Has Lindland found a home?
According to Denis Kang in an article by The Fight Network, the word making the rounds is that former UFC middleweight Matt Lindland is on the verge of signing with Japanese-based promotion DREAM, a collaboration between FEG and former staff members of PRIDE. All I have to say is that would be one sick ass tourney!
Buenetello Calls Out Kimbo
On a radio show Monday night, Paul Buenetello not only confirmed his appearance on the 3/29 Strikeforce/EliteXC event, but said that after that fight he wants Kevin "Kimbo Slice" Ferguson as his next opponent.
Silva To Middleweight This Year?
Although nothing is official yet, there are now rumors that Wanderlei Silva is considering dropping to Middleweight, fueled largely by the desire for a rematch with PRIDE Welterweight Champion Dan Henderson, the man who beat Wanderlei in their final PRIDE fight. Such a move likely wouldn't happen before May.

For the second time in six months, the stage is set to definitively answer one of the fundamental questions burning in the collective minds of middleweight fight fans worldwide: who is the real champion? At UFC 82, reigning UFC 185-lb champion Anderson Silva will face reigning PRIDE 183-lb champion Dan Henderson to end the debate, at least for now, as to who is the unchallenged ruler of the mixed martial arts middleweight kingdom. Silva is on the verge of the most successful middleweight championship run in UFC history. His March 1 unification fight will be the third defense of his title. If successful, he will break his current tie with former champion Rich Franklin and set a new standard against which all future middleweight champions will be measured. Henderson is the only 183-lb champion that PRIDE has ever known, winning the title by defeating Murilo Bustamante at PRIDE Shockwave 2005. Two years later, Hendo shocked the word by savagely knocking out then-205-lb champion Wanderlei Silva to become the only simultaneous two-division champion that the sport has ever known.
Report: UFC 81 Registers 650,000 PPV “Buys”
UFC 81 event that took place earlier this month and featured Brock Lesnar’s highly marketed UFC debut has registered approximately 650,000 pay-per-view “buys,” according to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer. Just prior to UFC 81, the UFC increased the price of its stand-definition pay-per-view broadcasts from $39.95 to $44.95. Although a small number of additional buys will trickle in (cable systems have a taped version of the broadcast available for purchase), Meltzer reports that the event will be third-highest-grossing event in UFC history — behind only December 2006’s UFC 66 event (Chuck Liddell vs. Tito Ortiz II) and July 2006’s UFC 61 event (Tito Ortiz vs. Ken Shamrock II).
Arnold Classic Officially Adds Amateur MMA
The Arnold Classic, taking place in Columbus, Ohio from Feb. 29 through March 2, celebrates many forms of fitness and martial arts. This year will mark the debut of mixed martial arts at the expo, as an amateur event will take place and champions in multiple weight classes will be crowned. Celebrating its 20th year anniversary, the Arnold Classic has always been a home to martial arts and with the growth of MMA throughout the world the amateur tournament this year is nothing short of historical. Legendary martial artist Terrance “Tokey” Hill, who organizes and leads the charge for the martial arts portion of the Arnold Classic, lobbied to have MMA included in this year’s event and now it is a reality. The event will run alongside many traditional martial arts programs at the Arnold Classic including Tae Kwon Do, Judo, Jiu-Jitsu, and San Shou. MMA will debut with an eight-man tournament represented by fighters and teams from across the world.

Matt Lindland says UFC will not negotiate a deal with him
mmajunkie.com has the whole story but this is the short version. Matt Lindland says that he told the UFC to make him an offer and they could start to mesh out a deal from there. Dana didn't respond, he had matchmaker Joe Silva tell him that they would not be making any offer to fight. The UFC claims it has to do with Lindland wearing a sponsors logo to the weigh in of his last fight against Joe Doerksen that he was told not to wear. This lead to his dismissile from the company 2 days later. Lindland now is dealing with issues with Bodog Fight. They are apparently not holding up to there end of their deal which Matt still has 2 fights left on.

