After MMAJunkie.com Story, Tim Kennedy Gets Wish Of Military/MMA Career
Even heroes need heroes sometimes. Special Forces Operator Tim Kennedy is tough as nails. He has been blown up and shot at, and he kept moving toward the enemy. He's one of the best shooters in the world, finishing the famed El Presidente target shoot in less than three seconds. He can literally curve bullets as a sniper. He has conquered almost every rigorous Army school there is, including Ranger School. And to top it all off he is one of the best middleweights in MMA. But this time, none of that would save him. He needed MMAjunkie.com. Last week the site posted a story about Kennedy leaving the service because he couldn't get cleared to stay in the military while remaining a fulltime professional MMA fighter. Mere hours after the story was posted, LTC Douglas O'Connell of the Texas National Guard reached out and asked Kennedy to represent Texas. Now Kennedy will be able to fight in September, likely for Strikeforce on 9/25 vs. Evangelista Santos, and continue fighting full-time while serving in the Texas National Guard as a shooting instructor, tactics instructor and Army Combatives instructor.
Elvis Sinosic Talks About The Affliction Crash
Elvis Sinosic Talks About The Affliction Crash
I write this opinion as a fan, a fighter and a coach. It was sad to see the demise of another big MMA organization. To see Affliction collapse was sad. As a fan I have now lost another opportunity watch MMA. I lost the opportunity to watch fighters that aren’t in the UFC. So I am left with less MMA and in my opinion that is disappointing. As a fighter it means one less show that I have the opportunity to fight in. This means one less avenue which allows me to earn a living (and for all other fighters as well). Sadly no one show will be able to give every fighter and opportunity. We need more shows to give the fighters more exposure and more opportunity to fight. As a coach it means one less show for my fighters to compete in. Sadly the demise has left a hole in the sport. Hopefully in time that hole will be filled by another organization. But even still it still means one less place to share my enjoyment of MMA.

Georges St. Pierre looking to train with Lyoto Machida
Coming off a dominating performance at the UFC’s most anticipated show ever, UFC 100, Georges St-Pierre has put a stamp on his weight class and is pondering a move up to seek new challenges.
With this prospect on his horizon, he is reaching out to another UFC Champion in Lyoto Machida due to one thing they have in common. It isn’t their UFC belts, rather their matching black belts in Karate.
Women's MMA reality show
Television producer Lyle Howry is quick to dismiss attempts to compare his new women's MMA reality show to "The Ultimate Fighter," but "TUF"-like success is very much his goal.
"Ultimate Women Challenge" recently began production and will bring together 16 MMA fighters in September to compete for contracts with a yet-to-determined promotion. The show will put the women through three weeks of intense training and, Howry hopes, deliver the same jolt for women's MMA that "TUF" produced for the sport as a whole.
Fabricio Werdum Off Strikeforce Card
Fabricio Werdum will have to wait a little longer to make his Strikeforce debut. The Brazilian heavyweight, who was supposed to face Alistair Overeem for the Strikeforce heavyweight title on August 15 before Overeem pulled out of the fight due to a hand injury, will not be fighting on the upcoming card against a replacement opponent.
Strikeforce director of communications, Mike Afromowitz, confirmed the news with FanHouse on Monday.

If Tyson Griffin takes another Fight Of The Night award, and he's got a good chance of it against Hermes Franca at UFC 103, the PPV crowd may not see it. Despite Griffin being 5-1 in his last 6 fights with 5 FOTN awards in 8 UFC fights, the fight has been demoted from PPV to prelim, leaving 5 cards on the PPV part of the card.

Is BJ Penn's Legacy on the Line at UFC 101?
At UFC 101 BJ Penn finally gets to answer all the questions. Is he really the best lightweight in the world, or is he overrated? Fans have started questioning the strength of his wins at 155, starting with the win over Jens Pulver. Pulver's gone on such a bad losing streak that the win isn't impressive in retrospect. He got a nice win over Joe Stevenson, but Stevenson went on to suffer a first round loss to Kenny Florian and a decision to Diego Sanchez. His win over Sherk looked impressive until Frankie Edgar easily outboxed Sherk.
Akihiro Gono Expected to Make Full Recovery After Dan Hornbuckle KO Kick
Japanese MMA fighter Akihiro Gono is expected to make a complete recovery after suffering head and neck injuries when he was knocked out by a brutal head kick from Dan Hornbuckle Sunday.
Hornbuckle's kick was one of the MMA knockouts of the year, a kick that Hornbuckle set up perfectly by grabbing Gono's right foot, planting his own left foot and then driving his right shin into Gono's chin. Gono fell like a chopped down tree, with his neck landing on the rope and his head hitting the canvas.
