(mmajunkie.com)
Intresting read. I already know it's posted that he's accepted the fight. But, this also talks about Marcus being seriously injured before the Mike Swick fight.

Tim Credeur vs. Cale Yarbrough a late addition to July 19 UFC event
(mmajunkie.com)
A fight between "The Ultimate Fighter: Team Rampage vs. Team Forrest" cast members Tim Credeur (9-2 MMA, 0-0 UFC) and Cale Yarbrough (0-0 MMA, 0-0 UFC) that was originally scheduled for the show's live finale on June 21 will instead take place next week at UFC Fight Night 14. The original match-up was scratched just hours before the event when Credeur failed a drug test due to his prescription for Adderall. But today he exclusively told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) that he has passed a preliminary drug test and that the fight has been green lit for UFC Fight Night 14.

A Silva never intended to fight at 205 lbs
(punch.freedomblogging.com)
From OC Register interview with Anderson Silva: On if his plan is to hold the middleweight and light-heavyweight belts at the same time: “My goal is to keep my middleweight title and it has been proven that the light-heavyweight title belongs to Lyoto (Machida). “We’re not only friends, but we are teammates and Lyoto has done everything he can to prove that he deserves that title.” On whose idea it was to fight at 205 pounds: “This was brought up by Dana White. I was in Hawaii with one of my teammates, Rafael Feijao, who was fighting in EliteXC. I got a phone call from my manager saying that Dana wanted me to do this fight on July 19. We were a little worried at first because we had to cut the training in half, but we were up for the challenge.” On whether he had entertained the possibility of fighting at 205 before White made the request: “No, I wasn’t planning on fighting at 205, but it came as a challenge and we are ready to test our skills.” Check out the entire interview here:

Exclusive Interview: Lyoto Machida
(cagepotato.com)
After Lyoto Machida scored the biggest win of his undefeated career by out-pointing Tito Ortiz to a unanimous decision at UFC 84, he immediately became the subject of intense debate in the MMA community. While his fans praise his impenetrable defense and technically perfect counter-attacks, there are others who find his stick-and-move style to be boring — or worse, cowardly. Our resident Brazilian Luiz de Souza called Machida at his home base in Belém, Brazil, to get his take on the criticism, and to find out where he thinks he stands in the UFC’s light-heavyweight title picture CagePotato: Thanks so much for taking the time to speak with us today. Do you have any idea who your next opponent will be? There’s been a lot of speculation, but there’s no confirmation of anything yet. But I think it could be Thiago Silva, or even Quinton Jackson. We’ve heard that multiple fighters have turned down fights with you. Why do you think people are trying to avoid you? It’s like I said in other interviews, this is a business, and so many times people don’t want to fight, not because they are scared, but because they want to get to the top quicker. Many times, fighters have better opportunities of getting higher-ranked in other fights, which makes them choose their fights sparingly, not accepting all challenges. It’s not a matter of being scared.

Michael Bisping out for a ’stand up brawl’ with Chris Leben
(mmamania.com)
“I want to go out and show my skills, my last fight hit the ground too much – he (Jason Day) gave me the opportunity to take him down, and he couldn’t handle the ground-and-pound…. Your next fight is always your biggest fight, you’re only as good as your last fight, so yeah this is the biggest fight of my life. I’m not gonna go more cautious because it’s Chris Leben. I’ll do what I normally do, look to stand on the feet and set the pace. It’s the same in every fight, you assess the situation, play it by ear, punches get thrown –- and hopefully we’ll get the stand-up brawl we all want.”

Paul Daley: My Battle With Cage Rage & Pro Elite
(fightersonlymagazine.co.uk)
In an exclusive interview ahead of his fight on Saturday night, Paul Daley revealed to Fighters Only that he has more than just his upcoming bout with Bojan 'Zelva' Kosednar on his mind. "I've got a few things I want to get out in the air with regards to Pro Elite, Cage Rage and the future," he said. "I've got no contract with Cage Rage, my contract stands with Pro Elite. My fight with Cage Warriors seems to be a problem with the guys at Pro Elite." Rival UK promotions Cage Rage and Cage Warriors are going head-to-head on Saturday night, holding events in London and Nottingham respectively. Daley agreed to fight in his home city of Nottingham months ago, citing complete approval from Pro Elite executives when he told them of his plans to fight. Since then, he claims Pro Elite have changed their stance on his headlining bout.

Paul Kelly Vs Marcus Davis At UFC 89
(fightersonlymagazine.co.uk)
Wolfslair product Paul Kelly may be fighting Marcus Davis at UFC 89 in October, Fighters Only has been told. Sources close to the fight have indicated that contracts are being drawn up for the fight, although nothing has as yet been signed. Kelly made his UFC debut in January when he fought fellow Briton Paul Taylor on the undercard of UFC 80. The pair won the Fight of the Night bonus for their three-round war, which the UFC screened on the pay-per-view broadcast despite it being originally scheduled as part of the non-televised undercard. SERIOUSLY MARCUS. FIGHT IN A DIFFERENT COUNTRY FOR ONCE!

Irvin faces long odds against Silva

This is a great article that really made me a fan of the way James Irvin approaches the sport. I don't agree with his logic at the end, but he is totally honest and it's a refreshing view from a fighter.

EliteXC retools Gary Shaw's role
(mmajunkie.com)
Gary Shaw's future with EliteXC will involve a lot less camera time. The omnipresent Shaw has been front and center with everything EliteXC since its first show last year. For the time being, though, those days are over as Shaw dials down his front man's role with the promotion.

The Highly Unofficial Half-Year UFC Awards - The Fights
(ufc.com)
"Well, at least the best UFC fight of 2008 thus far was an easy call. The rest of the top five (or in this case, top six) was a little tougher, as there were plenty of action-packed and drama-filled bouts that could have easily fit in among the best of the first-half. Here’s to a second half of 2008 that’s just as exciting."
