Adrenaline MMA debuts with plenty of fights, but disappointing attendance
(mmajunkie.com)
HOFFMAN ESTATES, ILL. – Adrenaline MMA fashioned its first show Saturday night at Sears Centre Arena in Hoffman Estates, Ill., just outside of Chicago with fighters from various promotions and a wide range of skill level. "We want to be the Strikeforce of the Midwest and to do that, you have to bring the best Midwest fighters together," said Adrenaline CEO Monte Cox in assessing the show. "I was happy. How can you not like this set of fights? We had a little bit of everything."

Walsall warrior to stay a welterweight
(setanta.com)
Paul “Relentless” Taylor knows he could be headline-maker in the UFC lightweight division, but while he continues to finish on the right side of 15-minute wars like he did against Jess Liaudin, England’s Walsall warrior is happy to remain a welterweight. There are some nicknames that just don’t ring true in The UFC. Rich “No Love” Clementi, Matt “handsome” Wiman…to name but two. But then there are those nicknames that encapsulate the very essence of the fighter. Thiago “Pitbull” Alves, Quinton “Rampage” Jackson…Paul “Relentless” Taylor. The 28-year-old has fought four times in The UFC, winning two, and losing the other two in Fight of the Night battles. Still, he remains behind a host of top names in the welterweight queue though. Time to drop down? Not on your life.

Iceman Rx Inc. Scores Major Success with Lyoto Machida During UFC 84
(emediawire.com)
Up and coming Mixed Martial Arts fighter Lyoto "The Dragon" Machida was the talk of the town as he handed Former UFC champion Tito Ortiz a defeat in what was said to be Tito's last UFC fight. Another big winner appears to be Chuck "The Iceman" Liddell's supplement company, Iceman Rx which had secured Lyoto Machida as a spokesperson for their nutritional supplement line prior to the fight. Although Chuck Liddell and Lyoto Machida share the same weight class, the business relationship was a simple decision for Iceman Rx, as Lyoto is touted to be a rising star in the Mixed Martial Arts world. "I think it's great for Iceman Rx and I'm happy to have Machida, a great competitor and humble fighter, represent Iceman Rx at UFC 84. To see my banner in the ring staring down Tito, an old rival of mine, during the introductions and watching Machida pull out a dominant victory was just icing on the cake," said Liddell when asked about Lyoto wearing the Iceman Rx Brand at UFC 84. Machida appears to be one of the first marquee fighters added to Team Iceman Rx, as the brand is growing at an incredibly rapid rate and the Iceman Rx Complete 2-Step Package gains a devoted following. When asked about his involvement with the new supplement line Machida said, "I'm honored to be one of the first fighters selected to be a part of Team Iceman Rx." This latest victory in the ring for Iceman Rx serves as a testament to the efficacy of the product as more and more fighters have begun adding the 2-Step package to their workout regimen. The Pre-Workout formula aids in development of strength, training intensity, and stamina. The post-workout formula helps with muscle recovery, refueling the body and muscle growth. Together they form the patent pending Iceman Rx Complete 2-Step Package.

Swick ready for all welterweights, including Fitch and Koscheck
(mmajunkie.com)
After controlling the bulk of the action en route to a comfortable unanimous decision victory over fellow welterweight Marcus Davis, Mike Swick (12-2 MMA, 7-1 UFC) says he has now adjusted to fighting at 170 pounds. In just his second fight in the division since dropping from middleweight, Swick appeared to be a completely different fighter than the "Quick" that grinded out an admittedly less-than-stellar victory over Josh Burkman in January.

Saturday Afternoon Throwdown: Three UFC light heavyweight fights that need to happen
(mmamania.com)
With Quinton “Rampage” Jackson set to defend his UFC 205-pound title against Forrest Griffin in a few weeks at UFC 86: “Jackson vs. Griffin,” it’s a good time to discuss some other potential fights in the stacked division. It’s obvious that the UFCs light heavyweight class is the deepest division in mixed martial arts today. With guys like Chuck Liddell, Lyoto Machida, Wanderlei Silva, Thiago Silva and Mauricio “Shogun” Rua, among others, there are plenty of contenders who consider themselves the next man in line for a shot at the strap.

Carano moves to 145 lbs class
(mmajunkie.com)
They are also looking at a women's match, featuring Shayna Baszler (9-4). The winner of that match would most likely face Carano in October to create the company's first women's champion, in a 145-pound weight class. "I don't believe Gina Carano can make 140 pounds," said Gary Shaw, after Carano came in at 144.5 pounds on May 31 for her 140-pound weight class win over Kaitlin Young. Carano had to forfeit 12.5 percent of her purse to Young as a result of not making weight.

James Thompsom interview
(msn.foxsports.com)
Like many MMA fighters, James Thompson is open and honest when discussing his career. The unassuming nature of fighters is one of the sport's greatest qualities, and it's a refreshing change from the clichés and platitudes by an infinite number of pretentious athletes in more established sports.

The photo at right is from the DREAM 4 press conference. Here's a SukiMMA translation of Sak talking about his opponent Melvin Manhoef a couple of days ago:

The last big one everyone thought was a big threat ... Looks like Dana is trying out to play cornerback.
