Fighters Forecast UFC 167 Upset   [View Full Version]
JLS1980 » Posted 6/6/12 1:54:00PM

In July, at UFC 162, Chris Weidman scored one of the biggest upsets of all time when he knocked out Anderson Silva to win the UFC middleweight championship. Fans Octagonside at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas were stunned when a Weidman left hook laid out “The Spider” in the second round, but not everyone was surprised by the result. Now, some of the sport’s best athletes are predicting another long championship reign to end when welterweight king Georges St-Pierre collides with No.1 contender Johny Hendricks this Saturday.

UFC 167's main event is the most eagerly-anticipated UFC welterweight title fight in years, with Las Vegas oddsmakers giving the Ada, Oklahoma-born Hendricks the best shot to take the title away from “GSP” in years. The No.1 ranked challenger is currently listed as +205 (or a little over 2-1) to snatch the title away, the narrowest odds offered on any GSP opponent since BJ Penn challenged the Canadian half a decade ago at UFC 94.

Here, some of the biggest names in the UFC weigh in on what could be the upset of the year.

I think this could go down as the biggest upset in UFC history.

Not even close.

It probably wouldn't even be the biggest upset on the card.

Hendricks is barely a 2 to 1 underdog.

Serra was over 7 to 1 when he won.

Gonzaga over Cro Cop was around that as well.

I think GSP will stick and move all night with his wicked jab. Once Johny gets frustrated and a little careless, GSP will start taking him down and win via decision.

Hendricks has a puncher's chance and nothing else.

GSP will dominate as usual.

I agree. Funny how the UFC hype machine tricks people into this kind of thinking. Anderson, to me, was an obvious underdog against Weidman.

This is what I've been saying as well.

This. To be honest Hendricks is the most worthly and legit #1 contender since Fitch and Alves when they got shot. Hardy only beat Swick, Shields got a robbery vs Kampman, BJ was a LW, and Condit KOd Hardy and Stun Gun to get his shot.

While Hendricks destroyed Kampman and Fitch, and won razor close tough fights to Condit and Kos. He is the first legit #1 contender in a long time so I dont think the true #2WW Iin the world beatinf the #1 is that big of an upset

Weidmans upset was so huge because he only beat Munoz and a lackluster win over Maia, and alot of people including me didnt even think weidman deserved a shot.
