This news is sort of old but I couldn't find a thread on the PG.

So I guess Matt Riddles statement of "Dana doesn't fire exciting fighters" doesn't hold true.
Farewell Lavar! Your brutal uppercut KO's of Pat Barry & Joey Beltran will forever be in my heart!

the dude only had one way of winning fights, big punches. he didnt kick, he didnt wrestle, he couldnt stop TD's, his BJJ was non-existent and to top it all off his gas tank seemed to be always on E outside the first 3 minuets. i loved the KO's he had but the guy was not ready for the ufc.

This does not compute

I understand his cut, he wasn't really of the calibur that the UFC needs. He has a big ring hand for sure but his cardio and complete lack of ground skills really did put him on the edge of getting cut...add the steriods and it is over.

I don't think we'll ever understand the logic behind releases and keeps...when you think you understand, you get something like this

Not like he was the best fighter, but I always want to see him fight because of the high chances of a sweet KO

I liked lavar. Hope he comes back. At least I saw him fight twice even though he lost both

he tested positive for steroids...yes he was exciting to watch but he tested positive for steroids PLUS he lost the fight....CUT

true, but he was one of the more feared guys to fight at hw. I think it was un waranted. It's not like he had boring fights ? only one was against schaub. I guess one crappy fight is all it takes to get your walking papers these days.

I can totally understand this cut. Hes been in the UFC too long to have not preogressed any what so ever.

Gonna miss Lavar. One of the few fighters that gives me that edge-of-my-seat anticipation of a huge knockout every time he fights.

Bear in mind there's a whole lot we don't see when it comes to signings, cuts, and other roster moves. Since it's not a publicly owned or traded company, the level of transparency provided is almost entirely up to them. Subpeonas and other legal motions could bring that stuff into light, right, but that'll happen only in extreme cases. Until then, we'll only have part of the story.

I like LJ, I think he's a credible threat to anyone who stands with him, and he brings an honest, no-nonsense approach to interviews and press conferences. That said, he's also reminiscent of the UFC HW's weaker years when guys like Paul Buentello and Justin Eilers competed for the HW strap. He came in off of SF, got paid for a few fights, and will move on to a smaller organization where he can outclass most brawlers and limit the chances of fighting skilled grapplers.
