Who should Anthony Pettis fight next?   [View Full Version]

I think he should fight Aldo.

Bendo then Aldo imo. If he beats Bendo for the belt and Aldo moves up to fight him for the Lightweight championship, that will be a huge fight. If he loses to Bendo then there is still the chance that he can drop down and face Aldo at some point.

He'll be waiting for Bendo for a while. Hopefully this coming fall, if we're lucky. That's if he can get past Gilbert unscathed.

I'm sure Aldo vs Pettis would be certified fireworks but I NEEED to see Bendo vs Pettis 2!! I don't just want to, I NEEEEEEEEEDDDDDDDD to !!!

What if they booked Aldo vs Pettis for April/May (around the same time Bendo fights) and if Aldo wins, Pettis could always move back up. :P

I would like to see Pettis face a wrestler at LW next. He lost to Clay Guida not too long ago. He only has three wins in a row, we saw Jim Millet have like seven and not get a shot. Pettis beat Stephens for a Split Decision, and while his KO's of Lauzon and Cerrone were impressive, that Guida loss lingers in the back of my mind. I'd like to see him take on a Gray Maynard, or maybe a TJ Grant.

As for him fighting Aldo, while that would be awesome, I want to see him finish his business at LW. He has never fought at 145lbs. He is close to that LW title shot, and has a win over the current champ. If he gets the belt, that just makes the fight with Aldo more marketable down the road.

I think the Guida fight was bull shit, just like the Hoiki fight. Pettis controlled the fight even from his back with striking and submission. He didnt take any strikes from Guida and he didnt allow Guida to pass his guard. I think Pettis is ready for a title shot now. He should wait for Benson. He has no need to move down a weight class. I think a rematch between Benson and Pettis would be sweet, pending Benson winning his next fight.

i went with bendo. he's much closer to that fight and it would be nice to see that rematch. however, a fight with aldo would be incredible and i would actually want to see that fight more than the bendo fight, it's just that i dont see it happening for a while.

Henderson. No reason to pass it up after spending the last few years trying to snatch a rematch. The Aldo fight would gain more credit if Pettis was champion anyway.

Hell this might all play out and we see aldo vs lamas and pettis vs melendez.

Pettis beats bendo we will only see the aldo fight if he moves to 155

Anthony Pettis just tweeted:

I'm not stoping my quest for the lightweight belt jus stuck waiting so y not cut a lil weight and take that belt 2...2013 is my year!!!!

i'd love for him to fight Aldo, but if so, it needs to be soon so they wont postpone him & Bendo down the road

Doing things this way is what always derails good title fights. Pettis vs Henderson was one of the best fights of 2010, I don't want to see the rematch derailed by another fight like Pettis-Guida. If he beats Henderson, then give him a wrestler as his first test as champion.

Miller had a very impressive win streak but he didn't have any wins over any top contenders and when given a shot against them he came up short. Pettis is in the unique situation of having already beaten the champ and to me that trumps everyone but possibly Melendez who has a belt of his own.

Wasn't Jung supposed to fight aldo? Jung vs Lamas would be good also.
