SAN JOSE, Calif. – Chad Mendes isn't one to complain, but even he admits the past year has been a bit frustrating. And with opponent after opponent dropping out of planned fights with him, Mendes hopes the UFC brass is going to cut him a little slack.

except that he doesn't get a biweekly cheque like the rest of us do. When was the last time you spent $10,000 over a couple months without getting paid?

I am sure it hurts the dude, yeah he has money, but not like Couture money here...imagine if this was the situation for a lesser known fighter, dude could be royally screwed.

I always hear that the UFC does a good job about taking care of players in these types of situations. If there is no opponent that is able to be found for that event, then they are usually put in an event that comes shortly after. If that can't happen, the UFC usually just gives them their show money...or at least this is what I've read before.

I would think he could use these as massive tax write offs, something like 'unsold inventory'.
