James Irvin aiming for UFC return in March
Injuries and a suspension kept James Irvin out of action for all of 2009, but the heavy handed striker is looking to finally make his middleweight debut as he returns to action in the UFC this March. Since losing by knockout to middleweight champion Anderson Silva in a 205-pound contest, Irvin has been looking to make the move to 185 pounds, but several knee injuries kept him sidelined. He was scheduled to face Drew McFedries at UFC 98 before suffering a meniscus tear, and then a re-aggravation of that injury kept him out of his UFC 102 fight against Wilson Gouveia as well.

Strikeforce Won't Be Risking Bobby Lashley Against Shane del Rosario
Zach Krantz is disappointed that Bobby Lashley won't be making his Strikeforce debut against up and comer Shane del Rosario: When this fight was first reported I credited Strikeforce for putting together solid fight where they had a lot to gain and something to lose as well. It was a risky endeavor as they were facing off a marketing tool (Lashley) against a legitimate opponent. If it is Strikeforce that pulled this fight off the table then it perpetuates what many people already believe. The common critique of Strikeforce and many of their shows is they cake walk their top fighters with weak competition and the reason fans are provided with exciting finishes is due to lack of competitiveness if the cage. The other possibility is Lashley's camp agreed to the fight not knowing who Rosario was and after further insight they realized it might be too risky for Bobby at this point in his career.

Kyle Bradley and The Art of The 63 Second Turnaround
Two UFC fights. Two losses. Kyle Bradley was well aware what was at stake when he stepped into the Octagon for fight number three against Phillipe Nover at UFC 98 last May. “In the UFC, if you’re not winning, you’re on the way out, no matter what,” said Bradley, whose back-to-back losses to Chris Lytle and Joe Lauzon had him in a must-win situation against Brooklyn’s Nover. But surprisingly, Bradley wasn’t staying up nights worrying, trying to figure out what to do should he lose three in a row. The Louisiana native had just one goal in mind, and it wasn’t necessarily winning, though that would be nice too.

Is Rashad Evans too fast for 'Rampage' Jackson?
Coach Greg Jackson seems to think so... "...Quinton has some very good assets including punching power, his wrestling is good. But where Rashad's (strength) really lies is speed. And Rashad is so amazingly quick, and it's one of those things where he looks quick but when he really gets going he's really fast. It's hard to keep track of where he is. Speed, among other things, is going to play a large factor in this fight coming up."

Another Machida Unfurls MMA Plans
Is there room inside the Octagon for more than one Machida? UFC light heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida believes so. Shinzo Machida may lack his younger brother’s mixed martial arts credentials, but he remains the only Brazilian to finish as high as second in the World Shotokan Karate Championships, having done so in Japan back in 2006. The 32-year-old, still the number one Shotokan fighter in Brazil, has won countless South American, Brazilian and Pan American competitions. Shinzo also has two MMA appearances under his belt, both under the Jungle Fight banner, but has not competed since he submitted to a Bryan Rafiq guillotine choke nearly four years ago. With an aggressive style that impressed Amazon fans who witnessed his MMA fights, he has designs on a return.

Wrestling Canada Officials Understand Challenge Facing GSP
Wrestling Canada officials are intrigued by Georges St-Pierre's interest in wrestling at the Olympics but, like the mixed martial arts star himself, are tempering their enthusiasm with a dose of realism. The 28-year-old UFC welterweight champion from Montreal says he is mulling over giving up his title and walking away from MMA to spend 18 months devoting himself to making a run at the 2012 Games in London. Canadian wrestling coach Dave McKay, a two-time Olympian who finished fifth at the 1988 Olympics, has never met St-Pierre or seen him wrestle. But he is no stranger to MMA and speaks highly of his skills.

Daley Says Hazelett KO Tailor Made For Him
On paper Paul Daley vs. Dustin Hazelett was supposed to be striker against grappler, but when the fight started the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu ace stood in front of his British counterpart ready to throw hands. That game plan didn't pay off.Daley unloaded a huge left hook that put Hazelett down and out for good in the first round, handing the confident Brit his second UFC win in as many fights. Happy with another knockout, even Daley was a little confused when trying to figure out what his opponent's plan was in the fight.

In an exclusive story, published on this month's TATAME Magazine, Mousasi talked about how he started on fights, since the amateur boxing to MMA rings until his relation with Fedor Emelianenko.

Brown focused on Morrison, then title shot
It didn't take long for the feeling of a loss to sink in before former WEC featherweight champion Mike Brown was making the call to get back in the cage. As a matter of fact, it was the very next day. Brown, who lost his 145-pound title to Jose Aldo in November, was quick to pull the trigger and ask for another fight to get the bad taste out of his mouth.
