Georges St-Pierre All But Closes the Door on Anderson Silva Superfight
(mmaweekly.com) The idea of UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre moving up a division to face middleweight titleholder Anderson Silva in a superfight has been kicked around for years. It’s a promotional dream, but St-Pierre on Tuesday all but closed the door on the possibility of fighting Silva… at least in the near term.
The 31-year-old Canadian appeared on UFC commentator Joe Rogan’s latest podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience, and said he’d likely face Johny Hendricks next.
St-Pierre had cleared out the 170-pound division before suffering an ACL injury that required surgery and extensive rehabilitation while preparing to face Nick Diaz at UFC 143. The knee injury sidelined the champion for 19 months, and new contenders emerged in his absence.
“I need to do stuff in my division before I take (a superfight) because it has moved now,” said St-Pierre.

GSP: Get Rid of Rounds in MMA
(tapnapsnap.com)
There’s a lot of things I would change in the sport. First of all, the time, there’s no time, no round. Seriously, I believe it is stupid, the round. If you want to see who’s the best man, let them fight, you know? Fifteen minutes or maybe 25 minutes for the championship. No rounds. Why the round? Why are we trying to be like boxing? We’re not boxers — they did rounds to be like boxing to be accepted as a sport. Yeah, of course, 100 percent (there would be more finishes). No rounds. I think it’s ridiculous. 100 percent I would rather fight with a rule like this, I think it’s more honest, like, who’s the better man? Let them fight.

Vinny Magalhaes says they'll need two referees for his UFC 159 bout with Phil Davis
(mmafighting.com) Vinny Magalhaes and Phil Davis have traded taunts over the Internet for months. They're finally about to get into the Octagon and settle their differences, as the light heavyweight contenders will square off at UFC 159 at Newark's Prudential Center on Saturday.
But on Monday's edition of The MMA Hour, Magalhaes had one final message for his rival: Bring an ice pack.
"I hope they could have two referees in the cage, because if I get a chance, I'm going to pop his arm," Magalhaes said. "I did that against Igor [Pokrajac], I tapped him out and I kept holding. And I think its not going to be any different for Phil. If I get him into something I'm going to hurt him. I'm not saying break it, just make him feel it for a week. When I fought Igor, three hours later he was still putting ice on his elbow. I think it's not going to be any different with Phil."

UFC's T.J. Dillashaw wants short rest, open to fight with 'name' Brad Pickett
(mmajunkie.com) Following a weekend win at UFC on FOX 7, T.J. Dillashaw is looking at the bantamweight division's rankings and hoping to fight one of the names listed above him.
Dillashaw (8-1 MMA, 4-1 UFC) picked up an impressive first-round TKO win over Hugo Viana (7-1 MMA, 2-1 UFC) at this past Saturday's event. It marked his fourth consecutive win, and in the latest USA TODAY Sports/MMAjunkie.com MMA bantamweight rankings, he moved from No. 14 to No. 13.
Dillashaw believes Viana was an underrated opponent.
"He doesn't have a huge name behind him, but he's a very tough fighter, and people are going to start to realize that," Dillashaw told MMAjunkie.com Radio (www.mmajunkie.com/radio).
He hopes that's not the case with his next opponent. Dillashaw believes he deserves a Top 10 opponent, and preferably it'll come against someone with an already-established name.
He mentioned No. 6-ranked Brad Pickett and fast-rising prospect Erik Perez as possibilities. Pickett, especially, would give Dillashaw a big name on his resume, which he knows is crucial when it comes to earning title shots.
