According to the Fight Network Ken Shamrock is coming out of retirement to face Bisping at UFC 75. This is a lot more interesting than Matt Hamil.

lol it's not gonna happen. I hope it doesnt either.

Oh wow the great Ken Shamrock, not really, Shamrock is gonna get crushed this sucks.

Mastodon2 » Posted 3/14/07 4:45:00PM

I bet Ken would put on a better fight than Hamil, but I dont see this happening. Unfortunately we will just have to see Hamil fighting. Bisping should win without incident I think.

I agree with misfit im hoping it doesn't happen either

Is Shamrock the new gatekeeper? First Franklin...and now Bisping.

My only question...I thought the UFC had a rule about not having IFL coaches fight in the UFC?

JWall023 » Posted 4/23/07 8:14:00PM

wow, dont see it happening, shamrock or hamil, Bisping is still gonna win

TuFanboi » Posted 5/23/07 10:45:00AM

Yeah pretty sure it doesn´t matter which of the two is his opponent, the W will go to bisping.

EEKS » Posted 2/15/07 4:06:00AM

When is Bisping going to fight someone at his level

richieb19 » Posted 2/4/07 7:47:00PM

I'm not thrilled about this matchup at all, and I'm easily Shamrock's number 1 fan... however whatever happens, happens... and it's always a bad idea to doubt Ken Shamrock, could be another huge upset...

After UFC 72 didn't sell out, I think this could be an attempt to boost ticket sales for the next UK event.

Like it or not, Ken Shamrock is arguably the biggest name fighter amongst NON-mma fans.

Please note the "NON"-mma fan part, I know he isn't anymore, but there are a lot of people that ask about him whenever I mention UFC.

Try and realize that Shamrock has been the main event in 11 UFC's, and was also among the biggest names in the 3 tournaments he competed in... They also had him inducted him into the hall of fame, the UFC will never turn it's back on Ken... and although people think it may be a mismatch (which I agree with), there is no way they would have Ken fight a no name to build him up, because there is simply no point... Realistically it's a win-win for the UFC, if Bisping wins, he instantly becomes a huge name in MMA, just like Franklin. If Shamrock wins then it either puts him back on top or gives him a win to go out on... I know I'm probably the only one pulling for Shamrock here, and with good reason, but it's best never to doubt someone with a skill level like Ken's, regardless of his age... Also it should be important to note that although he has been on a losing streak, he has fought nothing but top tier competition, so there is very little reason to critisize, I mean Bisping gets credit for beating Eric Shafer and Elvis Sinosic, but Ken gets heat for losing to Tito?

Shamrock is over the hill......TOO over the hill for Bisping. Bisping needs a to fight someone like Bonnar......and if he wins......then someone like Babalu.

I know it can be difficult to determine the tone of a statement, when it's only text...but, I wasn't actually trying to bash Ken at all. I have a lot of respect for the guy...I do think it is a mismatch though, which is why I asked the question. I'm wondering if that is the intention of the UFC...to make him a stepping stone? It may be for the veteran appeal, but not sure. Who knows...but it did seem as though he fought Franklin at the perfect time to launch his career. I don't see Shamrock as an overwhelming threat on his feet, but I agree he is deadly when he gets ahold of a leg. Bisping should keep it standing as long as possible. Either way, if Bisping makes any mistakes, which we've seen him do in his last two matches, it could make a difference in the outcome. I guess I just don't see the necessity of this fight...and was wondering the logic behind it.

Also, does anyone else remember Dana saying that IFL coaches woudn't fight in the UFC? Maybe Ken's the exception, perhaps?
