Posted 4/17/09 10:47:00PM Soo I was checking Josh Koscheck's playground history and I found something startling. In his first playground fight against Sanchez nearly 4 thousand people picked that fight, in between there were nearly 6-7 thousand people making picks, and around 2010 it tapered off around 3 thousand people making picks, and just recently only about 2 thousand people picked the fight against Lawler, What gives...why is the playground dying in popularity? |

Posted 3/8/08 5:44:00PM I think it's kind of like the Poker boom, we might have peaked when we were something new but we'll climb back with hardcore fans and rise again. |

Posted 9/24/10 8:39:00PM I don't think it's the playground, but MMA fantasy in general. |

Posted 12/17/07 8:56:00PM I have to agree, but this is my mma home an nowhere else on the net comes close. I remember back as recent as UFC 100 there used to be a solid 4 to 5 thousand people picking consistently. Cut to the last Fule event and there was less than 2000. I don't get why its weaned in popularity but I was here from damn near the start and I'll be here until the end. Hopefully it'll pick back up again, but in its defence I've been to other sites and this is with out doubt the most knowledgeable group of fans around. The mods here are great and fighter rankings are better than 99% of the sites out there. I use the odd's set by the PG to make some bets in real life and I've won a hell of a lot more money than I've lost. I honestly can't think why its died off so much. I know a few people left when the new rules about politics and things came in but thats been relaxed a lot. Hopefully they'll come back sometime as some solid posters left. I'm going to start doing more to promote it using my facebook and twitter. Granted I've only got like 20 followers on twitter and I hardly use facebook anymore but every little helps, right! _______________________________________ |

Posted 9/21/07 2:56:00AM Ive brought in a few people, but word of mouth is everything. When entire camps, and mass amount of people get banned etc and as Hotrod said DcRage is what stopped him from posting, it could have and probably stopped people from coming back |

Posted 7/3/07 12:31:00AM It's a little sad to see it die down so much, and I don't know what I'd do, or where I'd go if the place ever shut down. I'd be one sad panda I'm on this damn site at least 10 times a day, and that's probably on the low side. It's the first site I go to, when I surf the net. MMAPG4LIFE

That's the issue more than anything, a lot of places do MMA fantasy now, we were one of the earliest. DC contributed to the forums slowing down for awhile, but he's not the cause of the fantasy game numbers being down, an influx of places to make picks is. |

Goes hand in hand. People that were banned played the game, there were upstart fantasy games that had most banned and current members that have now left. Im not saying he was the only reason, but he was a big reason thats for sure. |

Posted 3/26/10 6:22:00AM It's probably because of the amount of events with a new fight card nearly every week. UFC used to only have about 5 events per year, then in 2005 it jumped to 10 cards, which then rose in 2006-2009 to about 18-20 cards per year. The past couple years have risen dramatically with 27 events in 2011 and 32 in 2012. It's hard to keep up with every card, especially some of these weak PPV's that were expected to care about, much less pay for, like UFC 147 Silva-Franklin 2 (Co-Main Werdum-Russow) the day after the Maynard-Guida free card.

That idiot killed the forums, but he didn't contribute to the pickers. |
