Posted 8/10/11 1:23:00AM A heavyweight matchup between Alistair Overeem (37-13 MMA, 2-2 UFC) and Ben Rothwell (33-9 MMA, 3-3 UFC) is the latest addition to September’s UFC Fight Night 50 event. MMAjunkie confirmed the booking following an initial report from FOXSports.com. UFC Fight Night 50 takes place Sept. 5 at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Ledyard, Conn. It’s a rare Friday night show for the UFC – and falls on the same night as Bellator 123 in nearby Uncasville, less than 10 miles away. The bulk of the UFC Fight Night 50 card is expected to air on FOX Sports 1 following a few prelims on UFC Fight Pass. LINK |

Posted 5/22/07 7:05:00PM Well Overeem couldn't ask for a better match up stylistically imo. Get him back in the mix |

Posted 8/10/11 1:23:00AM It'll be really tough for The Reem if he loses this one. With the UFC lacking stars now adays, it wouldn't surprise me if they slowly build Alistair up now because he is definitely a guy who will put butts in seats. Also a little surprised they didn't put this on the PPV card but I'm not complaining, get to see The Reem score a highlight reel KO for free ![]() |

Posted 3/8/08 5:44:00PM I would be tempted to bet Rothwell for the right price. Big Ben, solid chin, heavy hands vs pillow fisted Reem, keeps his hands low enough to protect a low blow, and has a chin built like a wine glass....hmm head vs wall how does that usually end. |

Posted 6/6/12 1:54:00PM I just got a text that Arlovski vs Bigfoot will headline a Fight Night here in the near future. _______________________________________ |

Posted 9/22/08 2:18:00AM Definitely a winnable fight for Overeem, the UFC is trying to save him and get a little win streak goin for him. I would love to see Arlovski and Overeem both win their next fights and then square off against one another. The would both have 2 fight win streaks in the UFC and both are really well known to both the hardcore and casual fan....would definitely do good numbers, imo. |

Posted 1/27/12 10:34:00PM I'd take rothwell all day. He's a huge hw, strong chin and super tough. Overeem would probably get a few shots in early but I think rothwell would finish. |

Posted 2/22/08 6:29:00PM Rothwell can club Overeem down in potentially similar fashion that Bigfoot did or catch him like Browne did, but Rothwell is a step behind both of those guys and has turned in some truly crap performances in recent years. Overeem should destroy him, probably will weather he wins or loses. |
