Tony Ferguson vs. Anthony Pettis in the works for UFC 229   [View Full Version]

On a night in which the UFC lightweight championship will be decided in what could be the biggest event in UFC history, two other competitors who have held versions of 155-pound gold look highly likely to throw down.


A matchup between former UFC interim lightweight champion Tony Ferguson and former UFC and WEC lightweight titleholder Anthony Pettis is in the works for UFC 229 in Las Vegas on Oct. 6. MMA Fighting confirmed an initial Thursday night report by MMA Junkie.

Sounds about the right opponent for Ferguson to come back to. This one should be interesting as Pettis is showing a bit of a resurgence of late and his ground game in my opinion is one of the sneakiest at 155.

Interesting matchup based on where they are in their lw runs.

I thought he was going to wait for the winner of Conor vs Khabib.

I like the Ferguson vs Pettis match up but Ferguson should have been kept as an alternate for the Khabib vs Conor fight in case one of them gets injured.
