Dan Lauzon Wins Again At WCF
(mmaweekly.com)
WILMINGTON, Mass.- The young guns came out to put on a show on Friday night at The Shriners Auditorium. UFC veteran Dan Lauzon was dominant in his performance against Brendan Hoxie. Then, in the main event of the night, Sityodtong fighter, Mike Campbell proved to everyone why the hype surrounding him was greatly deserved. Lauzon came out looking focused and ready to go in a bout many would deem fight of the night. Right off the bat, he came out and threw a spin to a leaping high kick that connected flush on Hoxie’s jaw, dropping him to his knees. Lauzon tried to finish, but his opponent stayed active from his back and avoided punishment. Lauzon motioned for him to stand up and dropped him again shortly after with a crisp punch combination, but still could not finish him on the ground. The rest of the round seemed to go the same as Lauzon dropped Hoxie once more with a punch before the round ended.

Nate Marquardt still confused by lost points
(mmajunkie.com)
Two weeks after a controversial decision loss to Thales Leites at UFC 85, middleweight contender Nate Marquardt (26-8-2 MMA, 5-2 UFC) is still at odds over Herb Dean's decision to deduct a costly point due to elbow strikes the veteran referee deemed illegal. Marquardt reflected on the exciting bout while a recent guest on TAGG Radio (www.taggradio.com), the official radio partner of MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com). "I think Herb really couldn't get the angle from where he was at," Marquardt said. "He didn't really see where the shots were landing. And to be honest, when he stood me up, he said 'I warned you about the elbow,' but he never told me he was taking a point away. To be honest, at the end of the fight, I thought I only had one point taken away (from an earlier illegal knee). I didn't know about the second point."

TUF 7 Finale: Dustin Hazelett awarded bonuses for “Fight of the Night” and “Submission of the Night”
(fiveouncesofpain.com)
Las Vegas, Nevada – Amir Sadollah may have earned the title of the winner for the seventh season of “The Ultimate Fighter,” but it was Dustin Hazelett who perhaps is walking out of the TUF 7 live season finale as the event’s biggest winner. Hazelett, a member of Team Jorge Gurgel in Ohio, fought Josh Burkman during a non-televised portion of the fight. Despite giving up noticeable strength to Burkman, Hazelett still walked away the victor after executing an armbar following a whizzer.

Reason Why Tim/Cale fight was scrapped
(mmajunkie.com)
Just minutes before Tim Credeur was set to face fellow cast member Cale Yarbrough at the live finale for "The Ultimate Fighter: Team Rampage vs. Team Forrest," the bout was pulled from the fight card. Although the move was met with initial confusion, the UFC confirmed midway through the event that Credeur had tested positive for Adderall, a psychostimulant traditionally prescribed to treat attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder and narcolepsy.. Note that Credeur faces no disciplinary action because he alerted officials of the drug beforehand.

Diaz/Sakurai fight off
(graciefighter.com)
Nick Diaz will not be fighting Mach Sakurai. At least not in the July Dream card, as EliteXC has decided to not let him fight due to "contractual obligations'. Apparently EliteXC has other plans for Diaz and the July date might conflict with their plans.

Time for UFC to get tough on TUF
(sports.yahoo.com)
I suppose if I was between the ages of 18 and 34, I’d find Jesse Taylor’s antics hilarious. I’d find the fact that he got drunk out of his mind, kicked a window out of a limousine, harassed several women, antagonized customers trying to enjoy their leisure time and blatantly challenged security guards’ authority to protect their property a laugh-a-minute riot. Instead, I find it repellant, just as I found it revolting during another episode of “The Ultimate Fighter” on Spike TV when a once-again drunken Taylor urinated onto the carpet of someone else’s home. If this is great TV, then you can count me out for Seasons 8 and beyond. At least UFC president Dana White did the right thing by booting Taylor from his position opposite Amir Sadollah in Saturday’s finale at The Pearl at The Palms in Las Vegas. The bigger picture is being overlooked in all of this, however. Taylor’s drunken buffoonery might have helped Spike earn a bigger rating, both for Wednesday’s heavily hyped episode as well for Saturday’s finale, now between Sadollah and the man he beat in the semifinals, pre-tournament favorite C.B. Dollaway. But at what cost did Spike land those ratings? This isn’t the first time one of the competitors on “The Ultimate Fighter” got drunk and rowdy. Most often, it’s harmless. Producers of the show tacitly encourage the fighters with a wink and a nod to destroy the house. And each season on the show, you know it’s coming as sure as sunrise. What if one of those drunken fighters fell down that tall staircase in the home where the show is taped while horsing around with one of his castmates and banged his head on the floor? And just what if the effects of that fighter banging his head turned out to be a little more serious than a bump or a mild concussion?

Tara LaRosa discusses record contract, Gina Carano
(mmajunkie.com)
LEXINGTON, KY. -- It seemed that no sooner than the ink had dried on the American Fight League's contract with female MMA superstar Tara LaRosa (15-1) that rumors began to spread throughout the MMA community of a half-million-dollar price tag. LaRosa told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) on Thursday that sum wasn't exactly true -- it could actually be worth more. "I stand to make between 500,000 and 750,000 (dollars) depending on my performance and how I do with all of my fights," said LaRosa, now the sport's highest-paid female fighter.

Burkman Looking To Get Back To The KO
(mmaweekly.com)
Josh Burkman’s last fight with Mike Swick did not go the way he was hoping it would go. Burkman, who is known for his good wrestling ability and pressure, came out on the losing end of what ended up being a fairly lackluster bout. He was unhappy with his performance even though he believes he won the fight. However, “The People’s Warrior” decided it was time for a change and moved out to Las Vegas to join Xtreme Couture.

Baroni Moving To Welterweight At Cage Rage 27 ?
(mmaweekly.com)
It appears Phil Baroni will be looking to bounce back from consecutive losses on July 12 at Cage Rage 27 “Step Up” against an opponent to be determined. Cage Rage promoter Dave O’Donnell revealed to MMAWeekly.com that EliteXC has granted a path to the U.K. as means of getting the New York brawler back on track and to provide some much needed international star power for the upcoming card. “Baroni will be fighting on the July 12 show,” revealed O’Donnell, adding, “but I can’t release the name of his opponent yet. He will be a British guy and it will make for an exciting fight, as we all know how Baroni likes to go about things. We are talking to a few people now, but until contracts are signed, I won’t be mentioning any names.” According to Baroni’s manager, Ken Pavia, they are deep into negotiations with Cage Rage for the bout and a deal appears likely, but it has yet to be finalized.

Ken Shamrock Next Up For Frank Shamrock
(fightline.com)
Frank Shamrock on his next opponent: "My goal for my next fight is to fight Ken, to fight my brother Ken, to have a brother versus brother match. I think that's a huge fight that everybody gets–easy to understand. You could use it as a huge promotional vehicle because it's got such a great hook in it, and I think it's just a huge fight, so I've been working hard on that one. First quarter of next year, I'll get it done."

UFC 88 in Atlanta (Will the fans fill the stadium?)
(mmapayout.com)
Tickets go on sale tomorrow for UFC 88 in Atlanta. It is UFC’s first show in the market, and features UFC’s top draw in Chuck Liddell. Those signs point to a strong gate, and indeed the show may do well. However, one thing to keep in mind in advance is that Atlanta may be the worst sports town in the United States. Despite having the 9th largest metropolitan area in the United States, no Atlanta team has drawn the 9th or better attendance in any sport in the past five years.
