Posted 4/8/07 11:45:00AM With the Chad Mendes-Manny Gamburyan fight off UFC 157, a new welterweight bout has stepped up to fill the gap. Strikeforce imports Nah-Shon Burrell (8-2 MMA, 0-0 UFC) and Yuri Villefort (6-1 MMA, 0-0 UFC) will meet later this month. UFC officials on Monday announced the new booking. In addition, with the loss of Mendes-Gamburyan opening up a spot on the main card, a middleweight bout between Court McGee (14-3 MMA, 3-2 UFC) and Josh Neer (33-12-1 MMA, 6-8 UFC) has moved up from the preliminary card to the pay-per-view. Posted 8/10/11 1:23:00AM less than 2 weeks notice is going to be tough for Burrell/Villefort but they were supposed to meet at the Strikeforce card in september before it got cancelled so they at least have some knowledge to prepare as far as game plans go. |

Posted 3/28/11 6:57:00PM For those of you who maybe looking down on Yuri, don't even think about it. Yuri Villefort is a monster for just being 21 years old. He trained BJJ when he was a kid and then at 16 year old, he went with his one of his brothers to Thailand to train in Muay Thai. Yuri is a beast both in BJJ and Muay Thai. Trust me, I trained against him once and lost horrible lol. WAR YURI VILLEFORT !!!!

Posted 6/7/11 4:52:00AM like mcgee & neer, but was really hoping Schaub & Johnson would get on the main card.....but i think the ufc strategically puts certain fights on FX prelims for excitement purposes & if they kept Johnson/Schaub on prelims for this reason, i understand _______________________________________ |

Posted 4/8/07 11:45:00AM Decent fight right here. Another Strikeforce vs. Strikeforce fight that will probably just trim the fat. This card in general really does nothing for me though and that's almost never the case. _______________________________________ |

Well imo that's what FUEL, FX and FOX cards are for. People aren't going to pay to see guys they've never heard of. In a situation like this too, a relevant fight falls out, they didn't have a whole lot to pick from and imo this should be a fun fight as both guys are tough and skilled vets so I think this actually makes sense. They still have an awesome card to go along with it as well. |

I guess you decided to focus on the last sentence then the whole paragraph. So let re-state what I said last time. The reason why I said is Yuri is Beast is because for being just 21 years old, he's about to fight in the UFC. To fight in the UFC in your early twenties already shows how talented and dangerous you're. Yuri been training in BJJ since he was a kid then when he was 16 years old, he went with one of his brothers to Thailand to train in Muay Thai for about 2 years. He has solid ground work and solid striking. Those the reason why I feel Yuri is a beast, not because I lost horrible to him once. (Note: Yes, I know Burrell is 23 years old, however I have no knowledge about him.) |
