Huge props to Silva

That is one hell of an acomplishment

Very impressive.

I also found it strangely odd that some of the commentators leading up to his last fight was talking about how hot and cold Silva has been. I mean give me a break, he was 3-3 going into last nights fight but he could have easily been 5-1. He was starting to pour it on DHK before DHK landed that finishing shot and the Prater fight was a DQ. Silva was ruining Prater.

The first of his heel kicks was actually illegal, and while he's insanely impressive when you match him up with guys who have no business in the UFC, he's been less than impressive when he's faced anyone above the middle of the division.

Really fun to watch, but he's got to start beating competition when he isn't a 14 to 1 favorite.

Like JLS said, he was handling DHK before he forgot about head movement. I think you're among the majority on being skeptical of Silva at this point, but I am on the other side. It's blatantly obvious that Silva has scary talent IMO and improves in different ways every time out. Once he puts it all together, which I think he's very very close to doing, he will be top 5 in the division for a long time.

I think he needs a way to incorporate some new training regimes to take him to that next level.

those jumping heel kicks were pretty nifty

Erick Silva ain't no joke. Just needs more experience.

Guy beat a no name basically and still ultimately lost to DHK

if we determined how good fighters are based how they did in a losing effort the rankings and what not would be all fucked up

Which is why Fedor is still the GOAT, right?

That's really not his fault that he beat a no name opponent in Sato. That would be the folks in charge of trying to expand the UFC roster beyond belief.

I actually picked DHK over Silva when they fault but if there was a rematch I'd take Silva without hesitation.

Like I said he could very easily be 6-1 in the UFC and if he would have beat DHK most peoples opinion on him would be a lot different. There was a reason he was a 12-1 favorite over Sato. Dude is a beast. And if DHK would've lost that fight not nearly as many people would be taking DHK over Hathaway. I think DHK is something like a 90% consensus over Hathaway. I'll be picking Silva in his next fight too. There's only a small number of guys that I think can take him in the UFC's Welterweight Division.

I'd like Erik Silva to get matched up against a Matt Brown or Mike Pyle next. I think Silva would finish either one of those guys.

Yeah, I noticed that too. He's gotta be careful of stuff like that or he could fall to another DQ.

I'm not skeptical of Silva at all, in fact I agree that he'll be one of the best in the division soon enough.

I just think celebrating a guy for not getting hit in a fight when he's literally the biggest betting odd favorite in the history of the company is a little ridiculous, he's not supposed to get hit in a mismatch like that.

He's an awesome fighter but if his reputation was being earned by decimating good fighters like Jon Jones did on his way up it would be far more impressive

And I'm guessing you think Silva is the GOAT ay?

Hard to argue with Fedor's winning streak, and the way he beat the guys he did. Pretty much dominatiom from start to finish.

And not only that, he never disrespected anybody and was always the most humble.

unlike someone who just recently broke his leg across the current champs knee