Boetsch Talks Hamill and New Deal with UFC
Stepping up on short notice is sure to be the calling card for Ultimate Fighting Championship light heavyweight Tim Boetsch, who will again stand in for an injured fighter as he takes on Matt Hamill at UFC Fight Night on April 2 in Broomfield, Colo. Though he is replacing Stephan Bonnar, the Pennsylvania-based fighter is looking forward to having more time to get ready for his return to the Octagon. “I’m trying to figure out what to do with all the time,” said Boetsch with a laugh about having more time to prepare for this fight than his last time out. It seems UFC matchmaker Joe Silva has the fighter’s number on speed dial, as this is the second time he will step up for the promotion and Boetsch is fine with that arrangement. “I’ll be ready to fight whenever and wherever they need me,” he stated. “Somebody gets hurt or drops out, I think my name’s close to the top of the list of people they want to call.”

'Street Certified' Now Weight Certified
Neither Kimbo Slice nor Tank Abbott went street Friday evening. The brawling heavyweights, who headline Saturday's Showtime-televised EliteXC card from the United Bank Center on the campus of the University of Miami, joined 20 other fighters in making weight at a local Holiday Inn. All remained quiet on the 305 front as Abbott momentarily locked eyes with Slice, the controversial Internet fighting sensation who has recently moved onto regulated mixed martial arts competition, before turning with a fist raised towards the small group gathered pool-side. Slice stepped on the scale a ripped 234 pounds. Abbott, carrying his customary frame, approached the heavyweight division's limit at 263 pounds.
Silva has XXXXL expectations
Antonio Silva was making the point that he feels quicker and more athletic when he's small. But to Silva, small is a relative term. Because at 6 feet, 4 inches, 260 pounds with a size-16 shoe and fists the size of ham hocks, Silva's small is most folks' XXXXL. And there aren't as many guys of his size and his thickness who are able to do a cartwheel, as Silva is able to do. He tried one after a recent fight as a promise to his daughter, Anne, and it turned out to be a miserable failure. He's about the size of 2½ gymnasts combined, but defending his less-than-artistic success by pointing out that "people were coming into the ring to congratulate me and I was trying to get it done too fast before I would hit anyone." It may be promoter Gary Shaw who does a cartwheel tonight – or at least thinks of doing one – if Silva is able to impressively defeat Ricco Rodriguez on a Showtime-televised Elite XC card at the BankUnited Center in Coral Gables, Fla.
Melvin Guillard to Headline Rage in the Cage 105
Melvin Guillard (20-7-2 MMA, 3-3 UFC), a cast member from “The Ultimate Fighter 2” who recently suffered back-to-back losses in high-profile UFC fights, is temporarily leaving the UFC to headline next month’s Rage in the Cage event against Eric Regan (9-7 MMA, 0-0 UFC). The event, RITC 105, takes place March 7 at the Celebrity Theatre in Phoenix, Ariz.
More words from Cro Cop
On the UFC Fighting in the cage just didn't feel good. The real problem was in me, not in the UFC or the cage. That wasn't who I am and I will return one day to fight in the cage. I owe this to all of my fans and especially my UK fans. On Dana White I can perfectly understand a decreased interest in me after my bad performances. It's just business and you can't blame the UFC or Mr. White for putting me aside. I can only say that Mr. White acted very professional and I had no problem in getting released from my UFC contract. I also hope that we'll always respect each other and perhaps work together in the future. On Dream and the contract My dream has come true, I'll fight in Japan again. I've signed a three fight contract with a possibility of extension. It's where I had some memorable moments, where I feel at home. DREAM is a new organization with a good management and huge potential. Japan is a big market and these guys know how to bring something to a high level. I'll do my best to help them on that way. On title fights Yes, there were some talk of me being involved in a first DREAM heavyweight title fight. I'm welcoming this opportunity and I'm willing to fight anyone they put me against. I feel reborn and I'll be on a quest for the most anticipated titles in the world. On possible Cro Cop vs Fedor II The moment our first fight finished I wanted to fight him again. He's a brilliant fighter and it would be a honor to fight him again. This fight is really a nice thought, but I'll take one step at a time and we'll see what happens. On problems and defeats The losses came from a lack of motivation. I was really empty, I had no fire left in me. It's something that is probably the worst scenario for a professional fighter. What was left for me was to give a serious thought about if I had anything left in me. Now I feel different, but you just can't bring the time back. Hopefully I'll have my chance to fight against these fighters again. I have been having major problems getting onto the site to read his blogs, they are so overwhelmed with people it's eating the bandwidth, so I posted what he said so if you guys are having problems you don't have to wait 8 hours. I hope everyone can be as respectful as Cro Cop always is when discussing his words.
