WIUFF HONORS FALLEN EILERS WITH TITLE WIN
In the short career of a fighter every fight is important, title fights even more so, but for former UFC and Pride fighter Travis “Diesel” Wiuff his recent IFC heavyweight title win on Aug. 15 in Canada had significance for a whole other reason.
As Wiuff explained to MMAWeekly.com, having the chance to honor a fallen friend by following in his championship footsteps made the fight all that more important.
Used to fighting for UFC life, UFC 102's Ed Herman now fighting for family
Among fighters, some superstitions are nearly universal.
Never overlook a current opponent to talk about the next one.
There is no such thing as a guaranteed victory.
Three losses in a row can kill your career.
Ed Herman knows the latter all too well. "Short Fuse" has been on the brink twice in his UFC career. Herman now faces undefeated Aaron Simpson at UFC 102 on Saturday in Portland, Ore.
Demian Maia: Anderson Was Talking Some Bulls**t
- Maia is going to have no problem with the weight cut.
- Maia is more worried about Marquardt's technique than his strength. He says Marquardt is a worthy opponent on the ground.
- Winner should get a title shot by the end of 2009.
- Anderson Silva was "talking some bullshit" in Brazil about Maia because he felt Maia challenged him when Maia asked for a title shot after his last victory.
- Anderson Silva didn't used to be that way, but he is now cocky and Maia felt that he has changed. Anderson does not accept critics anymore.

Fedor Emelianenko: I Have Nothing to Prove Against Brett Rogers
Strikeforce announced on Wednesday that Fedor Emelianenko will make his debut for the organization later this fall against Brett Rogers. Of all the possible bouts available for Emelianenko, this appears to be the one the fans wanted to see most.
FanHouse spoke to Emelianenko at the public workout in New York City about fighting Rogers and his thoughts on whether he is truly dodging the top heavyweights in the UFC. Check out the full video interview below.
Couture vs. Nogueira Likely For Next Title Shot
At least according to Randy Couture. When asked Wednesday about the winner of his Saturday fight with Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira possibly being next in line for the Brock Lesnar-Shane Carwin winner, Couture said "That's been tossed around". Couture still hasn't ruled out moving back to 205, where one interesting possible fight is Anderson Silva.
Muhsin Corbbrey: “The Grind” Is a Gift
Mushin's quote and the reason I posted this article:
“I want to win a major Muay Thai title in Thailand at a stadium, I want to get a WEC belt and I want to have a boxing title,” the three-sport pro said flatly, without a hint of braggadocio. “I think it’s definitely feasible for me. I have the skills and ability to do it, I just have to do it.”

New York Times Looks at NFL Players Coming to MMA
Next month, the UFC and Spike TV will unveil its newest edition of The Ultimate Fighter. Because of the presence of former internet phenom Kimbo Slice, it is expected to be the highest-rated of the show's 10-season run. But for the sport's long-term growth, the more important element could be the inclusion of four former NFL players.
Donald Cerrone Talks Jamie Varner, The TapouT House, More
On The TapouT House: "We have the TapouT house going right now. The house we're in is five bedrooms, so there's plenty of room. But the house that I'm buying has an actual casita on it, which is two bedrooms with a giant living area, kitchen, washroom, laundry, everything for the guys to come out. So it's actually their own private house."
On His Goals With The TapouT House: "We're hoping they can come down and see what it's like to train with a world-class team, see what it's like to train alongside with me while I'm training for a title fight. Leonard is fighting in the WEC as well, so see what it's like to live and train in the everyday life of what we do – maybe open their eyes to say, 'This is what I'm doing wrong,' or 'This is what I need to do right,' or 'They're doing everything wrong, and I do it better on my own.' (We're) just trying to get people to come down, and hopefully Greg will be like, 'Yeah, I like this guy. Why don't you stick around and join the team?'"

Gabriel Gonzaga looking to add a little excitement to his game
Gabriel Gonzaga’s most famous UFC moment came when his stunning high kick knocked out Mirko "Crocop" Filipovic in the first round of their bout at UFC 70.
While a lot has changed for the 30-year-old Brazilian since that April night in 2007 in Manchester, England, Gonzaga believes he’s got plenty of big moments left in him and hopes to show off the first one against Chris Tuchscherer Saturday night at UFC 102 in Portland, Ore.

Light's agent, Ken Pavia, confirmed the news with FanHouse on Tuesday. The event airs live on Showtime from the SpiritBank Event Center in Bixby, Okla.
Woodley is one of the up-and-coming fighters in the Strikeforce 170-pound division. He defeated Sal Woods via first-round Brabo choke submission in his Strikeforce debut on the undercard of the Jake Shields vs. Robbie Lawler event in June (video above).
Demian Maia Hopes to Make Memorable Impression With UFC 102 Effort
Undefeated UFC middleweight Demian Maia has made it clear his gameplan going into Saturday's UFC 102 fight against Nate Marquardt is to take his opponent down and submit him. And although Marquardt is comfortable on the ground, it's on his feet where he holds a significant advantage.
Still, if you ask Maia, he does not consider this fight a classic striker vs. grappler matchup.
NOGUEIRA MAKES A MOVE PREPARING FOR COUTURE
With all the talk about the punishment that Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira has taken over the course his career, you’d think that he was the elder man entering his main event bout with Randy Couture at this Saturday’s UFC 102 in Portland, Ore.
At 33 years of age, he is actually 13 years the junior to Couture. But he knows that following a disappointing loss at the hands of Frank Mir at UFC 92 – the first time the Brazilian has been stopped in his 37-fight career – the questions abound about him.
KENNY FLORIAN PLANS ON FIGHTING AGAIN THIS YEAR
Fresh off a loss to B.J. Penn at UFC 101 in Philadelphia on Aug. 8, Kenny Florian wants to be more active and expects to fight again in 2009.
"I am going to fight before 2010. There's no doubt about it," he told MMAWeekly.com. "I have to get a fight in. I think it will happen and hopefully against someone tough."
